All the adaptations except the last one are really goot

The New 'View from a Hill' and Number 13 are top notch and I think The Ash Tree is my favourite of the older ones though they're all good.

Jacques Tourneur's Night of the Demon is also based on a James story (Casting the Runes) - there is also a 70's TV version of it too.

Thanks man. I'll go hunting.

After a marathon of the Lord of the Rings films the other day, I lightened the tone with Toy Story 3. Ah, how that film saddens me, but I love the fact that the series has grown up with the generation that they were first introduced to (although, being too young for the cinema showing, I was raised on a now very worn out VHS between 1996-2001ish)

"Fright Night" 2011 6/10

Not exactly a bad watch, but very pale compared to the original. Also quite messy.

The Chris Sarandon cameo was a nice touch tho.

Vicious Vehicale Films

Christine (1983)

A beautiful (killer) car flick.

>>: B+

Trucks (1997)

I add this one just for fun. Better than its original...Maximum Overdrive, IMO. I think this is a pretty suitable 'remake' material for Michael Bay...along with that Optimus Prime truck, he can even also use some of the cast members from Transformers...as a spin-off of his most profitable film series.:D

>>: C+

Super Hybrid (2010)

It's cheesy but a decent killer car flick, IMO. Worth a watch.

:Blackbeard, The Pirate" (1952)
-Robert Newton, Linda Darnell

Plot: IMDB
In 1674, "reformed" pirate Sir Henry Morgan is a high official in Jamaica, but Edward Maynard hopes to win a large reward by proving Morgan still dabbles in piracy. Maynard goes undercover as ship's surgeon with a Morgan henchman...who's been supplanted by notorious Blackbeard himself. Also on the ship is Edwina Mansfield, seemingly a damsel in distress, to whom there's much more than meets the eye.

Phantom's Review: Good old fashioned swashbuckling adventure. Robert Newton (of "Treasure Island" fame) does his patented pirate act and is lots of fun. Barely an ounce of truth in this "true" story, but lots of pirate fun . (plus Linda Darnell is gorgeous)

Fright Night (VHS)

Thought I might revisit this one before I see the remake.

7/10

Scream 2 (VHS)

Shitty sequal isn't it.

4/10

Dreamscape (VHS)

I checked this out after I watched it, It was realeased earlier in the year 1984 than A nightmare on Elm street. That's interesting if you have seen both and remember one of the death scenes near the end, but I don't like spoilers so....

6.5/10

"Whistle and I'll come to you" 3/10

For a 40 minutes short story it was incredibly slow paced, only held up by the excentric main character, excellent played by this dude.

The old one.

Probably should've posted it in the "Classics". BUT NOW IT'S TOO LATE!!!

Bizarre 08-28-2011 03:14 PM

Just watched Planet Terror again.

I love that movie. Robert Rodriguez just makes awesome films. Totally disgusting at parts but brilliant!

Sleepaway Camp........

Romper Stomper

This movie is a classic, I know it did ok overseas when it was realesed but probably has been overlokked since. I urge anyone who hasn't seen it to do so, I see it as an Australian Clockwork Orange.

10/10

Stone

Biker classic, some rather bad acting, but great fun.

7/10

Predators

Second viewing, yes, this is aa great addition to the franchise, it far outways the Predator V ALien movies though I do like them aswell. I am looking forward to another instalement in the near future and Hopefully Robert Rodrigueze will be at the steering wheel again.

7.5/10

"The stalls of Barchester" 3/10

Contained much more dialogue than "Whistle and i'll come to you", but was equally dull nevertheless.

"Lost hearts" 8/10

Now THIS one was really, really good. Had some eerie moments that probably woul've scared the living crap out of me if i'd been around 10. But i'm 34, so i could take it.
