The Voices (2014)
B/C
Loved the concept even though I expected something slightly different.
Ryan Reynolds did an excellent job playing a guy with serious mental problems.

Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...raiser_III.png

Doug Bradley gives a superb performance and I love the idea of exploring Pinhead's humanity (that was introduced in the previous film). Unfortunately this movie doesn't have much else going for it. This sequel is arguably one of the weakest of the series and it veers heavily from what made the previous two films unique and disturbing. Instead it embraces the more campy aspects of the genre and sadly resorts to a heavy use of cheesy one-liners. The special effects makeups and gore for the most part are exceptional however the designs of the Cenobites are very disappointing. I really like the hospital emergency room scene where the guy is ripped apart by chains. I also liked the design of the pillar and the scene where chains shoot out of it and rip off Sandy's skin was a pretty cool visual.

Is this the one with the girl that plays Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones?

The same day we started talking about AC/DC I got a shirt in the mail. It was from their concert in the 1980's Highway to Hell.

Is REC 4 worth checking out?

Thought the 3rd one was terrible.

If the third one is terrible I wouldn't want to find out about four.

Very cool, stylish film made from the anime. I loved the look, the clothes and dialog. I would love to drink tea with Sebastian Michaelis ::love::

Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...dline_ver2.jpg

While the premise is interesting I found the characters and story boring. Some of the gore was really good though like John Merchant being decapitated looked incredible.

Hellraiser: Inferno (2000)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...serinferno.jpg

This was a really solid psychological detective noir that I felt brought the franchise back to it's dark, moody and disturbing roots. The designs of the Cenobites were really creepy especially the one without any legs. My only complaint is at times it doesn't really feel like it's part of the Hellraiser franchise and there are not nearly enough Pinhead scenes.

DeadbeatAtDawn 02-08-2015 06:56 PM

Really liked this one. It was not what I expected, the cinematography was pretty, almost instagramish looking. I had a vibe throughout the film it would kinda end like it did. Some scenes were fucking awesome, mental in fact. :)

"The Voices" 5/10

Had potential to be a great comedy, but sadly it wasn't very funny.

Yeah, it was more serious than I expected and I thought it would be more over the top but I still liked it.

Just watched The Battery for like the 80th time, not sure if there was a thread about it but one of the best movies I've seen 10/10 <-- rare, my snobby ass never gives that

TheBossInTheWall 02-09-2015 02:19 PM

Haunt 2013. 2 out of 5.

This movie was not immersive. It was quite dull. The only 'scares' were weak and routine. The characters were also weak. I could not finish this film, which normally I give a film one star for. However the one unusual aspect in this film made me wistful a bit, the family and the girl from the house next door were all well adjusted. The family was loving, warm, and open with each other. A rarity in general and particularly in movies. It wasn't a 'family friendly' cliche or movie rating type of thing. But I wouldn't recommend it. The fact that I could not immerse myself in the story is its biggest negative.

Had some CGI to the FX and that takes points away from the film but the players were awesome! Really felt real. Found footage with an instagramish feel. Nice.

Horns

I really enjoyed it. Thought Daniel Radcliffe did an excellent job.

Jake.Ashworth 02-10-2015 06:47 AM

I watched The Deaths of Ian Stone last night. Not sure how I feel about it. I liked the way it was filmed. The premise was fun if not a little to Matrix-y. There were some solid death scenes. I would say 7/10.
