RE: "What does the element of children bring to a horror movie, both as killers and as victims?"

Dear Austin,

Children can bring various things to a horror movie. Depending on ones own association with children, for instance if you are a parent or have younger siblings etc.

They are sometimes the victims as in the exorcist, but it is generally more of an asociation with an older victim for the child character rather than them being killed or tortured.

So I'm going to focuss on the fear that chilldren bring to the screen in horror movies. They represent our own fears and weaknesses from the evil chilldren of movies such as Children of the Corn, Village of the damned and Halloween we have seen children not as we would generaly whilst visiting the park. It gives adult viewers something real and unexpected to be fearfull of.

I think shear shock of seeing someone you may feed and cloth and put to bed at night turning on you and ripping out your throat is probably one of the most fearfull aspects of horror.
