Haha, awesome. This was filmed (and takes place in) Bloomington IN, which is pretty much right where I grew up.

Tragic real-life Sunset Boulevard. Grim biography of the Bouvier Beale mother/daughter aunt/cousin of Jackie Onassis who wasted away in their decrepit estate. Brilliant performance by Jessica Lange, though not-so-brilliant performance by Drew Barrimore (painful, actually). Sad, yet captivating.

4/5.

Have you ever seen the original documentary?

The Inglorious Bastards (1978). The loose fodder for Tarantino's latest, this version is just a blast of a war movie. The acting is solid, the dialogue great, the story playful. There is no lack of action, with guns a sprayin' and bodies a flyin'. The opening credits pretty much show ya what this movie is all about. All in all great guy fun. Ashe.

quarentine

excellent remake of REC.

if you feel you need to remake a film for english audiences - this is the way to do it

iSeymore 01-11-2010 09:11 AM

Well, If you're talking about last seen General movie; it'd have to be Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) if you're talking about Horror movie; then it'd have to be Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986) great modern horror movie, Jason really did himself in this one as a Zombie.

"Pontypool" 5/10

Naaah...

I wanna see things happen. Not just hear about them.

The last 30 minutes were alright tho. Liked the idea.

"How to Lose Friends & Alienate People" 6-7/10

The title and Simon Pegg playing the lead sold this one.

And Simon Pegg WAS funny. His flair for comedy timing is what i really love about him. Sadly, I can't say the same about anyone else involved. Maybe except for Jeff Bridges.

The story really wasn't very good or funny and the title had unfortunately very little to do with the actual movie. Clever..

So the movie had pretty much only Pegg going for it, besides a whole lot of famous faces (most of them with no lines).

Yeah, it's incredibly fascinating. I'd recommend checking out the B-take "sequel" Beales of Grey Gardens for more after watching the first one, provided you're interested enough.

Let me know what you think, for sure.

Rob Zombie's Halloween II (2009) I can't lie... the only thing I disliked about this movie was the fact that Michael Myers keeps seeing his mother and himself as a child wearing all white and a clown outfit from the previous Halloween movie. Also, the fact that Laurie Strode and Annie Brackett keep on arguing with eachother throughout the movie, and that Doctor Samuel Loomis is a whiny rich author and such, I loved the Michael Myers kills better in this film than in the previous films though, pretty original and pretty brootal.

The simpsons movie.

Eugh.

very effective creepy little film. well done

Frailty

Love this one.

Friday the 13th (2009)

Second viewing of this and I think it just drags on a bit and isn't it's own movie enough. It borrows a lot and though the makers will defend this and say it is paying homage, really with the oppurtunity they were given they should have tried to be more origanal.

6/10

Ironman

This was a lot better than I expected, not to over the top.

7.5/10

I bury the living

This movie was just so silly, ok entertainment though.

5/10

Bad Taste

So funny, I forgot how great this flick is, Dereks don't run.

8.5/10

Pyscho beach party

This is a pretty good oddball slasher, I just wish Kimberly Davies had got her tits out.

7/10

Gone

This movie really took a long time to get going, and it never really explains itself. Pointless crap.

4/10

Rise of the foot soldier

Another British movie about gangsters and how tough they all are..... based on a true story, but how much do you believe what these crims tell you. Good movie though.

6.5/10

Transiberian

This movie wasn't what I was expecting, and the story was pretty weak, it could have all been resolved a lot earlier. Kind of pointless and a waste of a good concept.

4/10

Quite brilliantly too IMO. I like how it has the style of the 70s supernatural stuff without it being an obvious homage.

psycho d 01-13-2010 04:53 AM

Hell Ride (2008). i think most reviewers saw that Tarantino was involved and assumed that it would be Tarantino awesome. Instead it was just a sex filled, hog ridin' homage to biker flicks. With no lack of hot chicks sans clothes and violence, i thought it a fun movie and was thoroughly entertained. i will admit that the dialoque tried hard to be cool but fell a bit short. Ashe.

Exactly. I think that's why it surprised me so much, just how natural it was.

Anyone seen "wheels of fire"?
Some Mad Max looking thing...though yeah I'm not sure if it was the VHS quality or what but it looked and sounded terrible.
Is it worth persisting?

Straker 01-14-2010 05:59 AM

Scanners II- Might not be up to the standard of the first, but its a decent film.

Fitzcarraldo (1982)

http://shopping.yahoo.com/video/imag.../34/144534.jpg

A remarkable film that details entrepreneur Fitzcarraldo's attempts to mine rubber in order to raise money to accomplish his dream -- to build an opera house in the middle of the Peruvian jungle. Eager to see more of Werner Herzog films in future.

Slightly different from the usual firm films but still a bit muddled...Excellent performance from the 2 leads (especially Liam Boyle) and some nice support from the always excellent Stephen Graham...

Absolutely great Sound tracks too..

Its no masterpiece but I like it. Pretty hard to come by a decent quality tape of it mines a bit beaten up. Shit like 2019: After The Fall Of New York or 2020: Texas Gladiators is way better. Endgame is dope too its a mad mash up of Mad Max, Rollerballl and The Running Man.
