What albums are you sessioning lately?
What albums have you guys been listening to a lot of latley?: This is what I've been sessioning heaps at the moment:
DYSTOPIA - The Aftermath http://www.profaneexistence.com/blac...a_AfterCDL.jpg Very deranged album. Definatley my favorite at the moment. If you haven't checked it out before you should. PROVOKED - Infant In The Womb Of Warfare http://www.profaneexistence.com/Page...rovokedLP2.gif Great hardcore punk with female vocals. PROVOKED - Prepare For The Cold http://www.profaneexistence.com/Page...oked2ndLPL.jpg SEVERED HEAD OF STATE - Anathema Device http://www.profaneexistence.com/blac...SeveredCDL.jpg SCHIFOSI - Ill Winds from Outopia http://www.profaneexistence.com/blac...chifosiCDL.jpg Very cool Australian band. Brutal shit with female vocals. Real impressed with this one at the moment. and some oldies I always end up thrashin': MELVINS - Houdini http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/S...55012lz627.jpg MC5 - Back In The USA http://www.artistdirect.com/Images/S...60144o1b64.jpg Almost deserves a thread of its own. I dusted this off the other day and it still kicks my ass. THE rock n roll album in my opinion. "Let Me Try" and "American Ruse" are total fucking classics. ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS - The Day The Earth Met The Rocket From The Tombs http://www.hasharat.co.il/images/rocket_the_200.jpg Very important album to me. Featuring members that went on to form Pere Ubu and Dead Boys (songs by both bands are in their original forms here) this band fucking owns. Anyone into stuff like The Stooges or 1970s NY scene should definatley pick up a copy. It has the most amazing version of "Ain't It Fun" and I recommend everyone check out the songs "So Cold" and "Amphetamine" HANK WILLIAMS - Cheating Hearts http://cover6.cduniverse.com/PhantomArt/360436.jpg It all started here. I think "Long Gone Lonesome Blues" is my all time favorite song. |
I've been listening to the following albums lately:
My Life With The Thrill Kill Cult: Confessions of the Knife My Life With The Thrill Kill Cult Ministry: Greatest Fits The Mind Is A Terrible Thing to Taste |
Wake Pig by 3
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CMZZZZZZZ_.jpg Rock with some calypso, really inventive stuff. Watch Out! by Alexisonfire http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CMZZZZZZZ_.jpg Hard punk, along the lines of Story of the Year or Thrice. In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 by Coheed and Cambria http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CMZZZZZZZ_.jpg I've listened to this cd every day since the day I bought it. Great music, genius lyrics... if I could request any album to ANYone, this would be it. |
^^ They look interesting ItsAlive75 might have to check some of them out. What sort of music is In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 by Coheed and Cambria?
@Happycamper: I used to listen to The Mind is a Terrible Thing To Taste a lot. Burning inside is a fuckin classic. I also liked what I've heard of their last album. You should try some Godflesh if you're into industrail. Their album Streetcleaner is still pretty good in my opinon.... http://www.blackangel.net/music/godf...eetcleaner.jpg |
I listen too a lot of albums.
Recently, The Germs (MIA) The Evens @ Elvis you gotta check them out. Lou Reed (NYC Man) < I love his solo album. Different days, different albums |

Aqua??? I don't get why you'd want to listen to that at all...
Listened to this a bunch of times today I'm not really into them except for this album (there's some awesome grooves, structures): http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...1.LZZZZZZZ.jpg @ Desposible: Yeh I've heard bits and pieces of The Evens. Quite good, still like Fugazi better but I'll have to check out more of their stuff. Speaking of Fugazi..... Another classic I forgot to add: http://airy.phy.ulaval.ca/~pystl/Fugazi/13songs.jpg Give Me The Cure, Burning and Suggestion always kick my ass listen after listen. Essential. also: http://us.ent1.yimg.com/images.launc...78262mlujf.jpg GG's Freaks, Faggots and Junkies. A true punk rock classic. Something in it to offend everyone :p a great fuck you to everything. |

