i had a used copy of 'gryphon' in my hand the other day ...

almost bought it - Rod's credit right there on the cover ...

but i just couldnt do it ..

maybe next time - my kid might like it ..

i just know instinctivly from past experience - it's going to be a lot of chatter, a couple minutes of pedestrian swordplay, 10 seconds of CGI, movie over ...

maybe i'm wrong ?

nope
it's a tainwreck with the worst CG monster ever to grace a SciFi Original picture
and I was completely rewritten

stick with Mammoth - at least that one's kinda funny (but still not very good)

so, are you still working with Carpenter?

novakru 09-19-2008 12:47 PM

Simone (2002)- this movie was awful but strangely, I liked all the characters very much.
It missed being a Great, Quirky, Indie-type Gem... by a hair

hellfire1 09-19-2008 01:50 PM

The Fall - loved it.

Let me correct myself... if that movie doesn't give you a heart, you sarcastic fiend, then nothing ever will.

Even the Tin Man had one... sheesh.

yeah..the cute little girl delivered a mind blowing performance but finally the credit goes to Tarsem Singh for portraying everything so beautifully. The door key hole reflection was amazing!

Drillbit Taylor

way funnier than Superbad ... enjoyed this one a lot.

novakru 09-19-2008 07:54 PM

August- I am just too unhip for this movie.
This would have been better if it was a 2 minute music video...actually, that would be a stretch.

:(

Nashville (1975)

"The Prowler" 6-7/10

Might be the most predictable movie i've ever seen. And the hairdo on the "young" cop is hilarious.

Nice gore effects tho.

Dante'sInferno 09-20-2008 07:13 AM

Righteous Kill

Disease 09-20-2008 07:25 AM

Resident Evil, Apocalypse

7/10

Shadow : Dead Riot

Chicks in Prison/Zombie Movie.

dumb as hell, occasional spark of decent writing, but mostly rediculous, with lots of shower scenes.

i have to admit i liked it :)

Boogeyman 2

At least it was better than the first one but it was still a pile of shit.

Speed Racer

Moments of sublime brilliance buried in an over-wrought, over-told story. Cut 45minutes out of it and you'd have an instant classic. Unfortunately it drags and drags. Matthew Fox steals the show in a major way - he is the perfect Racer X.

5.5/10

Boondock Saints is one of the top IMDb rated movies. Dear God. 'nough said.

fortunato 09-20-2008 11:10 AM

pathology (2008)

a few good ideas pasted together haphazardly among lots of stupid crap.

meh.

Sorry, i use it anyways.

I stay the hell away from anything below the ratings of 3.

Angra 09-20-2008 11:50 AM

"Never back down" 6/10

Karate kid anno 2008. More brutal and uses ultimate fighting instead of Karate. Clever. And it has a very well casted hero, "heroine" and bad guy.

This movie could easily become the Karate Kid of it's decade, especially thanks to its Ultimate Fighting, which seems to be the last years hippest martial arts form.
That being said, it sure lacks the charm of the K Kid and the much later "Showdown" (2003), which i believe i've seen about 8 times now. NBD will probably be a 1 time view for me.

my buddy said it was like getting hit in the eyes with licorice whips for 90 minutes

Lifeforce (1985)

A good little romp.

Best scene is when the Astronaut and SAS guy are sitting in the helicopter. They exchange a look that had me cracking up for ages.
