What'd you think? I loved that one, but it seems like nobody's seen it around here.

Return of the Living Dead : Necropolis

Not as bad as what I had heard, it's just some cheesy b grade fun... It was a zombie fix for me anyway.

5.5/10

Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer - Great fun, Englund pulls off some amazing physical comedy.

Home Movie - VERY creepy, the kids did an amazing job

(Shorts)
The Pit and the Pendulum (stop animation short) - Good stop animation, decent adaptation.

Ending the Eternal - This one was a prequel to an upcoming feature film, damn good too.

Fallow - Interesting agricultural horror short.

Wish - Surprise ending, I thought something else would happen.

The Eyes of Edward James - Interesting short, left the viewer with a lot to chew on.

Coin Laundry - Zombie fare, nothing really new.

Peekers - Genuinely creepy, I have to seek out the short story now.

The Demonology of Desire - Completely messed up, deranged on every level.

Jack Brooks won't come out until Oct. and is pretty decently hyped. No CGI, good ole' fashion horror splatterfest with a bit of comedy. Home Movie will come out early 2009 and will really chill you, great atmosphere and some brilliant child actors. The shorts are just shorts, probably hard to find, who knows if you'll ever really see them anywhere (although I bought a couple). Ray Harryhausen produced The Pit and the Pendulum while Rue Morgue pictures was the mastermind behind the Demonology one and The Eyes of.... I'd say they're all worth a watch if you can find them, even Coin Laundry (I think that's the name, unsure on that one) which I was the least impressed with.

Groove.

I've noted down Peekers, Home Movie and Jack Brooks.

Sounds quite interesting. :)

Good choices, those were the best of show for sure. Ending the Eternal was pretty cool too (I ended up buying the DVD and having it signed) but will probably be included as an extra when the feature film is finally made and makes its way to DVD. Won't be for a while I'm sure, the director was still talking about casting.

And how can it be that you've been so lucky to have seen them already?

I went to the Fan Expo in Canada. Got to chat with Tobe Hooper and Sid Haig a little bit (and a few more "stars" too), saw some cool screenings, and generally just had a blast. :)

Tried to, didn't work out this year, maybe next. I'm pretty sure I saw him but he was always with some big celeb taking pictures or video. :)

The Day The Earth Stood Still.

Tooth & Nail - Not sure how much sense it made and it features some people that are truly bad at hiding, but it kept me entertained in a fashion.Average 5/10.

The_Return 08-25-2008 10:52 AM

Clerks II - *Minor Spoilers*

I had no expectations for this one whatsoever...I figured it would just be Kevin Smith cashing in on his own cult status.

Turned out to be one of Smith's better films. It was nice to see Randall get some character development, and I loved Rosario Dawson's character (another surprise - she usually bugs me). Most of the jokes were typical Kevin Smith - dirty, immature and usually kinda funny in their own little way - but it was the more serious moments that really made the film shine. Randall and Dante's fight in the holding cell has to be one of my favourite scenes in the whole Askewniverse.

American Me ... Edward James Olmos directed and starred in this one .. and did a nice job on either side of the camera. raw and still relevant.

the 1st 2 Harry Potter movies in Hi-Def

SamCostello 08-25-2008 01:45 PM

Mirrors - a decent enough movie in some places, and scary in some places, but ultimately undermined by some obvious plot twists, dumb dialogue, and ending that abandons the movie’s internal logic.

My Blueberry Nights: very good
Ladies, if you need a movie to help you along with a good, long time coming, cry...and you all KNOW what I mean..watch this, alone or with some girlfriends:)

Disease 08-25-2008 05:11 PM

Vault of Horror

I'm a fan of the short story genre, but this movie didn't hold up over the 5 storys... also the premise was just stupid.

3/10

Why is it every time I give a deadpan reaction I get questioned about it? Other people do the same thing and nobody says a bloody word to them:
