The Quick and the Dead (1995). Great stuff for Rami fans and for those that appreciate fun and stylistic direction. Pretty thin plot so for those looking for a profound story and as such will likely be disappointed. i liked it though. Lots of soon to be stars here, with veterans like Gene Hackman killing their parts. He always makes for a wonderfully hateable villain. Mercie beaucoup.

Haha, I know. With a cassette tape in it, too.
And of course, the obligatory 80s dance scene.

Jennifer's Body--3/10

There's a lot of Megan Fox haters out there, but you can't blame her for this turd--she performed exactly how her character was written. Note to Diablo Cody: Trying to dress up a poor script with trendy pop snark doesn't look clever, it looks pathetic.

Karas: The Prophecy

This was a really neat anime movie. Unfortunately it sufferes from some pacing issues and was so slow in a few parts. The animation style was really awesome though and made up for any issues I found. I don't quite know how to explain it. In scenes where particularly higtech things were happening, or the Karas were featured, it seemed like stuff was jumping out of the screen. I did some reading and they used 2d and 3d together. 2D frames within a 3d animation. It's something I've never seen before and blew my mind. The English dub (though not usually my preferance) was well done.

I suggest this for anime fans, or fans of any animation at all.

Went and saw "The Wolfman" this past weekend. Really disappointing - the trailers made it look like it was going to be amazing, but the final product was boring and wooden. A shame too - it would have been nice to see a classic Universal Monster return. I don't have any problem with remakes - I'm still really excited to see the new remake of Romero's "The Crazies" when it opens next Friday - but Wolfman let me down.

Aliens- Was on TV, missed the first 1/2 hour or so but still had to watch it when I saw it was on. Now I am wishing I'd just stuck my DVD of it on and watched it from the start. Even though I've seen it many time before this will be bugging me until I watch it from the start again now... Hate it when I do that.

I think I've seen this, I don't remember, because I watch so many movies. May have to track down a copy again so I can see if I saw it. Have you seen the sequel yet? "Karas: The Revelation".

----------------

I finally saw "Fritz the Cat" (1972), now to watch "The Nine Lives of Fritz the Cat" (1974).

Haven't but I am looking for it. The first one was on IFC Canada today. Hopefully the sequel is as visually stunning.

PVC-1 (2007)

In Colombia, a woman and her family became the victim of an unusual act of terrorism. Unable to pay a ransom, the mother is turned into a human time bomb and is now trapped in a physical and mental circumstance from which she and her family try to break free.

A gripping thriller told in real time, the most fascinating part is that its full 85-minute running time is one continuous shot, with no cuts and no editing but a shocking ending. Highly Recommended.

y the numbers but very entertaining Martial Arts/Action flick starring (well sort of) aging veterans of the genre JCVD (who looks to be wearing too much make up) and Dolph Lungren...After the intial Universal Soldier film they did a bunch of forgettable sequals which this film tops in every way...MMA fighter Mike Kyle is suprisingly good in a major role as is fellow fighter Andrei Arlovski (in an Arnie Terminator sorta way)..

You can really see the influence that mixed martial arts has had on the genre by no only using the fighters as actors but also incorporating the mma style of combat - there are Thai influenced strikes as well as ground movies like triangles and armbars..

If, like me, you're as thick as shit and enjoy grown men beating shit out of each other then you might enjoy this....I can't help but like VanDamme to this day unlike the aging Segal who i seem to despise in direct proportion of his ever growing waist..Dolph on the otherhand was very underused in this film but on the plus side there is NO ROMANCE AT ALL...

JCVD- Impressive film. Well put together story and suprisingly strong peformance from Van Damme. Anyone hoping to see a typical Van Damme action film should skip it, but this is a really solid drama/ dark comedy. It's not perfect but its got more than enough to make it well worth checking out.

I saw that at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival), and Hayao Miyazaki was there and gave a speech in Japanese while a translator translated everything he said into English. The only thing I didn't like about the movie that it wasn't in the original Japanese with English subs, it was English dubbed.
