"Darkman" (1990)

One of my favorite Sam Rami movies.

Wanted

I didn't want to watch this originally, thought it would be derivative and not have much to offer. Turned out be be a damn good action flick with an interesting story.

cheebacheeba 04-08-2009 06:38 PM

You should really try to grab the trade paperback of the WANTED comic.
Much, much better.

Fast & Furious (2009)

Only theatrical movie experience in my recent tour of Thailand. Actually I was more interested to see the new Thai gore fest Meat Grinder but I couldn't manage the time to see that as my friends more or like forcefully drag me to see F&F. Anyway, it was pretty entertaining, good races and fairly action packed. Better than the previous sequels of the series.

When Worlds Collide (1951)

Hahaha...oh, the naivety of 50's sci-fi. Very entertaining movie, but utterly devoid of logic - which, of course, if half the fun of 50's sci-fi in the first place :D

As much as I enjoyed it, there seemed to be a lot of wasted potential there. Personally, I would have liked to see more of how the rest of the world was coping with doomsday, rather than just the happy-go-lucky scientists in the camp. Plus, there could be a whole other movie after they succeed in landing on Zyra. That's just a goldmine of possibilities...

I'm sure the forthcoming remake will make better use of the potential

Love that film, you're right about the full potential not being realized but its such a good story even with the holes.

Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) - 10/10.

One of the funniest films I've ever seen.

scouse mac 04-09-2009 04:44 PM

Toolbox Murders (2003)

Tobe Hoopers remake is a film well worth checking out. Decent production value, solid performances and inventive death scenes that arent unnecessarily graphic but leave nothing to the imagination either. There is enough here to keep you guessing as to who the killer is with a smattering of tension in the right places. Have a look.

The Spirit

sure it had the visual style of Sin City....but thats about it.....lost interest at about the twenty minute mark.

Boogeyman 2. who knew Henry played such an important role :p

neverending 04-09-2009 09:45 PM

Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer

Still holds up to anything produced today. Gritty, savage, well directed and acted. One of the greatest.

City Heat

Newb made reference to this film a month or so ago and saw it was on TCM last night so decided to give another watch.

Opinion of it didnt change, I still liked the things which were good ie; Clint Eastwood and Madeline Kahn and still disliked the same things ie; Burt Reynolds.

Its less than it should be.

Dante'sInferno 04-10-2009 02:22 PM

Hellraiser 2 and 3. I'm liking these allot, now all i have to see is Hellworld, then I will have seen them all.

Ginger Snaps 3, it was really good, I think the 1st one is still my favorite.

good fun for young fans of the cartoon ... not much to hold an adults interest

something of interest of this film :

At one point Burt was hit with a real chair instead of a break away chair during a stunt. it had a huge impact on him - his injury caused him to become addicted to painkillers for a long time.

shame since he and clint were close and always wanted to do a film together.

The Mothman 04-10-2009 11:06 PM

Bullitt
The car chase in this one os one of the best i've seen, beats the one in The French Connection.

I d suggest to keep Mark away from this one. Watch it alone.

Autopsy

Didn't care for it. Thought the progression of the story was choppy.

From Russia With Love

Quite possibly my favourite Bond, close between it and Goldfinger

Ong Bak 2

Was let down by this. Not what I expected from a Tony Jaa movie.

The_Return 04-11-2009 05:36 PM

Twilight

Friend of mine convinced me to watch it with her...wasn't really as awful as I was expecting, but that isn't saying much. The girl that played Bella was stuck in the same damn expression the whole movie, and even though the actor playing Edward seemed bearable, the mindnumbingly awful script made him look like a dolt.

It was pretty much what I expected, really. Tween vampire fluff - no redeeming qualities, but vaguely watchable.

Resident Evil

Just put this one on in the background while I organized my DVDs. Still pretty enjoyable...not much to it, but it's pretty slick and makes for decent entertainment.

Untraceable

Slow moving and predictable, formulaic stuff and its attempt to make some sort of commentary on todays internet/media society is fairly weak at best. Essentially its one long CSI episode, which is no bad thing but there is nothing special here.

psycho d 04-12-2009 07:47 AM

Fido. i had high expectations for this flick, and it did not let me down one bit. Great flick and well deserving of its incredibly high ratings. Then i watched:
Frontier(s). The exact opposite of Fido, but in a good way. Damn, that was a brutal flick. Very well done. Kinda strange ending (for a movie), not that that is a bad thing.
Ashe.

"Changeling" 7/10

"Wall-E" 5/10

Adorable robot, nice scenery, but what a hopeless story and the lines almost gave me a headache.

Wall-E: EEEEVAAAAAAAAA

Wall-E: EEEEEEEEEEVAAAAAAAAAAAA
Wall-E: EEEVAAAAAAAAAA

Is it just me or does Disney use the same storyline in every other movie they make?

"Monsters vs. aliens" 8/10

Instantly became one of my favorite animated movies.

Change your signature. Please. It's driving my OCD nuts.

Creep- 5/10 It made absolutely no sense. Rayne said it was "great." Wrong.

Monster Man- 5/10 It sucked, but it was mildly humorous, and the monster truck action was pretty good. And the ending is hysterical!

Dead Like Me: Life After Death

No Rube, different Daisy who I didn't like at all, story wasn't very interesting either, but it wasn't all that bad. Its basically a throwaway, extended episode of the show that's watchable with a few laughs.
