Yep. There seems to be this new, unwritten, dumb-as-hell law that says if you have a number in your title, replace one of its letters with it.

It wasn't even a good idea when Se7en started it.

When I first saw the box art to "Se7en" I thought it was called "Sesevenen" because of that. Stupid, I know.

Boogeyman 2 (2007)

Well, I wasn't expecting much to begin with, and I still came out disappointed. Not only could you see the ending twist, coming from a mile away, getting there was dreadfully boring. The only thing they did do right, they took away the PG-13 trend and turned it into a slasher film. The bad thing is, now we are not only stuck with a mediocre slasher, we now have a new slasher villain. Can you say, "franchise"? Let's hope it ends with this one. Not even the great Tobin Bell was able to save it.

Second time seeing it and I have to say I enjoyed it just as much. It's fun cheering on the bad guy. :D

City Lights (1931)

This truly is one of the greatest. Every time I see it it plays out more passionately, more sweetly, more greatly than ever before. It also contains some of the most brilliantly constructed comedy sequences of all time.

This is one of those roles for which I auditioned and had multiple callbacks :o

The same year I had a callback to play Russell Hammond in Almost Famous, a callback to play Palmer Joss in Contact and five fucking callbacks for the role of Moxon in Varsity Blues

guess I wasn't supposed to make it as an actor

oh, I just watched Bourne Ultimatum

good stuff. nothing brilliant, but better than most action flicks.

Look at the bright side, Rod.

If you'd got the part as Russell Hammond you wouldn't be here today. ;)

Death Sentence - 6/10
Pretty good. It's a little far fetched at times for the "This could happen to you" theme. The last 20 minutes of the film are worth the rental fee.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007)

I actually liked this when I saw it in theaters, but I liked it even more the second time around. It certainly has its faults, and often falls into the "too-much-money-for-its-own-good" blockbuster hole, but it's also a whalloping good time, and plenty exciting.

Plus, I'm a goddamned sucker for Keira.

Just finished watching that as well. A bit disturbing. Would have liked for it to be longer.

Hidalgo. I love it, mostly because it has a special little place in my heart. When Bree and I were Engaged, we went and saw Hidalgo and Dawn of the Dead (04) the same day.

You're such a romantic.

The NeverEnding Story

Bloodshed ~ most inane, nonsensical ending I have seen in awhile. I mean I wasn't expecting Shakespeare or anything, but still....;) Up until the ending, nothing special, but fun to mock....haha.

The Pumpkin Karver ~ I might have liked this one a bit better if it wasn't for the characters. Way too annoying, so it lost me.

Death Sentence ~ I actually really liked this, I thought it was well done, especially the last half hour or so.

Bret Easton Ellis adaptation mini-thon? I'm still waiting for Avery's Glitteratti and Glamorama. I heard they aren't going to be released, but I'm still hoping.

I was looking for Less Than Zero also, which I swore I had but apparently loaned out. Still reading Glamorama, but have already come to the conclusion that a movie would be cool too.

SAW IV
Now, I must say... I'm pretty sure my local theatre is one of the worst around. It's located in a mall, not a stand-alone building. It's the only option, unless you want to drive a good two hours out. The screening rooms are small, and compact. The screens are equally small in comparison to every other theatre I've been to. The projected images are blurry, and often framed incorrectly (I've seen entire movies where the image was slightly skewed and stretched... so much so that the video itself buckled inward, to create a semi-circle top line instead of the usual straight line. As if the image was projected onto a half-pipe.) Not only this, but the projectionists seem to not care about their job. For example, when I went to see Sweeney Todd, the entire introductory scene was projected upside down. And in context of this review, when I went to see SAW IV... throughout the entire film, we had to deal with these half-second glimpse of future scenes. It would show a scene, show another for about a half-second, cut off abruptly, and move to another. Only to have that abrupt scene shown 10 minutes later into the film, in full. This happened more then once, more then three times. It was constant.

In fact, I'm feeling as though I missed half the scenes in the movie. Upon rewatching the unrated DVD version tonight, I felt as though I had not seen various scenes before. No, the unrated version does not include a whopping 10 minutes of extra scenes. Only partial gore segment enhancements. So that is not the reasoning. This time, watching it though, things made a lot more sense.

So... yeah... I liked it a lot better then I did when I saw it in October. A lot better. I'm going to go out on a limb and be willing to say that the SAW movies do keep improving on one another. Looking forward to V.

I've been showing it to friends all day long. I'm slightly addicted, having seen it 8 times in less than 18 hours. What gets me the most is the atmosphere, the performance of the lead, and the left-for-interpretation ending. Do you know any other film that are similar to this? I would love to see a feature-length version.

I admit the only reason I went searching for it online was because the title intrigued me. Thanks for sharing, cause I've watched it 3 times today as well. :) It is very creepy, especially that long car ride into the dark. It definitely deserves to be made into a feature length version, but I'm afraid that it would lose it's steam after a while (like most movies today).

As for another movie that may be similar to this one, I honestly can't say. The story is a bit classic: the crush that goes horribly awry, but it definitely has a unique twist to it.

Anyhoo... just finished watching another short, directed by Julia Stiles: Raving.
