Low budget effort, but immensely watchable just for the characters and the pacy script. The plot was nothing new, but the director knew what he wanted from his actors and how his film should look, so it's basically a director's movie. From the suspense-filled beginning which builds up a great atmosphere, to the sucker punches which arrive and don't let you pause for breath, Babysitter Wanted has it all you want in a contemporary horror film. Recommended for a watch to all HDC-ians. And a strong contender for the latest compilation, IMO. * * * ½ |
The Manson Family (2003). This unflinching flick, nearly 15 years in the making, can hardly be called entertaining by most standards. Instead, Jim Van Bebber has created a flick that reanimates the essence of the stupidity and horror that the disciples of Charley have effected upon the world. The Family's reign of terror is all the more horrifying by account of its random and senseless motivations. The story itself will alienate all but the most ardent of movie fans, those that can see through the ostensibly bad in order to extract the true grit of Van Bebber's intent, which was to tell the story through the eyes of the Family. The acting was at times amateurish, but set upon its chaotic backdrop does not detract from the import of this film. The directing and camera work are MTV on psychedelics intense. For those prudish types stay away, for the leverage of nudity and animalistic gore have tipped the scales and reveal this flick to be on the doorsteps of rated X-ville. A difficult film to recommend, for those interested in the grim fringe of cinema, this might find a receptive audience.

"A Nightmare on Elm street" (2010) I love this movie, even though a lot of stuff in the movie was kinda low end in comparing with the older movies, I now own all of the Freddy Krueger movies, I really like them all, and I even bought a Wes Craven's New Nightmare Freddy Krueger & A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) Freddy Krueger figures both produced by NECA. Great stuff. :)http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...0-BOaO9b_kB38= |

"Four Guns To The Border" (1954)
-Rory Calhoun Plot: Four Mexico bound bank robbers on the run stop and help an aging gunfighter and his beautiful daughter escape from the Apaches. Phantom's Review: Entertaining little time waster. Nothing really new or original, but it's not a bad movie. The best part of the film is that it's filled with a sea of familiar faces (Jay Silverheels, Walter Brennan etc) Not a classic, but worth watching if Your a fan |
The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008). American jingoes beware- this film might at first seem rather anti-American. Given that context, this German film wonderfully portrays the Red inspired terrorism of the late 60s and 70s. With hardly a chance to breathe, this flick lands in a sprint that leads us into a 249 minute politically inspired uber-marathon of terrorist action and reaction. The story itself seems a rather accurate portrayal of the leftist movement of the time. Covering a wide span of time, nary a moment is available to elucidate the philosophy that inspired such a movement. Instead, time is well spent chronicling the movement, leaving the viewer to educate himself if he so chooses. The acting was marvelous, somehow capturing the ugly realities and blind passion that encompass being a terrorist. The direction was spot on, and the camera work mused the feelings of our players without shoving their cause into our face. The production values are huge, bait for the average lackey to watch a flick motivated by a cultural movement instead of Bruce Willis.

Saw 3D (2010) - Liked the movie, but thought they should have called it something better;
a) SAW VII or b) SAW: The Final Chapter or something. Great storyline/plot, etc. 8/10 |
Saw 7 was the best movie and I watched it in few days back at the recom endation of my friend . I find this 7th jigsaw series as a best one as compared to paranormal activity 2 movie . You can even enjoy this movie with scariest factors .

The Illusionist (2006). Hinting of romance, The Illusionist is a flick that hints at frivolity only to sucker punch once our defenses are down. Smartly old-fashioned, with fun transitions and the like, the real treat in the film are in fact many. The story itself is a rich mystery whose denouement is worth of its titular commerce. A period piece to the last, its rich sets and medieval locales help to multiply the grandiose pleasure of the eyes. The acting was nothing short of stellar, where the magnificence of Norton and Giamatti is matched by Biel and Sewell. Directed with sublime aplomb, what could have accounted for a deplorable joke is instead a movie to be contended with. In all, even with its romantic undertones, The Illusionist is a flick that transcends the boundaries of the most discriminate of purveyors. Merci beaucoup.

Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl - Loads of fun.
The Reflecting Skin - Wow. Creepy, unsettling and depressing. Very original. Great little gem that could easily fit on the 'Other HDC Top 100' list. |

People might have a love-hate relationship with this one. Personally, I liked it. * * * http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg Hostel meets TCM. Your welcome. You should love the characters in Blackout (mind you, it's a bit of a slow builder), and the gorific atmosphere in Carver.

Franklyn (2008). With a slow and confusing buildup, this flick threatens to be too clever for most patrons. But somehow getting lost in this flick is more a wonderful bliss than discombobulating tragedy. As it moves forward, there exists a sense that this confusion will soon be assuaged, a definite tribute to the confidence that the director inspires in his viewers. The story is of four lost souls that share the same canvas of a portrait comprised of four seemingly different palates. As the story unfolds, hints of intertwining fates tantalize the viewer, but the denouement is nothing short of spectacular when our heroes actualize fate's appointments. The acting was sublime, whose exclamation point was punctuated with Eva Green's exhilarating role. The direction offered a pace that kept the viewer perfectly in the dark, without losing interest, but instead in rapture with intrigue. The use of color to differentiate different worlds was amazing, bringing the notions of reality and fantasy into the same conference room for a sort of treaty mediation. The score was nothing less than the voice of this movie's soul, escorting us along its emotional byroads. For those comfortable outside of the realms of Hollywood's safety zone of commercial entertainment, Franklyn offers a clever and entertaining mug of fantasy in collusion with every man's quest for safe passage in life. Merci beaucoup.

