Juno. Worth seeing. Well constructed scenes & dialogue. Heavy topic taken lightly, but not without human touch.

Geddy 06-09-2008 10:23 AM

Manhunter.

Mother of Tears

Wow! What a completely looney film. The gore is over-the-top, the boobs bounce, witches cackle and shriek, the story makes little sense, yet somehow I LOVED it. I can't call it a great film, but it certainly is destined to be a cult classic. The only thing I hated was the Daria Nicolodi stuff, but you can't have a movie about the Third Mother without her, she's the one who told Dario the old witch stories in the first place.

Everytime I think about the film, I giggle. It feels more like Demons than Suspiria, so if you like your horror bloody and crazy and topless, you'll dig this one.

I thought it was a pretty decent watch, if you get past the first 30-odd minutes. Not great by any means, but a good timepass movie.

i liked The Rock a lot in this one .. the guy sure is a good sport.

there was a little too much self referencing ... and at times the humor was pushed (and the aerosmith concert didnt ring true) but i enjoyed it more than not.

Totally agree.

Seemed like the characters were a little "too" full of themselves and there was more hamming than humoring throughout the movie, which wasnt exactly my cup of tea.

"300"

I don't see why so many people liked this... Didn't care for it at all.

we loved it because it was so very gay. mostly naked men, sweaty, growling...

Or maybe its because the action was satisfying, it was visually impressive, lots of blood, and an all-around interesting take on a true event.

this is SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAA

movie was pretty bad, jokes about it were better.

Vodstok 06-09-2008 05:16 PM

I loved it. I walked out of the theater wanting to punch someone. I got a little worked up (not in a gay way, either)

alkytrio666 06-09-2008 05:28 PM

300 sucked. I feel like most people who saw it had a predetermined, necessary liking for it- to me it was a complete letdown.

The visuals had been done better in Sin City, and the screenplay could have been written by a third grader.

I'm not calling you out on this, because everyone says something along these lines about it, but that's exactly how I felt after I watched Power Rangers when I was six. This kind of satisfaction just doesn;t do it for me anymore.

-----------------------

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)

I keep coming back to this movie. Every inch of it is overwhelmingly powerful.

gripping, potent look at not only the power of the media itself, but the people that give it that power in the first place. it plays like a less satirical, but more intense network, and is very much still appropriate today (if not more so). everything is just so well-done, kirk douglas absolutely nails the main role.

highly recommended for alky, __v__, neverending, and despare.

I saw this a few months back in my pursuit of complete Billy Wilder enlightenment. It's definately one of his most underrated films, and its ferocious as hell.

I thought the same thing. I enjoyed when I saw it in the theater but that was because I was with some friends and some amusing events lead up to it. I watched it on TV thinking "I liked this" but when I watched it I realized I didn't pay attention at the theater and the movie sucked ass.

IggysPinkTights 06-09-2008 05:58 PM

Descent with Rosario Dawson.
liked it...I have a crush on Rosario so that helped.

I just liked it. Might not be a great film, but I thought it was fun and entertaining. Like I said before about Transformers, I don't need or want every movie I see to be the Godfather.

Last watched.. The Faculty.

missmacabre 06-09-2008 07:25 PM

new Rambo. I was expecting so much more, but I found it to be only a slightly more satisfying action movie given all the gore.

how could you expect more? it was a surge of masculinity, testosterone and ass kicking.
can't wait till Rambo 5!

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Anatomy.

A real dumb piece of garbage.

Kane_Hodder 06-10-2008 03:34 AM

Indy Jones & Kingdom of Crystal Skull.
It was a fun ride, but could have been so much better. The climax was a bit of a downer, and Harrison Ford did all but wheeze through the film.

urgeok2 06-10-2008 04:20 AM

Delta Farce. dumb movie ... but I'd be lying if i said i didnt laugh from time to time

Over a long holiday weekend, unable to escape the confines of their sorority house, a handful of unsuspecting girls are left behind to enjoy the quiet sanctuary. The normal house staff has taken off for the weekend, leaving the girls to fend for themselves. Thankfully someone was kind enough to send them a temporary replacement chef to cook their meals. However, when the girls start disappearing one-by-one, they begin to suspect something may not be quite right with... THE COOK!
Yep...sounds like a masterpiece right there.

Hey, easy now. It has a plot and a story, just not a good plot or story.

scarecrow666 06-10-2008 11:59 AM

You Don't Mess With The Zohan

Should have been called You Don't Wanna See This Fucking Shitty Movie. I thought the trailers looked atleast funny enough to make me laugh more then twice but I basically cringed all the way through and then said to myself damn you Adam Sandler, damn you to hell. You used to make me smile and laugh like a little bitch but now I just cry myself to sleep like a little bitch.

The reason it didn't make you laugh is because you aren't three anymore.
I don't know who ever thought Sandler had talent enough to join SNL and then to make his own movies, but he managed to leverage them into some kind of immature cult fan following.

The man isn't funny. He just reads the lines.

I can enjoy Sandler's movies. I don't really see anything wrong with them. Well, I can tell they aren't good movies, but I still enjoy them. Maybe it's just because I've enjoyed them since I was a kid or maybe I'm just stupid. Maybe both. I don't know. But I liked Zohan.

Say what you will about his movies - I'm not much of a fan either (though he was the only part of Spanglish worth watching).

But don't knock Sandler on SNL - his "Best Of" DVD is easily one of the funniest things that I have ever watched, bar none.

Didn't find it horrible. But the ending was poor.

I love this movie, gotta say one of the better monster movies I've seen in our time, and the effects are great x)

I like Adam Sandler, but I thought this movie looked retarded and I would never see it based on the previews.

Best adam sandler movie is still the one he's not even in, Grandma's Boy
