The Swarm. How bad is it? I'm not sure I can find the words to describe this pile of bee shit.Michael Caine seems to be in a 'roid rage half of the time and..seriously,how can any film make Henry Fonda look inept? I have to admit that I love bad movies ..for the badness. This one is incredibly atrocious on almost every level so I'm giving it two thumbs up!

Sherlock Holmes
pretty good...didn't hate it It might be because RD jr is so likable......anybody else in the role may have swayed my opinion. |
"The reeds" 5/10
Didn't hate it, but it didn't really do anything for me. It was just there.... in front of me. Going on. |
"Shutter Island" 7/10
Having read the book i couldn't help feeling a little bored throughout this movie. Coz when you take away all the surprises and mysticism, pretty much all that's left is an awful lot of talking. But Scorsese was spot on with the characters, atmosphere and scenery. Too bad he made the ending too obvious.. He fucked that up big time. :( |
Servants of Twilight
From a Dean Koontz novel. Builds suspense well for the first hour, then it gets all silly and soap operish at the same time. Fairly entertaining. |
"Lake Mungo" 1-2/10
Hated the docu style right away and started fast forwarding after 5 minutes, in hope of finding something remotely horrifying. I found nothing. Nothing climatic. Just a lot of people talking in a calm manner throuhout the entire movie. To sum it up. One word. BOOOORIIIIIIIING!!!! |
"The nightcomers" 5/10
A much needed prequel to "Turn of the screw". It's far from horror, but interesting anyway to see a take on how it all started. My only problem is the death of Peter Quint. In all Turn of the screw adaptions i've seen Peter Quint has comitted suicide by hanging himself. So why the hell did this prequell tell something completely different??? STUPID!!!! |
Started the made for TV series The Kingdom by Lars von Trier. This series is what first got him some notice in Denmark. So far it is like a mix between Lynch and the TV series ER. Six more episodes to go...

Yea, that series was a huge hit in Denmark, i'll tell you that. That year everybody was quoting some of those lines, such as "Det er uhyggeligt.." & "Dansk Jävla!!". To me it was a perfect blend of horror and comedy. Then Trier went on making some more episodes.... he shouldn't have. |
The House of the Devil (2009)
So I've been slack with my posting in this thread of late (partially because I've been too busy to watch much of anything) but this one was just so damn good that I had to post about it. A throwback to 80's classics that feels like it could have been made 25 years ago, yet manages to defy all expectations. Stylish, intellectual, beautifully shot and shockingly well acted...easily the best horror movie I've seen in recent memory. See it. |
"ZMD: zombies of mass destruction" 7/10
Nothing new under the sun, but it was good. Nice effects. The homos were a little annoying tho. |

Without 3D. The theater running it here doesn't have that privilege. Superb effects. Bland acting. Nice editing and cinematography. Good entertainer. My Rating - * * * |
Looked like a great one to see on the big screen. No 3D here in my town yet it's on the way apparently which I'm looking forward to.

Some films are made to be seen on the big screen (for eg. Avatar), and this is one of them. Unless you have a projector or a 9.1 Home Theater at home with at least a 60 inch TV. |
It'll be weird for me watching a fantasy movie without dudes like Lou Ferrigno in it :D
I saw the trailer at the theatre when I caught Shutter Island and fuck it looked cool. |

Death Proof (2007). What a wonderful homage to grimy films of times past. This was simply a fun flick with that Tarantino flair. Where it is light on action it is heavy on style and incredible dialogue. Quentin also seem to to have to have a thing for restaurant scenes, and this flick is no different. The acting was appropriate and enjoyable, with enough leg to keep most boys happy. The story was perfect for effect. Loved the direction and camera holder. The final scene was a fun catharsis for a fun flick. Merci beaucoup.

@Topic: My last seen movie was Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects (2005) Great movie deserves ****'s for gore and acting, also character traits, Otis is one of my favorite characters and it's a shame that Rufus (Tyler Mane) is killed at the beginning of the movie although I don't know if he's really in House of 1000 Corpses (2003) |
Zombieland: First watch. Thought it was pretty good. Plenty of laughs and easy enough to watch. Felt like I was watching a bad episode of 'The Wonder Years' at times though...

