Tell No One. This thriller keeps things rolling with interesting twists on a convoluted story. Most of the acting was solid. My only problem was that it was a bit ambitious in its efforts to tie things together in the end. Ashe.

A haunting in connecticut. i saw it last night and it was pretty good. my only problem was from what i read then sort of made it there own. When i read about the history it just didnt match the movie but i dont know. It definatly had me scared to sleep alone lol.

Started to watch ZOMBIE 3 today but found it so cheap and amateurish I gave up on it. I like Fulci but this time --- I don't know what happened. ZOMBIE was so cool.

Dance of the Dead....much better than expected horror/comedy. A real ROTLD feel to it. Ample gore.....just missing the female breast.

Midnight Meat Train. Visually stunning and crisp gore scenes. i think that the camera-work and direction was the best part of this film Acting worked well enough. Plot was pretty decent as well. Overall a good horror/thriller. Ashe.

THE ORPHANAGE. Good entertaining ghost story, excellent photography. Spanish actress Belen Rueda is fascinating. Rated R for disturbing content but I didn't see anything that wouldn't fit snugly into a PG-13 film. Strongly suspect R rating was for very naughty words modestly sprinkled throughout.

I watched both versions of Funny Games recently - and while I think they're both great flicks, I prefer the American version. It seemed like it was cast far better, and the visual style was better, as well.

Punisher: War Zone
It was about what I expected. Decent acting(although Billy could have been a little less gaudy, even for a comic book movie), good action, and more entertaining than the previous tries. |
Battle Royale. Most enjoyable, but it was not the epic i was expecting. Love the way they act out their deaths. Hilarious. Ashe.

I Wake Up Screaming
Awesome little film-noir thriller. A bit dull in places and the mystery aspect was a bit of a letdown, but the ending was spectacular. The Cornell character was what really made the film - Laird Cregar had great presence on screen, and the character was just brilliantly written. Most memorable part of the film for sure. |

Rock'n'rolla. 9/10 A nice mix of Smokin Aces and Shoot 'em up, witha little bit of Ocean's 11 remake. I loved it.
Fido 10/10 can't believe I have never seen this, given my obsession with the 50's and with zombies. So cheesy, and yes, so perfect. Green screen when they are driving in cars even though they had the budget to do otherwise just reminded me of all my favourite B-movies. Too cute. |
Fido is grrrrreeeeeaaat!
And the writer, Robert Chomiak is a super nice guy who did a spot for NEW Radio last Halloween. |
Hatchet (2006)
Pretty cool slasher flick. Great ending. -7/10. A Scanner Darkly (2006) Wow, what a crazy flick. -8.5/10. |
Dark City. Loved the uber dark atmosphere of this flick, the camera work, etc. The story-line seemed to be moving along so nicely, until the climax. It was just cheezey.
***Spoiler Alert*** All that work and end it w/ an alien/sci-fi Scanners duel ripoff. That was horrible. What truly killed it for me, though, was the end, which was an almost carbon copy of Harold Goldfarb's dream in Requiem for a Dream. i loved that scene (in Requiem) where Harold sees Marion standing at the end of the pier in a dress. What was Aronofsky thinking, borrowing this scene from Dark City and using it in Requiem, complete with the same actress (Jennifer Connelly)? WTF? Maybe a valium with a vodka chaser will make it all better. Ashe. d |

***Dark City spoiler alert*** i think that the premise of the ending was fine, but the way it was played out just reeked of Scanners. i just think the the direction could have given it a different feel and appearance. The movie, to me at least, had a pretty fresh look to it up to that point, and then BAM! =>Scanners intense consternation face-off. i agree, though, that that was the most plausible premise for the ending. The Soloist
Foxx and Downey Jr. both give very good performances, but beyond that this one isn't anything new or exciting. Worth a watch if you're a big fan of either of the leads, but otherwise it's nothing special. |
Brotherhood of Blood
Even Sid Haig & Ken Foree, both horribly miscast as vampires can't save this turkey. |
From Dusk Til Dawn 2. Bruce Cambell's short cameo was the only good thing about it.

Trainspotting, now I'm off to try and read it again. Accent's aren't too cool when written.

The Fall
I wasn't too impressed at the start, but once it gets going this is a wonderful movie. It takes a little while before you can really care about the characters or the plot, but once you get to understand Roy's character, the film is absolutely fantastic. Not to mention the visuals, which are mindblowingly gorgeous. |

Audrey Rose (1977) 4-5/10
First half was good, last half felt VERY long.. Deathdream (1974) 7-8/10 Totally took me by surprise. Even tho it was slow paced it never got boring and Richard Backus was perfectly odd, creepy and facinating. "Taken" 7/10 Good entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less. |

I read on IMDB that a remake will be made in the near future. I don't think that's such a bad idea in this case. :) "Fear of the dark" (2002) 5/10 Liked the idea, but... way too much talking and too little horror ruined what could've been a horror classic. A shame since the monsters were actually pretty scary looking. |
Earlier today, I watched the movies...
Behind The Mask: Leslie Vernon and Hannibal Rising... I wasn't too thrilled about Behind The Mask. Hannibal Rising peaked my curiousity. The character Hannibal Lecter is one of my favorite horror characters of all-time. Now as you know, it is hard to compare to the great Anthony Hopkins. The young actor (Gaspard Ulliel) did an ok job. |
Merrily We Go to Hell (1932)
Frederic March and Sylvia Sidney both give powerhouse performances as newlyweds whose lives are torn apart by March's character's alcoholism. A tragic story well told and perfectly performed. Very impressive film. |
Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D-WOW:)
Much better than non-3D |
