Night of the Living Dead...

hard to believe that a movie made 35-odd years ago can still retain its creepiness...

Very much so...The only really good thing about the original (far too plodding!) IS the ending. Lose that and there's no point.

House on Haunted Hill, (remake)

AUSTIN316426808 04-14-2005 06:08 AM

Sin City- 8/10, would've been 9 but it lost one point because Elijah Wood was in it. It was extraordinarily weird but still a great movie.

Sahara- 6and1/2 out of 10, It had Indiana Jones like action which made it a real fun movie.

Carlito's Way- 7/10, This was my first time watching it all the way through without interruption and I thought it was a very good film, the ending is fucked up but then again I've never seen a ganster movie that didn't have a fucked up ending.

Beauty Shop- 4/10, It had it's moments of laughter but overall I thought it was pretty boring and the fact that I was nagged and nagged until I agreed to go see it didn't help either.

Amitiville Dollhouse- WTF, Lord have mercy on the idiot who's responsible for this peice of utterly pathetic shit.

movieman64 04-14-2005 06:32 AM

The Curse of Frankenstein (Hammer Classic) Christopher Lee credits it for his outset into the world of Horror.

Did ya like it? Incase anyone didnt know...I love that movie:)

Anyway, just watched The Life of David Gale. It was O.K....but nothing spectacular. Kevin Spacey was great, as usual, and the ending blew me away.

Being I'd seen it before, I knew what to expect. I did like the Asylumn twist. For me it was more of a Horromedy then anything. It's nice and glossy, like most remakes are, but it's worth a watch, 7/10. It's a Dark Castle film which makes it pretty good scene, actor, effects, and budget wise.

I thought the character was cool, no doubt about that but it's him that I can't stand, kinda like you're thing with Robin Williams.

Even without that I'd still give it a 9 instead of 10 because I think Mickey Rouke's portion was unsatisfactory(for lack of a better word). There was nothing wrong with his performance I think he did a great job, the thing I didn't like about it was it looked like they just thought of any reason to send him on a rampage.

newb 04-14-2005 09:08 AM

I watched the Toolbox Murders remake last night. It wasn't bad. could have used a little more backround on the killer.

urgeok 04-14-2005 09:16 AM

i was completely pumped to see Rourke - my all time favorite actor ..

i have waited a long time to see him in a lead roll again, and i wasnt dissapointed at all ..i thought he made a great sympathetic lug ... and a brutal man of action at the same time ..

just the thought of him and woods in a movie together .. let alone fighting !! made my decade :)

i can see how it wont appeal to a lot of people but it kept me more entertained than any other 20 movies i've seen in a long time ..

I had no problem what so ever with Rourke, I think he's a great actor and he killed the role, what I was referring to is the way they set it up.

newb 04-14-2005 09:20 AM

I'm trying to get the wife to go see this with me [ Sin City ].

If I have to sit through American fucking Idol twice a week...its the least she can do.

i guess for some it would help if you read the books .
(mind you i never have ..)

here's hoping it relaunches Mickey's career in a more positive direction ..

dantehorrorfan 04-14-2005 09:25 AM

It was adapted from a comic so I guess there's no problem with it being a little unbelievable.

ShankS 04-14-2005 09:41 AM

get the film I just mentioned above... it's another one from Chan-Wook Park, prior to Oldboy.

just searched for info on Memories of Murder, sounds rather good.

Cheers

Angra 04-15-2005 01:05 AM

"The child" 1977

Better than expected..

AUSTIN316426808 04-15-2005 03:01 AM

The Talented Mr. Ripley- 6/10, not as good as expected but still pretty good.

I had to go see Robots again last night, like I said before it had some funny parts and the first time I'll admit was a little fun but I had no intentions of seeing it again what so ever but I couldn't tell my niece no if I wanted to.

from recent experiences I find Asian horror to be just like all other horror, they all suck with a few exceptions here and there.

I wont disagree about that. I´m just more into asian horror movies than american ones, because they are more focusing on atmosphere and not blood ´n gore.

Besides, the above mentioned titles are not horror movies, with the exception of "Bunshinsaba".;)
