The Eagle Has Landed

Nothing special. Good performances, but the plot was pretty muddled.

Sutherland steals every scene he's in though, as always - highlight of the movie for sure.

Henry:Portrait of a serial killer. I always thought would have sucked but boy was I wrong. Great fucking movie.

About to watch April Fools day then Malevolence then maybe session 9.

Oh, yeah. Excellent film, and incredibly intense. Session 9 is great, too. You'll love it, hopefully.

Rewatched the Notorious Bettie Page and Tales of Terror today. They were lacking their usual shine and ability to cheer me up, but it's hard to connect with characters when you are feeling apathetic. God I am coming off as emo.

Joshua

I think I had built it up a bit to much in my mind from everything I had read, Still it was a great movie.. He looked like a ventriloquist dool somewhat don't you think?

7/10

Divorce, Italian Style (1961) - 9/10.

Great Italian film. Highly reccomended.

I Am Sam (2001) - 8/10.
Sean Penn is definetly a great actor, worth checking out.

Dante'sInferno 02-01-2009 09:34 AM

Death Proof, pretty good flick.

Half Broken Things (2008)

A decent psychological drama made for TV.

CrimsonFiend138 02-01-2009 01:45 PM

I never got to watch Session 9 :(. I saw it a few years ago and wasn't really into it so i want to see it again.

I did get to so..So I married an Axe murderer and thought it was great.

Also watched Eurotrip, it was something I never really had the urge to see but I thought it was pretty funny.

It definately got theatrical release here in the States, it just didn't last very long. I wanted to see it- read and liked the book.

That's how I had been untill last week, then kicked back into gear... No movies for 3 weeks or a month, then 7 or so in less than a week.

Elvis_Christ 02-01-2009 04:41 PM

I just haven't been in the mood for movies lately. Guess its summer so I've got the stereo on more and sitting outside drinking beer.

urgeok2 02-01-2009 05:58 PM

Doctor Detroit.

for the first time ever in widescreen ... nice crisp picture and soundtrack ...
well worth the wait.

Elvis_Christ 02-01-2009 07:01 PM

Killer I've been meaning to check out Doctor Detroit again for a long time. I'll have to grab the DVD if I come across it.

The Lost Weekend

Man, Ray Milland is one hell of an actor. What a phenomenal performance!

Brilliant character study. The pacing was a bit poor, but Milland carried the whole thing and kept me spellbound throughout. Easily one of the greatest performances on film...I'm in awe.

Alright buddy, I've got a sincere recommendation for you.

Days of Wine and Roses (1962)

Last year I watched The Lost Weekend (because I'm a big Wilder fan) and was very impressed, so I decided to catch a few more famous movies on alcoholism. I saw this Blake Edwards film a few days after and it made The Lost Weekend look like Snow White.

While Wilder's film makes a nice ctitique of alcohol abuse in America, Edwards presented a dark, hepless, abysmal crack at it. Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick honestly scare the shit out of me in this, and Lemmon's take has to be one of the best (and certainly his finest) performances I've ever seen.

See this film.

Death_for_all 02-02-2009 03:43 AM

last movie i watched was.....TEETH, and it was shite!

hellfire1 02-02-2009 04:19 AM

Last week, bf and I watched the Planet of the Apes box set:

Planet of the Apes;
Beneath the Planet of the Apes;
Escape from the Planet of the Apes;
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes;
and Battle for the Planet of the Apes.

Really enjoyable, and not as cheesy as I initially thought they were going to be, the last one being the weakest of the 5.

I'll be on the lookout for this one for sure...sounds fantastic. Thanks!

Interesting.

How do you rate Burton's remake?

Total crap and completely unnecessary. I barely even remember Burton's remake, while the original is something that will stay with you for a while.

Funny how a movie 30 years older is technically superior in all aspects when compared to the more sophisticated remake.

And I am not talking about the effects.

Taken

Ass-kicking good times. It rides the line between rightous intentions and brutal violence with a sure-handed ease. The scripting is tight, the lensing is fantastic and Liam Neeson is a genuine badass - I would not want him to hit me.

I can see this making it to my top 11 of '09 list.

8.5/10

Farewell, Friend (Honor Amongst Theives) 1968

Charles Bronson and Alain Delon are stuck in a safe during a robbery, where they try to unravel just who it is that fucked them over and why.

Good tough-guy stuff with a cool, mod vibe, but the plot is a bit ridiculous... could use a remake ;)

You thinking of venturing away from the horror genre?

My partern and I write horror, thriller, crime, scifi, fight flicks and have even tried our hand at a contemporary Samurai screenplay - you know all the geeky shit. But we'll always return to horror - it's just so much fucking fun!

Going to have to pen a western soon.

Elvis_Christ 02-02-2009 03:56 PM

Backwoods

Two couples go vacationing in the North Spain Basque countryside and get trapped in a horrible situation. I really enjoyed this. Gary Oldman, of course, is great.

Feast 2

Did they run out of money when makeing this? That's what the ending seemed like, as though they just couldn't afford to shoot anymore...

Otherwise it was pretty entertaining, though the first one is the better movie.. I gues this never had a chance of being a better movie, not the way it followed so much in the first ones foot steps. Good fun though.

6.5/10

The Notorious Betty Page

I felt it was a bit flat, maybe it's just the main character (Betty) was just so dim... I liked the style though.

Yes, they did. You should see what's become of The Midnight Man - directorial debut of Feast co-writer Marcus Dunstan

My Bloody Valentine 3-D

Some of the worst acting ever committed to film, a pathetic script, over-the-top gore, random gratuitous nudity, and ridiculous plot twist: all in 3-D.

If you ask me, thats the perfect recipe for a slasher flick.

Really, really fun. Stupid as hell and just as entertaining to watch.
