Movie Marathon on Eid Holidays: Day 1
Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus (2009)
If you have already seen the trailer, then you have seen it all. >>: D Shaun of the Dead (2004) Definitely one of the best but doesn't worth to win a match or tourney by competing with modern classics like Let the Right One In or even Devil's Backbone. >>: A- Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972) Though may be not as good as the first one but I really enjoyed it overall. I think it'd be great if they could go for any of the proposed sequels like The Brides of Phibes or Phibes Resurrectus/ Dr. Phibes in the holy land / The Seven Fates of Dr. Phibes / or the one where Phibes facing a group of Satanists led by Dr. Vesalius' adult son as they planned. >>: B+ True True Lie (2006) http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/4071/ttlie.jpg >>: C+ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) >>: B+ |

Demons of the Mind (1972)
Pleasant surprise this one. Quite a strong story, and like most Hammer films, absolutely looks the part. Its a tale of suicide, incest, murder and insanity in equal measure, defo worth a look. |
Coraline A- ....I thought it was great. I really like the stop-animation.
|
Falling Down
Probably the best Michael Douglas flick |
Prince of Darkness.
|
Welcome To The Dollhouse
Last time I watched this it seemed a bit dated but really enjoyed it this time round. Quote:

Police Academy 4
Gene,Gene built a machine, Jo, Jo made it go...... 7/10 |
P2 (2007). This turned out to be a decent flick, and i am 100% absolutely positive that i was in no way shape or form influenced by Rachel Nichol's pulchritrudinous attributes:

I just rewatched Splinter last night. Not a bad little film.
|
Les diaboliques
A classic |
reincarnation.
not bad, but Salvage did it better |
Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III
Plenty of low points, but entertaining enough. |
"Von Richthofen and Brown" (1971)
One of Roger Corman's best movies. The true story of Manfred Von Richthofen A.K.A. The Red Baron and Roy Brown the man credited with shooting down the Baron. Great aerial fight scenes, some good acting and an interesting story. I remember seeing this movie way back in the early '70's and I liked it, so when I saw it again recently I was pleasantly surprised that the film still held up. |
The Incredible Melting Man
Rick Baker sure did some amazing work. Puts all the CGI stuff these days to shame. |
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Watched this with a friend today that had never seen it. Made in U.S.A. (1966) Like most of Godard's color work, it seems impenetrable at first, but in (and with) time reveals itself as a confident, ferocious, "everything but the kitchen sink" piece of filmmaking. A cinematic scrapbook for the political, social, literary, and even a lingering sense of panic; Godard barrages us with references, plot holes (?), faulty editing, cartoonish violence, non-sequiturs, all pasted together and propelled with an acute force, what might be the undoing of cinematic technique. For my money, it's one of the best of Godard's work. The mark of a true revolutionary and maverick egoist (which works, for him). |
Monster Camp
A movie about LARPing... interesting. |
Alien- 10/10
Aliens- 10/10 Alien Vs. Predator- Lol/10 |
Observe and Report
Kind of like Falling down meets Paul Blart? Strange kind've movie. ...and what the fuck happened to the scary movie chicks face??? |
GOTCHA
http://www.abulsme.com/images/gotchaW200.jpg I remember this movie fondly from the 80s....It held up pretty well after revisiting it. Linda Florentino is hot. you know you are watching an 80s movie when two of the songs featured are from Frankie Goes To Hollywood. |

The Devils Backbone

The Sentinel (1977).

The Haunted World of El Superbeasto
Going to see The Informant in a couple hours! |
Quote:
How was El Superbeasto, by the way? |
Some godawful piece of shit horror movie with Peter Delouise and Karen Black that was so awful I couldn't even finish watching it.
|
Twin Peaks: Fire walk with me.
Blue Velvet Mulholland Drive This is over the last 3 days. Dusk is having some Lynch week or something. |

Cannonball
Slightly entertaining, but no real guts to it. 5.5/10 |
Quote:
El Superbeasto was fun, it definitely wasn't good. But I'd say it's worth a watch if you aren't easily offended and think it would be funny to watch cartoons doing the nastiest, filthiest things possible without catching an X-Rating. Some of the voice talents are great, especially Paul Giamatti as Dr. Satan and Tom Kenny (Spongebob Squarepants) as Otto the Ape. Just crazy, off-the-wall shit. |
Children Of The Corn - 6/10
Watched it on cable yesterday. I had not seen it in years. I use to love it as a kid, but it doesn't stand the test of time. |
last night IFC played Cronenberg's CRASH followed by THE SWEET HEREAFTER...people turned on by automobile accidents followed by a town destroyed by one.
had to watch such a demented double-bill. |
Damn- how did I miss that?
|
The Elephant Man (1980)
Another David Lynch masterpiece. More straight forward than most of his work, but still brimming with his incomparable style. Merrick story has always been close to my heart - I saw a wonderful stage adaption when I was very young - and this version more than did him justice. Quite possibly Lynch's most touching and emotional work, and one of his best without a doubt. |
The Fog (1980).
Shrooms. :( |
The Burning
Chocolate (from beginning to end finally) I can't wait for Raging Phoenix, Jeeja is AMAZING. |
There's an annual movie festival going on in a town not too far from me this weekend. Tonight I went and got to see Zombi 2 (1979) on the big screen.
And I have to say, you haven't seen the eye gouging scene or the zombie vs. shark scene until you've seen them projected at a height of 30 feet right in front of you. |
Just had a evil child double bill with The Good Son and The Omen.
|
What's The Good Son like? Saw it quite some time ago but don't really remember much of it.
