I watched The Fall today.

http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV...X86_SY140_.jpg

This movie was filmed over a period of 4 years in 18 different countries and let me tell you - It was beautiful. Gorgeous. Breath-taking (I'm not lying here. There was a single scene shot in the Dragon's Backbone rice terraces in China and my jaw just dropped open).

The visuals are absolutely stunning. The main theme takes place in 1920s Los Angeles. Lee Pace (of Pushing Daisies) plays a patient in a hospital who spins an epic yarn for a little girl.

While this film was GORGEOUS, I thought that it was a little uneven. You have your typical allegory - the epic tale is a metaphor for the "reality" surrounding the narrator (generally an unreliable one) and the audience. I thought that the breaking of the fourth wall was self conscious and forced at times and, while I LOVE Lee Pace, I thought that he struggled a bit as his own mirror character in the fairy tale.

I spent a lot of the movie thinking, "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen did it better."

That being said, I absolutely recommend this film. It goes a little long, but it's highly enjoyable. I also know that I tend to be over-critical, so I guarantee that this will most likely be enjoyed by all. I'm always looking for updated fairy tales (like the above mentioned Munchausen, Time Bandits, MirrorMask, Dark Crystal, etc.), and this was fun to watch.

I love Looker (w/ albert finney)

last seen : European Vacation - probably the worst in the series .. needed Randy Quaid to save it - but he didnt show up.

couple of funny moments - but thats about it.

Beverly Diangelo is always a treat on the eyes though.

X-FILES: I Want to Believe

Not a horrible movie...good to see Scully & Mulder again...just a bit disappointing.

"The Deaths of Ian Stone" 7/10

This flick made me think of both The Matrix and Dark City.

With a story like that it would take something special to come up with an ending to save this far out horror movie. Sadly enough it didn't manage to do so and because of that TDOIS fell down flat on its ass.

Conclusion: First half was very good, last half wasn't.

Yeah - The last half was absolutely ABYSMAL actually. It made me quite angry.

I must admit i saw/feared it coming early on in the movie. It just felt WAY too ambitious for a horror movie. Sure would've been awsome if they'd pulled out a "Dark city" ending tho... oh well.. :(

That was the only thing I enjoyed about this film.
The absolute coolness about this movie was that it was made before the incredible obsession with Hollywood actresses about getting surgically enhanced. The women in this movie were stunning and 'natural'.

i always thought it was cool - i liked the fact that he had to fight the sense of disorientation ..

i'm kind of fascinated with memory loss...(lack of control,,, etc)

anyway - i saw it when it came out in the theatre - it was pretty cool stuff then .. and i still enjoy it now..

The Hamiltons

I enjoyed this one, thought it was well written and acted especially for a indie horror flick. Basically revisits Martin territory but still is original enough to stand out as its own entity.

Bad Boys

Great stuff!

What Happens in Vegas (2008)
Not as bad as I was expecting, but nothing special. I'm a fan of Cameron Diaz, maybe that's why I sorta liked it.

Saving Grace.

A neat little flick with ample doses of dry humor and laugh-out-loud moments. Superb work from both leads, and the pacing and atmosphere is excellent, as is the direction.

Gets a high recommendation from me to all lovers of finely-tuned hilarous comedies.

Iguana

Very uneven film...moments of it were nothing short of brilliant (especially in the first half), but it started getting bland really quick.

Everett McGill was awesome though.
