Psycho Cop (1989) is the last seen movie I watched sense last night.
http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/...PsyhcoCop8.jpg I've been watching it off and on ever sense I found it finally on youtube. I've been watching part 2 over the years. Now I finally got to see the original classic and let me tell you the movie is awesome if you like psychotic killer cop films. I say go forward if you haven't seen it yet. You wont be disappointed but I'll leave you guys to decide. |
And oh ,, I forgot favorite line from the film officer Joe Vickers at you're service.
love that line ever time I hear that. |
Currently watching Friday the 13th V: A New Beginning.

Watched Cannibal Holocaust (1980) today. Possibly the orginal "found footage" horror?
I thought it was pretty good. Not half as shocking as I was expecting, which I guess might be a reflection of the modern resurgence of graphic horror movies and *whispers* torture porn... There's an overt sociological agenda going on there anyway, in a vein that put me in mind of Natural Born Killers, and I found myself pretty much absorbed by it from start to finish. The characters are all quite entertaining, especially as we come to see exactly what kind of a heartless and egotistical git Alan Yates is. Quite well acted as well imo, with a gritty reality to it. The animal scenes. Yes. For me definitely the hardest parts to watch (life-long veggie/vegan here...), but the huge fuss about all that just makes me think "hypocrites". |
I think Cannibal Holocaust was the first found footage horror film.
I found it more shocking than I expected, and I agree the animal killing scenes were tough to watch. That bit with the turtle went on longer than I would have cared for. |

...on gorgeous 720p High-Def. They just don't make films like this anymore. "The name is Plissken." * * * * |
Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)
I never watched it before, jeez what a naff film. Usually I make it to the end of a movie no matter how bad it is, not in this case though. |
Opera
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7029c2ad.jpg In the hands of another filmmaker, i feel that this would have ended up as just another run of the mill slasher film. But Argento was able to bring tension, fear and an overwhelming feeling of isolation and vulnerability to the movie that really made it stand out. I found the ending to be a little much but besides that i really liked it. Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part VI http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...ps35ca7704.jpg Watched this one since it was Friday the 13th yesterday. Despite it's silliness, it's horrendous dialogue that seems comprised entirely of cliches and the fact that Jason is shown way too much, i actually like this movie. It's not the best Friday the 13th movie but honestly i never took them seriously after the second one anyway. |
Evil dead 2 on Blu last night.
Quality was much improved from my old optimum dvd. Really enjoyed it again but I think I've seen it far too many times. I've been re-watching the trilogy and I was surprised at how little I enjoyed the first movie almost to the point of annoyance! |
Watched Wicker Man (1973) for a second time last night. Man that movie's awesome.

Criscrossing between Carrie, Scanners and Firestarter, it's worth a watch just for the last 30 minutes, specially the "exploding body" climax. The middle of the film drags a bit after a nail-biting opening, but the second half more than makes up for it. Recommended. * * * ½ |
Maximum Overdrive ('86)
From Stephen King's cocaine days, sort of Convoy meets Night of the Comet with a vaguely King-esque vibe, lots of AC/DC in the soundtrack, you could tell he was cracked out from the get-go but it's rather endearing. |
Huminoids From the Deep... yeeeeeah.
|
I watched Dawn of the Dead (original) last night. It's been a long time since I've seen it but I loved it, mostly because Ken Foree is awesome.
___________ "Enjoy that dead girl's body." |
The Blob (1988) because I hadn't seen some cheesy, horror goodness in a few hours.
I'm in the middle of Anthropophagus (1980) right now. |
Just finished watching Pet Semetary. This is one of my favorite Stephen King movie and for some reason I've just been an idiot and completely didn't realize that Jud is friggin Herman Munster. I guess it just took me to put two and two together because Jud doesn't look like Frankenstein's monster but after I figured it out I was like well duh no wonder he's looked so familiar all these years lol. Anyway I just started Evil Dead 2 and my fiance is probably going to be pissed because this is his favorite horror movie and I'm watching it without him.

