I'm surprised you gave Children Of The Corn 666 even a D, lol! That movie is terrible!

I agree.

I snuck into the theater to see the original COTC back in the day, and it was brutal.
I'm a King fan so I pretty much had to see it.

That was quite a shocker to me considering it was back in the pre-cable tv and VCR days.
They have really tried their best to capitalize off of the Children of the Corn name.

Fail.

As a regular movie viewer before rating or grading a film I try to consider (not always) different parts of that particular film...like story, characterization, dialog, screenplay, camera work etc. And I agree considering most of those parts this movie as a sequel turned out terrible indeed. But there are also some area where I think they did an average or to some extent a decent job i.e. camera work & lights. Considering those factors I gave it a 'D' instead of 'F'.
Moreover, making a movie isn't an easy job in comparing to rating or reviewing a film and whether intentionally or not you make a bad or even an utterly crap movie I believe there's always at least one, two or few people involved in that process tries to give their best effort (at least at some point in the process) to make it look good. Even in every bad movie or any form of arts there's at least some people tries to work with a good intention at some point in development phase, I believe. Yeah, any bad movie instantly wastes some of the very valuable hours of my life but I think I should take some part of that blame for myself also as it was me who knowingly or unknowingly decided to watch that bad movie. However, every unseen or new film has this 'wast of time' risk for me and as being a regular movie viewer/lover, I don't mind to take that risk most of the time.

Very well said. And I completely agree with you, Rosh.

Absolutely. I'll have to break out one or both of these out soon.

1990: Bronx Warriors

Why aren't there more movies like this today?

roshiq 10-13-2011 01:45 AM

Little Otik (2000)

The actors played Otik's parent did a marvelous job...especially the mother. This is my 2nd film of Jan Svankmajer after Lunacy, which I think is the better film.

>>: B+

Alucarda (1978)

Though initially I was thinking it'd be like a Jean Rollin's take on The Exorcist but gradually it delivered almost every madness & fun that you can expect from an occult/demonic possession flick set on a convent of Gothic era. Loved it.:D

>>: B+

Midsommer (2003)

A decent Danish Ghost story.

>>: B

Fearonsarms 10-13-2011 02:13 AM

When A Stranger Calls (1979) I was pleasantly surprised by this-it made up for its very unoriginal plot by utilizing a realistic bad guy character plus racketed up some genuinely tense and creepy moments.

ABjerg 10-13-2011 04:44 AM

Saw Mindhunters.

Fucking dope movie tbh.

And The Caller (2011)

Damn that one was IMO, original, cause I haven't seen somethin' like it before.

Redneck Zombies

I cant believe I actually bought this. But it was interesting to watch. Had some funny moments and lots of over the top gore.

Don't. They don't deserve it.

detune 10-15-2011 11:34 PM

Last three:

Solaris (original) - great
After Midnight (1989) - decent
Don't Look in the Basement - barely watchable, overrated

Zombi 2 (AKA Zombie, Zombie Flesh Eaters)

A zombie fights a shark. That alone is awesome!

One of my fave ever movies that-Fulci rules!

Just saw "The House That Would Not Die" (1970) this was in a similar vein to "House Of Dark Shadows" but where that concerns vampires this one concerns a haunted house/possession. It was very lame with a poor story and a bit of soapy characterization that backfires. Neither scary nor fun-avoid them both.

Okay, on Friday, I was at work, as a Security Guard, and I walked into my local Zellers, and found Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers (1995) on Dvd, because I have been searching for it for over two years. Never seen it before, either. Awful movie in my opinion, but I love those movies regardless.
