The Dark Knight- 900/10

SAW THE ADVANCED SCREENING TODAY! JESUS CHRIST!

My number one favorite movie! I'm speechless!!!!!

Not really. I'm going at midnight. I'm so excited!

Dairy of the Dead- AWFUL

The Tracey Fragments- AWFUL

Hogfather- WONDERFUL!
Terry Pratchett aided the script with this almost 4 hour rendition of one of his Discworld novels and they did such a GREAT job. Totally nailed Death's dry non-humour humour (you'll understand what I mean if you've read anything starring Death)
Highly Recommend!

Good GOD I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. I believe that Romero made one good movie (Night) and one ok movie that would have been better with serious editing (Dawn). I am really tired of the horror community extolling him as some sort of God. He needs a serious editor and Diary of the Dead is a perfect example of that; would have been significantly better even if he just did away with the voiceover alone.

MetalStorm - the Destruction of Jarod Syn - in 3D

saw this old stinker at a rep theatre doing a 3D festival .. I actually have an old copy on beta but it was fun to see it in 3D in the threatre ...

terrible terrible movie - but as i was sitting with a film critic, a writer/producer, and an actress .... there was a lot of funny chatter going on ... great night.

The Dark Knight- 12/10

Speechless.

Flawless.

There were 2 things I disliked about the film, and if you wish to know what they were, PM me.

However it was so unbelievably amazing, that you all must see it. NOW.

Oh and...

Why So Serious?

The Dark Knight

A truly perfect film, in every way. Utterly flawless.

What were those two things Posh? Please PM me :)

massacre man 07-18-2008 12:58 AM

Okay, the evening starts off, about 10-15 friends and I are in the theater, a man in a Spider-Man costume walks in, a bunch of people started to yell, scream, and you could hear an occasional "Fuck you!" Then a man in a Batman costume ran out and tackled Spidey to the ground. Most of the crowd cheered. After that, the trailers for Watchmen, Quantum of Solace, Burn After Reading, and Terminator: Salvation played. Then I witnessed it... the greatest things I've ever laid my eyes upon.

THE DARK KNIGHT

Watched Pathology and Untraceable - both very average and very forgetable. The latter reminded me of a long version of CRIMINAL MINDS.

The Dark Knight

I can't really say much right now because words won't describe my feelings at this exact moment that might make much sense. I must just try and say that this film did NOT live up to it's hype.........

IT EXCEEDS IT!!

Please go see this film....

Unfortunately I'll be seeing it with the boyfriend's family. I will have to ask him again to pull Dad and Brother aside again and explain to them again that talking through a movie while at the theater is actually considered quite rude in most circles. *sigh*

It was embarrassing. We went to see Hellboy II with his brother; we sat behind this family of 4 little kids (by "little," they probably ranged 8 - 11) and my first thought was, "Great. These brats are going to talk through the whole thing." Oh, no. They were well-behaved beauties... While my boyfriend's 40-year-old-brother talked through the whole damn fucking thing. ARGH.

...

I hate people.

I fucking loved it....Best comic book film EVER MADE.. Ledger's performance was utterly amazing... He was the perfect Joker...and that's all I have to say.

fortunato 07-18-2008 09:58 AM

the dark knight (2008)

yeah, pretty great.
ledger's performance was truly epic. it's a shame.

but yes, takes the comic book movie to an entirely different level, elevating it into an incredible work of art capable of standing on its own, despite the fact it's a comic book movie.

did not disappoint.

The people sitting behind me kept talking.

"Is that Two-Face?"
"I think that's Two-Face."
"That coin has two faces, that's gonna be Two-Face."
"Dude, good call."
"Man I really need a cigarette."
"Why doesn't he just kill him?"
"Dude I want a cigarette."
"I want this to be over. I want a cigarette."
"Dude, this is Two-Face, isn't it?"
"I told you it was Two-Face!"
Then one of them fell asleep and started snoring.

Ledgers Joker was amazing and left me wanting more.

A must see.

urgeok2 07-18-2008 07:04 PM

The Dark Knight.

that was a LOT of movie.

i was worried that the attention over his death would artificially hype up Ledgers performance more than warranted ... but that wasn't the case at all.

He excelled - probably one of the best screen villians of all time. Any future screen Joker died with Heath - at least for the next several years.

Solid film - everyone was great - pretty much a flawless effort in every respect..

Alright, where's __V__ with his thoughts? I'm curious what he'll have to say.

So check it out if you wanna talk all Batman!

The Mothman 07-18-2008 08:16 PM

The first half of Das Komabrutale Duell.
I couldnt help myself, i had to write something.

A completly incoherent jumbled mess of zero budget nonsense. Apparently its a gang war between two gangs, and one of the gangs is immortal, but i only learned theat from reading the back of the case, otherwise i would have never figured it out...
but my god is it rediculously violent. The gore is ok considering the budget, and there'smore than enough of it. there's a scene in here where this gang member gets his his brains completly blown out. the back of his head is detached from his face. One of the other gang member comes up with a 'brilliant' idea. "tear my head off with your bare hands, and give him half my brain."
the dude rips his head off, then chainsaws it into two pieces, and glues half of the brain into the dude's head who got his brains blown out earlier with a hot glue gun. lmao. The dude who's head was just torn off is walking around headless all this time. The two pieces of his head are then glued back together and glued back on his body.by this point the entire room is practically soaked in blood and guts, but now they're both fine. this movie is jam packed with scenes like this. completely retarded, and totally entertaining.

Despite being completle nonsense, its a fun watch, make sure you're hammered first, and dont try to make sense out of it, it will make your head hurt.

The Dark Knight.

I am totally, utterly blown away! Whoa...one of THE most fantastic flicks I ll ever have the honor of watching! Before starting on anything, I MUST give due credit to Aaron Eckhart for holding his own in what would have been otherwise a totally snubbed and watered-down role. Very good work, Aaron.

Now, for Heath Ledger. The whole Hollywood fraternity has lost an awesome talent - because his Joker is out of this world! It was exactly how Bob Kane would have visualised his modern Joker to be...gritty, grotesque and psychotic to the level of paranoia.

And for those of you who thought Jack's Joker could never be surpassed, I can safely say this - you were wrong. Jack got OWNED by Heath. Utterly. Totally. (Oscar indeed!)

Christian Bale is his usual self, carrying both Bruce and Bats with equal ease. He looked a bit uncomfortable as Bruce in sparse moments (not gonna spoil it), but he was on par as the best Batman on-screen yet. Gary Oldman did a competent job as usual, and I thought Maggie Gyllenhaal was totally un-necessary and un-needed.

Chris Nolan, take a bow. You might have made THE most faithful and flawless superhero flick in the history of Hollywood cinema yet. There is no way ANYONE can surpass this one, in terms of sheer quality and entertainment. It was such an overwhelming experience for me that I was applauding when the end credits rolled...without realising that 2 and half hours had passed!

das Komabrutal Duell - Second half - notable moments. (these are only the best ones, there are far too many other good ones to mention.)

dude got his wang shot off. shoots blood like a waterhose from his crotch for about 60 seconds

random zombies come out of nowhere and start stabbing people. zombie lady gets boob blown off.

One armed dude rips zombies arm off, then rips it's chest out.

guy uses some sort of water pump to steal blood from his friend and pump it into his arm.

pregnant lady gets belly stabbed and twins ripped out, then stomped on. omfg!

anyone who says Premutos is the goriest movie next to dead alive is wrong. this one takes the cake!

Mark Hamill actually did that... but Heath's is by far the best.
