Criterion Collection

Hulu Plus now has the Criterion Collection. It looks like every single film made by Criterion.

I know there are people here that are BIG Criterion fans. Any suggestions of films I should start with?

I'm a big fan of all Kurosawa's stuff (7 Samurai and Sanjuro/Yojimbo specifically). Don't miss the Criterion versions of House, Brazil, Videodrome, Drunken Angel, Time Bandits, or Spoorloos (The Vanishing). There are plenty more too! :)

Oh boy.

The Docks of New York, Ace in the Hole, La Belle et la Bête, Black Narcissus, Days of Heaven, In the Mood for Love, Kiss Me Deadly, The Night of the Hunter, Onibaba, Repulsion, Ugetsu, and Cure are a few I'd recommend. Definitely second everything Despare recommended, too.

Wow...yeah I have probably 100 Criterion Collection DVD's (And maybe 20 Blu-Ray's).

Depends on what kind of movie you're looking for Hammer.

It's funny because I started with "Video Nasties" like:
"Salo" (considered to be the most disgusting film of all time)
"Man Bites Dog"

But then I discovered what I consider for lack of a better term "beautiful works" like: Federico Fellini's "8 1/2",
Ingmar Bergman's "The Seventh Seal" & "Wild Strawberries"
Henri-Georges Clouzot's "The Wages Of Fear" (One of the best "Gripping/Tense" movies I've ever seen)

They also have the best releases of some of my favorite classic hollywood movies like:
"Charade" with Cary Grant & Audrey Hepburn
"The Third Man" with Orson Welles

So many good movies in the Criterion Collection...

Yep, every movie mentioned is fantastic. Don't miss Armageddon too! lol Just kidding... seriously though have you seen the Criterion of Testament of Dr. Mabuse? Just thought about it while looking at the 100 years of horror thread.

Haha, it's always baffled me why they put that one out.
I have seen the Mabuse release by them; it's really great.

I watched "21 Days" with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh. Loved it. Good lord, he was a handsome man!