Its weird what one used to like :) A few of the mix tapes I made as a teenager are very dubious! Quote:
What sort of stuff is on your country mixes. I've been listening to a lot of Hank Williams latley and am looking for some more guys to get into. I had a bunch of great 60s garage compilations a while ago there's some awesome music out of that period I love stuff like The Sonics, The Wailers, Mouse and the Traps, Sam The Sham and The Pharohs, and Downliners Sect. Its definatley a period of music that slips under the radar. I've been listening to these a lot so far this week: BLUE CHEER - Vincebus Eruptum http://www.songlyricscollection.com/...us-eruptum.jpg Defintley a underated album. Easily one of my favorite albums of the 60s. These guys do some crazyily heavy noisey shit. They do Summertime Blues better than anyone. WHITE ZOMBIE - La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1 http://www.monochrom.at/cracked/revi...hiteZombie.jpg I used to really dig this album as a teenager and have started sessioning it again. Great horror movie influenced rock n roll! Not really into what Rob Zombie went on to do music wise (loved his film tho and am looking foward to more) but this album is definatley a total fucking classic! |
Another strange selection!
ESC 2005 - Kiyv: Gracia:Run & Hide (Germany) Gulseren:Rimi Limi Ley (Turkey) Ivan & Delfi:Black Haired Girl (Poland) NOX:Spin, World! (Hungary) Son Del Sol:Witchcraft (Spain) Vanilla Ninja:Cool Vibes (Switzerland) Wig Wam:In My Dreams (Norway) Zdob Si Zdub:Granny Beats The Drum (Moldova) |
TO Elvis Christ:
nice Dead Moon avatar. very nice. do you like the Rats, or any of their other early bands? the Sonics are one of my favorite bands of all time. I had the chance to see Guitar Wolf's last show. the one right before Billy died. Blue Cheer is amazing. my fave song is "Second Time Around" some old country greats that I like are: Hank Snow Roy Acuff Kitty Wells Wanda Jackson I mainly listen to old country and old garage/punk/rock n roll. I like most all old country folks that were pre-1980 (I even like some very select stuff from the 80s and 90s. today's country is complete shite though, except for a very few select "alt country" groups and/or people). TO urgeok: the Modern Lovers did release two (I think) studio albums. from what I've read/heard their history is kind of patchy when it comes to the facts. all of the songs they recorded were recorded in a studio, and some even by David Geffen way back in the day. I know Kim Fowley recorded those songs on "the Original Modern Lovers" album, some of which didn't make it onto the first record. |
only Newb and Taylorsmommy will appreciate this :
but i've been stuck at work late a few times and every time i've been compelled to listen to Supertramps : Even in the quietest moments. i have to say that i really like that band .. theres something comforting about those vocals ... |
Living After Midnight, The best of Judas Priest
AND Misfits Meet the Nutley Brass, Fiend Club Lounge |
Quote:
What's the deal with the other one? Misfits done lounge stlye  sounds pretty out there! Quote:
http://www.rimpo.de/066.jpg That Guitar Wolf show would've been awesome I'm really jealous  :p Guitar Wolf actually made rock n' roll matter again they were a fuck of a lot better than the current wave of 70s rock wanna be bullshit. |
Quote:
|
I thought Jerry Only would've flogged the dead horse of the Misfits enough by now  thanks Jerry for turning a once great band into a embarrasing mechandise machine.
|
currently I've been listening to:
Confessions of a Knife: My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult The Mind is A Terrible Thing To Taste: Ministry Symbols: KMFDM |
Norma Jean - Bless the Child, Kiss the Martyr
Modest Mouse ( I cant believe i like this shit ) Cannibal Corpse- The Wretched Spawn ( Decency Dified :D ) The Showdown- Chorus of Obliteration |
Audioslave- Out of Exile
Coldplay- X&Y |
^^ I can't stand either of those bands. But each to their own :p
|
Quote:
Audioslave is just a rock n roll band. I mean, I don't love them but I respect them. Rage against the machine and Soundgarden were creative and unique bands. I could name a million other bands that are worse, and if they're not in the first 1000. They're decent. |

So I'm a pussy with no balls because I like a certain band? |
