Behind the Mask: The rise of Leslie Vernon
I finally got to see this as I'm in catch up mode. It was a clever flick, I like how it switched from mockumentery to movie mode. There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said here before. 7/10 |

That's hilarious... I've got to see this movie... :D |

Brrrrrr.... 1 and a half hour with that guy? No thank you. |
I thought Behind the Mask was hilarious lol not what I was expecting. It was a great Idea.
Just watched Bad Taste and I must say I thought it was great, never seen Bad Taste or Dead alive until a couple hours ago and both were very fun. The only thing I didn't like was how the guy was so eager to use the rocket launcher and he blew up his friend's car(just to kill two aliens!!) Also watched Re-animator for the first time and loved it. Always saw it in stores and thought it looked boring but great flick, highly recommended. Anyone seen the sequels, any good? |
Repo.The Genetic Opera
Once I got over most of the songs being set to the sound of New Metal, it was a pretty good flick, the shit music was mixed up with some discordent blues and jazz but overall it was a cheesy romp.... It's a shame it's not getting a wider release. 7/10 |

Doubt (2008)
>>: A Fear(s) of the Dark (2007/2008) http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/966/71328008wd7.png Trailer Different black-and-white animation techniques tell four scary stories. These stories are connected by another story about a man with a devilish smile and four enormous dogs from hell and by a woman's monologue about her fears. Highly recommended, specially for the last segment where a man doesn't get the rest he hoped for in an old, dark 'not-so-abandoned' house....awesomely creepy, excellent work of art & animation! >>: B+ The House that Dripped Blood (1971) A good horror anthology with some great star casts. >>: B |
Phantasm III
This is a great movie. Made in 1994 this is one of quite few really good horror movies from the 90's. The Tall Mans unholy crusade of destruction continues and Reggie teams up with a little kid called Tim and a girl called Rocky. Together they go after the Tall Man to rescue Mike. Thunderball One of my favourite James Bond movies. Spectre has gotten hold of two nuclear warheads and they demand a 100,000,000 pound ransom but of course 007 is there (in the Bahamas) to save the world. Tutti i colori del buio (All the colours of the dark) My, oh my. This is one of my all time favourite movies. It's absolutly amazing! Directed by Sergio Martino, one of the top giallo directors ever, this is the story of a young woman called Jane (played by the beautifull Edwige Fenech) who is tormented by strange visions, is stalked by a strange man and gets involved in a satanic cult. Great actors, great (and weird) story and a truely amazing soundtrack by Bruno Nicolai. This is a must see for any fan of euro horror! |
Eraserhead:....um...wow...well I loved it, didn't understand it. I had my own personal coneection/interpretation to it. Looking at the cover I always thought it was about a serial killer but wow was I way off.
Children Shouldn't play with dead things: I remember seeing this when I was younger and gave it another go. It genuinely creeped me out, the make-up was great and I loved the ending. It shows you don't need gore and boobs to have a horror movie. Great zombie movie.. |
Two really good movies you watched there CrimsonFiend138...
Eraserhead is a really weird movie, but then again it's Lynch and you pretty much always get freaked out things when he's involved. Children... has a great vibe and I always enjoy watching it. |
Bloody Mama (1970)

Vibe would be a good word to describe Children, I loved the look and idk just seeing them walking towards the house just creeped me out for some odd reason. Just watched Children of the Corn III: Wow, the only thing I remembered was the giant...rat...thing, I actually liked it, very crappy but I liked it. Charlise Theron was in a few shots lol. I thought it was hilarious when the giant rat picked up the black girl and they used a barbie doll HAHAHA. Eli the main antagonist did a good job as the weird kid, although nothing near as creepy as Issac. |
Frost/Nixon
In the interest of full disclosure, this post may contain some comments that could be seen as minor spoilers: but, let's face it - if you're going to see this movie, you probably know how it's going to end anyway. Anyway. Near the end of the film, Sam Rockwell's character says the following of the success of the final Frost/Nixon interview: "....the rest of the project and its failings would not only be forgotten, they would totally cease to exist." I feel the exact same way about the film itself. The movie is a damn slow burn in the beginning, and it really didn't grab me at first - seemed very bland, as though I had seen it a million times in every other "charismatic underdog" movie. But once Frost hit his stride and Nixon shattered his veneer with an ultimately damning phone call, I was in awe. Powerhouse performances from both leads, a whip-sharp script and masterful direction all rise together in a deafening crescendo and end in one of the most stunningly powerful scenes ever put to film. And I was left staring at the credits, utterly stupefied by the display of talent I had just witnessed. Is the movie perfect? No, far from it. But by the ending, just like Rockwell's character says, not only are it's flaws forgotten: it's as though they never even existed. |
Had a marathon yesterday, saw some really good flicks.

