I'm sure we all enjoy films outside of the horror genre and wondered what others' favourites were.

For what it's worth, my list is below. Some may not have much merit as films but they're guilty pleasures nonetheless.

I've always prefered the original

i thought terminator was really boring. like, extremely, until the end, which i really liked.

i understand why people like terminator better than #2 ... but #2 showed things that have never been seen before.
Even the nuclear holocaust at the beginning was amazing ..

and the action was unrelenting..

I would say that I like the first two Terminator films equally, except that Michael Biehn was in the first one, so I have to give it the edge (I had a mad crush on him when I was a kid :p ). The second one was every bit as good, but for different reasons (the effects were outstanding). The first one was just a more unique film, I think.

Yeh it was. Its a really dark film and I found it was paced a lot better than the sequel. The original had more substance and was more character driven opposed to T2 which was mainly a special effects extravaganza. The original has that film noir meets sci-fi feel (that I really dug in Blade Runner aswell).
But don't get me wrong I love T2.... the original has more heart.
Why didn't James Cameron keep making films like this?

There was some good character development in the second one; but you're right, often that seemed to take a backseat to the special effects and that usually leaves me cold. Yet it didn't get anywhere close to the point that many films get to these days where the special effects are the ONLY thing there; there was still an attempt to make a smart, emotional film that didn't completely rely on the special effects to pull it through. Overall, I would agree. You're right; the first one is the darker film and the smarter of the two films, in my opinion.

Now I have little use for the third one.... there were some cool individual scenes, but overall, it was a huge disappointment. There wasn't any real attempt to make the characters stand out in that case.

you said blade runner. every time i see that movie i say "what...?"