Nightmare on Elm Street 4 -
I didn't really watch this one. I just had it on while working. I think I've only seen parts before. Maybe the whole movie once but I can't remember. Only parts are familiar probably because I saw pictures in horror magazines when I was young. Namely that waterbed scene. And do people even use waterbeds anymore? That seems like an 80s thing. But I had this on just listening to the music. There are some great 80s tunes in it. Starting with the opening song to the credits. I'm going to get that Nightmare on Elm Street set and watch the whole series one of these days. |

The Creeping Flesh (1973)
http://www.petercushing.com/PCFPS/19...esh/UKquad.jpg Not as good as I remember - pretty muddling plot about a scientist played by Peter Cushing who finds the missing link in the form of a giant skeleton that can regenerate. Meanwhile is wife dies in an Insane Asylum run by Chris Lee and it looks like his daughter is going to end up barking mad too. Not a Hammer film despite the cast (Michael Ripper is there too) and time frame. |
The Monster Squad and The Hearse. Thanks to Fearnet On Demand. Had seen The Monster Squad back in 1988, but like it better now. The Hearse is a bit, hmm, slow. With a shaky ending.

Hell of the Living Dead http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RUCuLnsLeA
Good old cheesy zombie film with soundtrack by Goblin |

House Of Dark Shadows (1971)
-Jonathan Frid After 200 years vampire Barnabas Collins, is released from his coffin to wreck havoc on his descendents. Phantoms Review: One of the best vampire movies ever made. Even if your not of fan of the original soap opera, you'll enjoy this bloody, Hammer style horror film. Atmospheric, well acted (by the cast of the TV series) and a good story, based on a plot from the show. I love this film. |

Currently watching Halloween II (1981) on AMC's FearFest.

The Monster Club (1981)
Vincent Price, John Carradine, Donald Pleasence, Britt Ekland, Patrick Magee and a host of other British Actors. Couldn't really remember much about this one. I picked it up on Blu-Ray the other day for $8. I figured it would be a good film to watch on Halloween. Definitely goofy and kooky, but not without charm. |
^Despite the great cast, I think that is the weakest of Amicus' anthology series. The framing device is just embarrassing.
Yesterday I watched: The Fog The Satanic Rites of Dracula An Episode of BEASTS (the Nigel Kneale Series) - Baby The Last Treehouse of Horror Trick R Treat I was surprised how must i enjoyed re-watching the Hammer film - I forgot how much James Bond tropes they ripped off for it. The opening for the Simpsons by Del Toro was excellent. Beasts wasn't as scarey as I thought as a kid (of course) but TP McKenna was great in that episode. |
Just got done watching The Shining, and one scene made me sit back and think 'Well now...', it's the scene where he's chopping through the door, going "Here's Johnny!", and reaches through the gap to unlock the door, and she slashes him with the knife! I was like "Holy crap, someone actually defended herself! Most horror movie victims (survivors or no) usually tear off screaming in random directions, so it was mildly sutprising, overall I really enjoyed the movie.
Starting on The Covenant now, but based on what I heard it seems more like a thriller than a horror film, next in the queue is Queen of the Damned, bear in mind this is my set DVD pickups from this week, the majority of what I've been suggested isn't available on Netflix. |
Writing an essay on the New Hollywood era and High Concept cinema. Went for one of my guilty pleasures of the 80s.

Chopping Mall (1986)
Excellent dose of OTT 1980s nonsense, great stuff : ) |
House of Dark Shadows
|
Saw "Chopping Mall" for the first time a couple of days ago.
Bit of a misleading poster hm? It was ok. I mean I've seen better killer Robot/Security system movies. Watchable for a lazy day. Glad I've finally seen it, since I've been wondering about it for years. |
Maximum Overdrive, yes, I know it's not a good movie, even King acknowledged this, but I hadn't seen it since I was a pre-teen, and you just cannot deny the epicness of firing a LAW rocket at a truck and turning it into a meteor-like storm of flaming TP, :p

I love Maximum Overdrive as well. Emilio Estevez , Lisa Simpson, Semi's killing people to the sounds of AC/DC. What's not to love?
I watched "The World's End" last night. I loved it! |
