Very effective. Pretty neat. Recommended. * * * ½ http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg More than decent actioner, with some superb artwork and cinematography. A predictable storyline, yet an entertainer. * * * |
The Last House on the Left (1972) - Honestly, I wasn't expecting much going in to this. After watching it, I can say I was pleasantly surprised. There were no performances that blew me away, but the vileness of the villains carried the film to an uneasiness that is hard to match. The villains were cast really well and that's what makes this film so enjoyable. (Enjoyable might not be the right word, but it is a really good film.) I think this is my favorite Wes Craven movie.

I will definitely check it out. David Hess just seems like a sleazy motherfucker. It's perfect for that kind of role.

or High Lane started off great with some really exciting mountain climbing scenes....then turned into "crazy cannibal in the woods" film that could have been done better....and has been. |
Cannibal Campout (1988)
This is a VHS recorded movie, and if you enjoy over the top cheese and blood and guts check it out! I enjoyed it. |
"Megan is missing" 7/10
My least favorite horror genre.. There's a very good chance this will be the only time I'm ever gonna watch 10 minutes straight of someone digging a hole in the ground. |

An important movie nevertheless and not a bad watch. I personally just don't appreciate being disturbed. But unlike Eden Lake for instance, this one actually had a message to tell. |

Superb little time travel film on a lavish scale. I won't spoil it (the poster hints about the premise) but I will say this - more people need to see this film, so recommended to everyone. A real underrated 80s classic. * * * * |
Mr. Bean's Holiday - Silly of course, but still funny as fuck!

There's a third one which would make this quite a trio of sci-fi time travel superfests from the 80s - http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg Ah...the reasons why I love the 80s. |

The title alone sounds like utter crap. |

What'd you think of them V? I had a blast with both...they were definitely among the weaker superhero fare of the summer (nothing compared to First Class or Cap), but still thought they were damn good fun, especially Thor.
|
Loved them both, especially Thor.
2nd time seeing them (saw them in the theater when they were first released) and I appreciated Thor a lot more, and I thought Kenneth Branagh made a real classy superhero film. Not in the class of X-Men First Class, though. Green Lantern was a childhood dream come true. Grew up reading all those GL comics of the 80s and I always wanted to see one of my favorite superheroes on the big screen, and it became a reality. The highlights were undoubtedly Sinestro, CG-ed Parallax and the world of Oa, and the sore point? Ryan Reynolds. He has to be the most annoying choice to play Hal Jordan. Also, a stronger script might have helped the film as well. I thought a lot of things happened too quickly, and the actors were more cardboarded in their actions, with Reynolds giving exasperated looks more than once. Both films look absolutely gorgeous in High-Def. Specially Thor. |
"Insidious" (2011)
-Rose Byrne Plot: IMDB story of a family in search of help for their son, Dalton, who fell into a mysterious coma on one ordinary morning. Little do they know that there is much more to this endless sleep than meets the eye as they explore the paranormal, and rediscover the past; the key to getting their son back once and for all. Phantom's Review: Excellent, old fashioned ghost story. No splashy special FX. no over the top acting, just good solid performances from the all the stars a wonderful creepy atmosphere.and some genuine chills. This is what a ghost story should be like. -- |

"The edge" 8/10
I like this movie a lot. Both Hopkins and Baldwin did great. Charles Morse: "Don't die" Robert Green: "Don't tell me what to do" One of the best dialogue ever. :D |

No exactly Oscar worthy, but a solid performance. I just couldn't help to wonder how many scenes he was actually together with the rest of the cast. Probably not a lot. |
Just got through Poltergeist for the first time (I know, it's taken me this long...)
One of the least scary horror films I've ever seen...but probably one of the most entertaining. :) |
