Hatchet- 6/10

It was funny and entertaining. Random... but the humor kept it alive.

Roderick Usher 01-05-2008 10:46 PM

Eastern Promises

Wow. Cronenberg moves into Scorsese territory with this one. Dense, rich, beautifully acted and gripping. I was simply blown away by the growth of this filmmaker whom I already adore, but now I simply stand in awe of him.

9/10

A little horror/mystery gem from the past, with a few creepy scenes up its sleeves.

All horror fans in all ages should catch this one.

the fact that jersey girl was not only watchable but actually good says a lot about Kevin Smith I think.

Haven't seen that one in soooo long. One of my favorites as a kid. Never has a Bing Crosby song been so creepy.

lol

Only when the girl sings it.

Crosby's version is still cosy. :)

Man, you must've had a terrible headache after that movie marathon of yours?

Agreed...bent, and fucked up...feels like it breaks your brain somehow.
It's like eraserhead gone (even more) mental. The grinding industrial soundtrack is a spin-out too, and some of the visuals/effects are just nuts...bit like escher meets giger...

I got a double pack of this one and the sequel, I've yet to watch the sequel "BodyHammer".

Angra 01-06-2008 12:42 PM

"Away from her" 7-8/10

A very honest and unsentimental view on the Alzheimer's disease.

Amazing that such a young person can make so well a movie about such a topic. Way to go, Sarah Polley.

Finished Jersey Girl earlier and just finished Clerks 2.

In front of a screen too long or you don't like Kevin Smith?

Catch myself doing that pretty often too. No such thing as seeing any of those too many times, as far as I'm concerned.

Death Sentence.....5/10.....a bit disappointed in this one..Kevin Bacon was good, as always, but the movie was just so stupid....and I love revenge flicks.

3:10 to Yuma...8/10...a great addition to the western genre...even if its a remake....

***********spoiler***************

wasn't to sold on the change of heart of Russell Crowe's character....but all in all...a very good movie.

I thought the soundtrack was great as well... Totally fitting.

Complimented the atmosphere of the movie perfectly.

Oh, and tonight I'm going to tune into E. Elias Merhige's "Begotten".

The Warriors (1979)

I was very impressed. I'd heard good things, and I'm always tough on films that have big reps, but this was a genuine blast. It's an hour and a half of non-stop, rip-roaring gang fights, and one hell of an adventure plot.

Thanks for the final push, Avi.

Mostly the first.

I like some of Kevin's flicks, such as Clerks 1 & 2. But watching 5 Smiths in a row, with all its inane yada yada yada, would surely cause a major pain in my brain.

watched Ed Gain, The Butcher of Plainville (2007), what a complete waste of time, the acting was horrible, there was a few bloody scenes but nothing crazy...i do not recommend this movie at all
