PIGGY

pretty shit really, but i love revenge so it was bearable

cheebacheeba 08-10-2012 08:05 PM

Saw that "Detention" was mentioned here.
Watched it last night...aside from a few annoying cast members and endless pop culture references it was actually pretty enjoyable.
Also - the time travel thing...in my opinion it was handled a lot better than more serious sci-fi films have done at times.
It's say a "6.5"...it's watchable and very strange.

It's a little "gamey", but not as much so as venison.
Something like less than 3% body fat so it's incredibly lean.
Best grilled and served less than medium with a sear.
Goes well with orange, goes well with beetroot.
I like so make a sauce for mine out of red wine, Worcestershire sauce, garlic and black pepper.

I believe we export quite a bit of it - One of your specialty butchers might have it.

Night of the Comet.

I believe I found out about this movie from this forum. Maybe it was seeing Catherine Mary Stewart in the women of horror thread. The movie is a pretty good 80s horror film. Catherine Mary Stewart gets one of the best intros I've seen in a while. It's fun and has a definite 80s feel with some cool music playing many times during the movie. The ending could be a bit stronger. There were parts I didn't clearly get like the zombies/crazy people and why the main characters toss their guns in the end. But this is still a cool movie. It's up for a while for free on demand.

A truly awful movie about truly awful people. Best avoided.

God Bless America (2011)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ss_america.jpg

INCREDIBLY cathartic. Not necessarily "best movie I've ever seen" but really refreshing to see a 90-minute Bobcat Goldthwait rant about everything that I hate. Does get boring at times when, you know, there's no violence, but other than that I enjoyed it.

Not really for everyone as it IS incredibly preachy, but it made my boyfriend and I laugh quite a bit. Enjoyed it more than I had expected.

Currently available on Netflix Instant if you're interested.

Bizarre 08-11-2012 06:45 PM

I got around to seeing the new Batchap film yesterday.

I enjoyed it. Not as much as The Dark Knight but it was still good.

The Tall Man

Went into this knowing nothing and found the mix of genres entertaining. There's a few flaws like the tacked on social commentary and the storyline gets a bit messy but overall I thought this was solid. Got a feeling this one will grow on me over time just like Martyrs.

The Dictator

A few laughs but overall this was pretty average and not as funny as his previous films.

Citizen Gangster

Low key crime flick that will slip most people by. I didn't really gel with the lead character but I thought the rest of the cast was great.

the last exorcisim

Went to the drive in and saw Bourne Legacy and Savages again.

Bourne Legacy is nowhere near as good as the other Bourne films. Jeremy Renner is good but not as interesting to watch as Matt Damon as Jason Bourne and i liked the storyline in the originals of him trying to get his memories back and dealing with the people he used to work for while being this notorious assassin. In Legacy he just seemed like one member of this test group that wasn't as talented or infamous as Bourne plus instead of the great story i mentioned above, the plot in this one is basically just Cross (Renner) trying to get meds. Plus when it ended me and my girlfriend both looked at each other and were like "That's it?"

But it was entertaining. On it's own though, it would be forgettable. The best thing it has going for it is that it's part of the Bourne franchise.

"Silverado" (1985)
-Kevin Kline, Scott Glen

Plot: IMDB

A misfit bunch of friends come together to right the injustices which exist in a small town.

Phantom's Review: One of my all time favorite westerns. They take practically every cliche in the book, mix it up and create a wonderful light hearted western adventure. Wonderful cast, fun story and great action. I love this film.

Been sorta watching this in the background as I surf the web. Decent supernatural/pagan rituals/evil kid flick. Not necessarily groundbreaking but has some truly creepy moments.

I saw Salem's Lot some days ago, it was just as good as when I watched it the first time :)

Elvis_Christ 08-12-2012 06:07 PM

The Hunger Games

I thought the Victorian style costumes were dumb as fuck but the long running time wasn't a chore to watch like I was expecting. The ending was a bit weak but I guess it's setting it up for the next two entries. Much better than I was expecting.

Headhunters

This was great. Lots of energy and plot twists made this the best thriller I've seen in a long time.

I read that they're going to be dragging Mockingjay out into two parts. Have you read the books?

Really? That seems like they're fully milking it and making it way to overblown. Nope I haven't read the books.

That irritates me. I read the books. I absolutely loved them. But to be honest, there's no need for the third book to be two movies. Plus I thought it was the weakest of the three.

If they really want the time to do a series right they should either do a TV show or miniseries.

I thought the first movie was really enjoyable (with the exception of Lenny Kravitz) but I was biased because I loved the book so much that I filled in the gaps as I watched.

Hellraiser Revelations (2011) In a way this is as big an insult to fans of the series as the previous entry Hellworld but I realise it was either going to be this re-tread of the original film (albeit in a different set of situations and circumstances) or a flat out remake and am happy that they did this instead. Warning Doug Bradley is NOT playing pinhead in this and suffers from a lack of dark presence because of it. Offers nothing new to fans who have watched all the films so will be very disappointing but try not to be put off by the first ten minutes which make it look like Hellraiser:The found footage cash-in. It's at least better than that but still only for die-hard fans whom may still despise it.

Wish I'd been there *drools* :)

Mr-X 08-13-2012 07:07 AM

Dead Snow
wasn't all that impressed and walked away confused. someone mentioned it was a horror comedy but they only really started to make some funny scenes after the two guys find the shed full of tools. I wont say its a bad movie but it just seemed like the first half was serious and the second half was a p**s take and not a good mash up of them both. I thought this movie had potential to be a good zombie film like the outpost maybe. overall id give it a 3/10 and it'll probably never move from the DVD collection for a long time.

on a plus im going to watch the orphanage and pans labrynth again tonight.
