They've been playing it to death on cable, the past 2 weeks. I enjoy it more now, than I did when it first came out.

Dragonwyck

Wow...this was everything that I was expecting and SO much more. Easily one of Price's best movies, no question - he's dark, brooding, suave and exudes such charm that you can't help but fall in love with his character - even though he's a VERY difficult man to like. A truly masterful performance.

Even though Price stole the show, that's not to take away from the rest of the cast: Gene Tierney is gorgeous and more holds her own against Price's Van Ryn, and Walter Huston give a superb supporting performance as her ultra-religious father.

It's really more of a Gothic drama/romance than a horror flick, but I still think a lot of you guys would love it - Alky, _V_, Fortunato, Neverending - if you guys haven't seen this one, you're really missing out.

Oddly- I have not seen this. I need to check it out!

Takashi Miike's Young Thugs: Nostalgia. Amazing coming-of-age film.

Just came out on Region 1 DVD a couple weeks back - only catch is you can only get it in a boxset with 2 other movies: Dr. Renault's Secret and Chandu the Magician. I can't vouch for those two yet, but if you ask me Dragonwyck alone is worth the price of the set (It's only $15 on Amazon).

That one has really grown on me over the years. One of the best cop flicks period. Shane Black's best script along with The Last Boyscout. I'm glad The Last Boyscout wasn't ruined by inferior sequels like Lethal Weapon.
Wish they just left that series at number 2.

Ironicly, Mel wasnt acting, he really is batshit...
But then again, gary Busey is WAY more batshit.

The one thing i never understood, especially now that I am the father fo a girl:
Gary Busey's character was old enough to have been Special Forces in Vietnam, which even by the 80s would put him in his 30s...

Danny Glover's daughter was still in high school...

Why wasnt Gary Busey dead with 6 shotys in the head before the movie started? I would murder any 30+ (hell, 20+) year old man trying to date my high-school aged daughter. And Its not like he LOOKED young, its gary busey, he's looked 40 since he was 20.

Jean-Claude Van Damme is awesome in this weird, funny, self-referential and oddly redemptive satire of how shitty it is to be Jean-Claude Van Damme. He's broke, can't get a job, just lost his daughtwer in a custody battle and then he stumbles into a bank robbery. Best film he has ever done.