The Reader (2008)
yap...definitely one of the year's best! >>: A |

Just watched this one as well. The whole thing was pretty good with the last segment and the insect segment being standouts. I found the dialogue about fear in between the shorts to be trite and annoying though. |
Funny Games U.S.
Loved this one. The atmosphere was great in my opinion. The ending bugged me a bit tho. |
Just watched The boy in the stripped pajamas and it was amazing and really sad. Very, very good movie.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

Yep, they are both good movies. Now, Children of the Corn (the first one) is really, really good but I can not remember anything from part 3. Think I'v seen it but i'm not sure. As we all know there are crappy movies that are fantastic and there are crappy movies that are just crappy. I'll this one a look nad let you know what I think. I'v got it on DVD somewhere... |
Just finished watching Tropic Thunder.
Some hilarious moments in that movie. |
Was it Children of the Corn Part 2 where they drop the house on the old lady?
Just watched a movie called Nightmare city. I guess it's one of the first running zombie films? I liked it but to me they weren't really zombies, they communicated with each other, used weapons, knew what they were doing and just seemed like humans that got a virus and were violent and bloodthirsty, not in the sense of a blind drive for human flesh. I thought it was a cool movie, the make-up pretty much all seemed the same, burnt heads..kinda reminded me of those boys that have the hairy face disorder. The wolf boys. |
All the boys love Mandy Lane
At first I thought this was going to be trashy and teeny, it was for a while, but getting deeper into it when you saw the other side to it, well it just got creepy, fucked up in a realistic fashion. There was some suttle elements that made it seem more than possible this is happening. I ended up really likeing it. 7/10 Fortress 2 I just caught this on T.V, there is so much over the top bullshit in this movie... 5/10 |

Oh, Nightmare City is a good movie by Umberto Lenzi. Action, attitude, blood, feeling, good acting (Hugo Stiglitz is amazing) and a wonderful twist at the end is what makes it so great. Some people see it as a zombie movie but I compltetly disagree. I see it as a mutant movie! These are not dead people coming back from beyond the grave but victims of a nuclear disaster that has made them into some kind of monsters. Good movie! |
Brand Upon the Brain! (2006)
I hate to sound like a broken record, but has anyone else seen this? |

I'll keep an eye out for Brand Upon the Brain! though, sounds right up my alley. |

Miracle at St Anna
I like war movies....this one wasn't bad...could have been trimmed by 30 to 40 minutes. |
Possession
One of the HDC 100 Hidden Gems. Really enjoyed this. Extremely bizarre movie, I'm glad zwoti pointed it out. Alice I'm a big fan of Svankmajers stop animation. For the most part I loved it, but Alice's constant lip narration started to annoy me half way through. |

Been watching a lot of flicks as potential remakes (sorry guys) and among them was this gem
The Last of Sheila ames Coburn, James Mason, Richard Benjamin, Dyann Cannon, Raquel Welch and Ian McShane star in this super-twisty, game-themed murder mystery set on the Mediterranean. The characters are a little too "Hollywood Insider" for me and James Coburn isn't used nearly enough, but the tale is still fun, snarky and dark. 7/10 |
So tonight was my second go at Repo the genetic Opera. It's growing on me but, it might be that I really had to have my friends around for me to get into it. Thinking of going to a back to back shadowcast of Repo and then Rocky Horror in Toronto this month.

The Rocker - nothing heavy - but entertaining family fare
|
Reincarnation [Rinne] (2005)
http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/2398/rinne41du4.png Very decent horror film, way better than Takashi Shimizu's previous disturbingly boring effort Marebito! Thanks to NE & Chrono for the recommendation. >>: B+ Amusement (2009) The clown part was cool but rest of the film...pretty mediocre. >>: C |
Vacancy 2
I didn't really get into it. It's set before the first movie, and is ment to explain the story of how it all came to be. But the way they told the story took away from any intensity the first movie had.. The score was probably the best thing about it and that wasn't amazeing either. 4/10 |
Othello: The Tragedy of the Moor (2008)
Pretty solid adaptation. It's quite truncated, but the only real victim of the editing is Desdemona: she's sadly reduced to little more than a plot device. Otherwise, it's actually quite well done: Carlo Rota's Othello is fantastic, and - despite a few missing bits - Matthew Deslippe makes a great, conniving Iago. It's nothing mind-blowing - and purists would loathe it for the omissions - but if you're just a casual fan of the play it's worth seeing. |
Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanamo Bay
I never want to see another movie with Kal Penn in it! 2/10 |
The Astro Zombies. It's always been my favorite songs by the Misfits so I finally got to see it and I loved it. I loved the Sexy/cruel Tura Satana. I loved how B it was and loved how it was older with the look and music but still somewhat violent. Pretty slow as are most movies from that era, but I enjoyed it.
