A very well-made film, IMO. Certainly a notch above Blair Witch in terms of impact. Full credit to the makers for managing to create this on their super low budget. |
New Waterford Girl
Kind of boring, but touching at the same time. I can def. get the whole "Woe is me, I'm from a small town." thing. However, the class is too early in the day for me to be anything but tired while in a dark room, watching dreary movies. This Canadian Film studies class is gonna kill me if we don't get to some Cronenberg soon. |
The Lovely Bones (2009)
Good, but inconsistent. Had some amazing visuals and a handful of powerful moments, but it was filled with so many disgustingly saccharine and sentimental scenes that I found myself shaking my head on a regular basis. It's a pretty-looking movie with an interesting concept and some solid performances...but that's about it. Jackson is capable of far better. |
Ginger Snaps - I loved it <3

The Book of Eli
My boss took a bunch of us to see this last night and I'm still not sure how I feel about it.It was good but I was hoping for a lot more action than there was. There was some solid performances from both Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman.I just didnt care to much for the ending. |
The Reader.
Good film, and whilst I'm not complaining about Kate Winslet there was an awful lot of not really needed nudity. |

Like Elvis said, the second one is also pretty good. The third is a prequel and kinda mediocre imo. #2 is def. worth a watch though. |
500 days of summer...
Not what I expected going into the film but I really liked it. Lives up to the hype. |

Watched the new Trailer Park Boys flick. A couple of really funny moments but this definitely works better as a TV show. Jim Lahey was one drunk motherfucker in this one :D

100 Feet (2008). A mediocre ghost story at best. The story was pretty light. The best part were some of the effects. Not a total waste, but nothing to run out and see. Ashe.

Terror Train.
Just wondering how many other real life magicians played a prominent role in films, especially horror? David Copperfield was pretty impressive. |
Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning
We were just talking about the series, and then the good ol' CBC played it last night as their late night movie. I figured I would take one for the team, and report back with the bad news. However, it turned out to be a pretty good movie. For a Canadian movie, with what I assume (like most Canadian films) had a low budget, it was actually a pretty decent period piece with some Canadian history imbedded in it. Some of the movie reminded me of grade school history classes where we learned about the fur trade, and other parts had me reminescing about actors from tv shows I watched in grade school. There were actually some reallly cinematic scenes, with great camera and beautiful lighting. Also Emily Perkins is gorgeous with her hair pulled back from her face. I'd suggest it for people who were fans of the first 2. |
I'll have to give that Ginger Snaps flick a day in court then MM.

Audition, :P thats one creeper of a flick man, at first i thought someone had played a joke on me, goddam is that a fucking crazy movie!!!

The Ring Two (2005). The best thing about this one was that it was not a rehash of the Japanese version, but then again it that may have saved it. The Ring Two was flat. i thought it started out ok, but the scares never manifested, nor was an eerie atmosphere anywhere to be found. The story itself was ok. The acting was fine as well. It it just seems odd that Hideo Nakat could not create the same outright feeling that something was truly amiss that emanated out of Ringu 1 and 2. Oh well, not a total waste save for some high expectations unmet. Ashe.