How To Train Your Dragon in 3D
Fuckers didn't even have it in 2D:mad: Not a horrible movie at all. Two thumbs up. The kids loved it, not bad viewing for the adult either even watching it all fuzzy cause I HATE THOSE FUCKING 3D GLASSES |
Dario Argento's Phenomena:)
8/10 Jennifer Connelly 10/10 for my sweetheart:) |

Regardless of what some think, this is a true modern horror masterpiece. |

You decide that? Is that fair? I personally thought it blew. But i guess that doesn't count. |
"Skjult/Hidden" 5-6/10
First 10 minutes were really really good and promising. Too bad the rest of the movie couldn't live up to that intro. |
"Screma Blacula Scream (1973)
Funky, baby, funky |
Quote:
The Shark Killers Victor Mature as a shark-phobic shark researcher in the Navy. Bad Influence with James Spader & Rob Lowe True Blood with Chad Lowe Scream, Blacula, Scream is, of course a classic of Blaxploitation cheese. The other three were average films without much to recommend them outside of some good acting. |
CLick-
Loved it. Shades of Ray Bradbury. Christopher Walken is great in this. Prime Evil- Incredibly lame satanic cult flick. Some decent nudity. Laughable. Roman- Written by Lucky Mc Kee and directed by Angela Bettis, this is a spritual successor to May. May was better. A lot of waiting for the resolution and the action to move along. May was better. |
Slime City
This movie was pretty cool, some good gore and a real cheesy vibe insure it is a lot of fun. Not a brilliant story or acting or anything, but b-grade supreme. 7.5/10 Children shouldn't play with dead things This was pretty slow, not much happening, it had a lot of bad jokes that didn't hit the mark and the action was left far to late. Not much going on here for a zombie flick. 4.5/10 |
The Changeling (1980). This was simply a solid ghost story laid out on film. There are no riveting special effects or other cheap scares, but instead a simple tale told with conviction. George C. Scott is wonderful in the movie, and his real-life wife and other cohorts are just as solid. The score in itself deserves mention, for its contributions made for a riveting movie experience. The direction was solid, and the only complaint might be the be the ostensibly apparent crew and camera shadows that make way too many debuts. Be that as it may, one of these errors actually raised some hairs as it came about at a critical moment, so maybe its presence was intentional. Who knows? Ashe.

"The Omen" (2006) 7/10
I actually liked it. Not far from being as good as the original. On the other hand they didn't really do anything new to the story. Just new faces doing the same ol scenes, and i must say the characters/actors in the original was better. Especially the Damien kid. The strongest parts in this one was definitely the death scenes. Especially the decapitation looked awsome and the death scene in the hospital was delightfully slow and cruel (normally i hate that, but i really dislike that actress). |
Interview with the Vampire- Decent film. Some quality imagery and memorable scenes scattered across the film, not a bad score either. Acting is a bit hit and miss and they could've pushed the boat out a bit more when delving into the relationships. Decent gothic/ vampire horror though.

What part of it blew, exactly? The premise, acting, direction, screenplay, cinematography? Of course it counts. Every single opinion of every horror fan counts in the genre. :) |
no angra's opinion doesn't count. ;)
in the mouth of madness is one of my favorites. |
Mr. Brooks
Not bad. |
The Night Visitor (1971). This incredible classic has been compared to Bergman and Hitchcock, a comparison that it wholly deserves. This mystery was wonderfully crafted, with a an ending that is more than memorable. Threatening to be a cheezy horror flick, the powerful cast obviates such a contention. The acting was sublime, with Max von Sydow, Liv Ullman, and Trevor Howard giving incredible performances. That score more than keeps the viewer creeped out. The frozen landscape upon which our antihero runs about in his underwear sets the stage for a chilling atmosphere. The direction here was solid, and the end result makes for a wonderful movie experience. Merci beaucoup.

The Curse(2005)
Not too bad if your into the whole blair witch documentary type of horror. It was nonetheless interesting. |
Fantastic Mr.Fox
wow, they took the book and really WENT with it,huh? Not what I was expecting. The kids loved it, thought it was very funny. |
Harry Brown: Decent vigilante/ revenge film. Caine puts in a solid peformance as an elderly ex-marine out for revenge, but its a bit too formulaic and doesn't quite capture the gritty reality they were trying to portray. Get Carter it aint, but it was a pretty decent film none the less.

What blew was the story and that most of it took place in the same room. Don't remember the acting, direction (But i guess it blew), screenplay nor the cinematography. I somehow always expect some kind of great horror story when Clive Barker is behind it. I don't remember ever to have been positively surprised tho... |
