Penny Dreadful ~ the idea wasn't a bad one, but the movie was a bit of a mess.....an annoying mess. And I HATED the ending.

30 Days of Night ~ I enjoyed it, nothing spectacular or anything, and I wasn't crazy about some of the casting....but a decent enough vampire flick.

Ed Wood

I LOVED it, I guess it's time to say I really like Burton, especially because I can't name a movie of his I don't like off the top of my head.

The Happiest Millionaire

old disney film .. long as hell. weird and meandering - but i kind of liked it.

Robocop (1987)

I had never seen this before. Good fun.

That movie baffled me...I loved it, but hardly understood a second of it. Really cool movie, IMO.

yeah, i love it. it's probably my third time watching it.
i have to say, the movie requires at least three or four viewings before things start clicking.

carnival of souls (1962)

love it.

Phalanx 04-19-2008 10:29 PM

Bee movie.
The animations/characters themselves were fairly basic, but I really LOVED the way they incorporated 3d elements into them and the backgrounds.
Storyline was "ok", elements felt very borrowed from (was it ants or a bugs life where the ant fella realised there was "more to life"...etc?) <<that, but other than it was not bad, thankfully Chris Rock is only in the thing for a total of about a minute, and yes, it got a few genuine chuckles. (I'm sure the wasp joke was intentional)
Look, it was ok - Probably "quite ok" if you are into these kinds of movies.
I'd give it a 6.5/10 myself...I rated the first shrek and toy story films at about 8, if that tells you a bit about my system.
I feel inclined to tell those that appreciate animation and nice 3d rendering/effects to head along, the rest, wait for video...not really anything new here.

[REC].

The trailers merely gave a glimpse of what the package was about. And man...does the package ROCK or what!

One of the most tremendous and hard-hitting movies of the Y2K era of horror, with very neat scripting and cool, totally realistic characters (excellent casting)...and awesome direction. This is totally, utterly kickass...from start to finish.

Comes with a HUGE recommendation from me to all my friends here.

This was really good.If you like cops and gangbanger with plenty of bullets and twist then you have to check this out.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

This movie was super funny. I enjoyed it very much. The cast worked very well together and none of the jokes very forced or even written which is always a great thing. Jason Segel went all out with some of the comedy which I give him BIG props for. Another great Apatow Production.

8/10

The Lookout

I have been holding off watching this since I bought it because I am a slacker and boy do I regret waiting. This movie is awesome and I can't believe it got snubbed at the Oscars last year. This film in my honest opinion should have gotten nominated for something. Acting was phenomenal all around and the movie was just intense and awesome.

Dark Heaven.

bargain bin ambitious but waaaaaay inferior attempt at a Jacob's Ladder.

it tried hard but it just didn't have the groceries.

i knoew it was in trouble early on when they had a shot of a supposedly deserted street on a deserted earth - while way off in the distance you could clearly see people and cars passing by.

(the budget only lasted 87 - 8 blocks i guess.

Cloverfield.....wasn't sure if I was going to like it.....but I did....very realistic....well....as realistic as an underwater monster invading NY could be.

Charlie Wilsons War----Tom Hanks was solid as usual but Philip Seymore Hoffman stole the movie....he turned what could have been a boring political movie into a fun watch.

Hoffman has been turning in some pretty solid performances. Right from The Big Lebowski to Before The Devil Knows You're Dead.

Haven't seen the other two, but I thought Dead Birds was a great little movie. It's a slow burn - the pacing is pretty dead - but IMO it was a really cool take on an old concept, and well worth wading through the slow parts.

Plus, that ghost kid was scary as fuck!

One of my favorite Vampire movies. Lots of fun and it still holds up pretty good even though I first saw it in theaters 23 years ago.

I just watched The Hole, which was ok. Tortured, belabored, and a little longer than I would have preferred. Then again, I'm not really one that's into mystery/thriller/horror films. Just give me the blood, guts, and disturbance and get over it.

And Thora Birch really bugs me.