Not one of my favourite movies...not even one of my favourite Fulci movies...but I had the chance to see a screening of a crackly old 35mm print for its 30th anniversary - how could any self-respecting horror fan turn that down? The movie has its flaws to be sure (and lots of 'em), but there's still that great Fulci atmosphere and some damn cool gore / set-pieces. Add the fact that it was a midnight show in a theatre full of half-drunk horror nuts heckling every single thing, and it makes for a pretty damn fun night. |
The American (2010)
http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/5972/theamerican.jpg A decent slow paced drama about an assassin who hides out in a small remote town in Italy with a new assignment where he only ordered to make & deliver a custom weapon for another assassin. But things turns out bit complicated later. As the central character is an assassin in the story so it may sounds like a action packed thriller, which is not in this case. This is more of a character focused story about a man who is lately 'losing his edge' in the profession where he involved. >>: B+ The Maze (2010) http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/9238/mazeeo.jpg >>: D |

I have seen Paranormal activity 2 movie. It's wonderful movie.

Henry Fool (1997). This is a story of a whirlwind force of character that blusters in and transmogrifies a community for both good and bad. In doing so, the essence of the neighborhood is somehow brought to engender the truth of being, and to simply live life through experience, eschewing society's rules of proper conduct. In doing so, a caricatured world is created that seems pleasantly larger than life in order to express some greater deed. The result is brilliant. The characters are quirky and disturbingly fun, largely unbelievable and yet endearing in a unique fashion. The dialog was memorably sensational, with Henry Fool leading the pack with his celebrated utterances. The direction was the culmination of Hal Hartley's greater experience rolled up into one amazing flick. AS well, the camera man was unobtrusively masterful, using the tricks of the trade with subtle wit. Both painfully direct and wickedly humorous, Henry Fool ends with the same symbolic mastery of his awe-inspiring entrance. Merci beaucoup.

Snuff: A Documentary About Killing on Camera: Somewhat interesting. Overall it didn't seem to bring too much new to the plate though. Mainly talking heads saying why they do or do not believe snuff exists. I did find it odd that even though they showed a few clips from Guinea Pig, they never actually mentioned Charlie sheen contacting the FBI about it. I found most of it to be mediocre at best, except for Mark L. Rosen's account of being presented a snuff film for possible distribution. His obvious emotion should cast aside any naive doubters when it comes to the question of whether or not snuff actually exists.
Isolation: Genetic experimentation goes horribly wrong on an isolated Irish dairy farm. Quite obviously preying on the fears of genetically modified foods this made for an alright movie. Nothing special, a fairly silly looking creature, and a painfully obvious ending made for an enjoyable enough movie. |

Elvis, if you havent seen this one yet, check it out, total riot. Dude runs around with ridiculous face paint and a live snake around his neck. Synopsis: When a drug dealer's assassin guns down his best friend and fellow policeman Lee (Robert Kim), troubled war-vet-turned-rogue-cop John Steele (Martin Kove) sets out for revenge -- only to discover the shooter is the son of an old enemy from his days in 'Nam. Now Steele breaks out the heavy artillery and takes the hurt straight to the gang leader's doorstep in this campy film cast in the mold of classic 1980s-era action-thrillers. |

"The Left Handed Gun" (1958)
-Paul Newman Plot: IMDB William Bonney - Billy the Kid - gets a job with a cattleman known as 'The Englishman,' and is befriended by the peaceful, religious man. But when a crooked sheriff and his men murder the Englishman because he plans to supply the local Army fort with his beef, Billy decides to avenge the death by killing the four men responsible, throwing the lives of everyone around him - Tom and Charlie, two hands he worked with; Pat Garrett, who is about to be married; and the kindly Mexican couple who take him in when he's in trouble - into turmoil, and endangering the General Amnesty set up by Governor Wallace to bring peace to the New Mexico Territory. Phantom's Review: Like most "True" stories, this film is about a spoonful of truth mixed with a barrel full of fiction. Things like the fact that Newman was 33 when he made this film or the fact that Billy was really right handed. But despite that and a few other things, this is actually a pretty good film. Newman (as usual) does a great job and the story is fun. Skip it if your into historical accuracy, but if you want to watch a good western, then enjoy |
Just finished watching Charlton Heston's The Omega Man starring Charlton Heston and co staring Anthony Zerbe and Rosalind Cash. Classic movie, love it. like the oridginal concept for I Am Legend, but way better in my opinion. 7.9 out of 10.

I saw this movie called "Live Animals" I got in a dvd pack yesterday, it's ok. It's pretty creepy but kinda slow. It's about this guy who kidnaps these 20 somethings and keeps them caged up like horses and tries to "break them".
