Really dumb. Kinda funny. If Edgar Wright had a stroke, he might make films like this. I laughed a couple of times.

Legend

Wondering which version this is though, since the music was completely different (and I found it waaay better... no Tangerine Dream, yuck!). Only Mia Sara's singing threw me completely off, but find this version better than the one I saw as a kid.

The Hamiltons

Not bad, not good. A bit slow. Interesting concept that I think could have been better exploited.

Enormous entertainment. This has always been one of my guilty pleasures.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 6
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare.

I am glad they made a seventh installments, as this would have been a horrible way to end a franchise. Each installment of the NOES franchise thus far has provided some excellent special effects. The fourth one was the climax, in my opinion, but I enjoyed each of them. UP UNTIL THIS INSTALLMENT. My god, what trash!

The story wasn't all that great, but what ruined it the most, was the effects! The visuals. The trailer even exclaims: "Cool graphics!" Oh my god. People don't tell me this wowed people back when it premiered. I felt like vomiting.

Did this start the switch from prosthetics to digital? If so, even more reasons to hate it. It was... oh god... I can't say this enough. Terrible. Terrible. TERRIBLE.

And then they go and highlight all the effects in the previous installments during the end credit clip reel? That contrast made it even worse.

Quite disturbing. The last segment especially, for me anyways.

That movie deserves an F----------. Freddy's Dead FUCKING SUCKED! I am a huge NOES fan, and when I watched this movie, I took it out of the DVD player and threw it across the room. The only reason I still own it is because I got the NOES box set and, if I get rid of it, the set doesn't look good. The worst thing is, the director has been with the NOES series since the beginning. You think she would've given Freddy a great finale (thank God it wasn't). But no, she makes a tragedy out of the movie. I've seen car accidents that looked better than this steaming pile of horseshit. And don't even get me started on the special effects. I too wanted to puke. Also, how come there were only about three deaths? What kind of slasher movie has this low of a body count? I wouldn't mind it so much if the kills were more inventive and entertaining (I'll admit, the hearing aid death was slightly enjoyable). All in all, the makers of this movie should burn in hell. Fuck this movie!

The Black Dahlia (2006) - 4/10

Despite his impressive visual style, Brian De Palma remains a hit-or-miss filmmaker. For every "Scarface" or "The Untouchables," there's a half-dozen misfires. Unfortunately, "The Black Dahlia" belongs in the misfire category. This deliriously incoherent James Ellroy adaptation suffers from flat acting and lack of narrative focus.

Kane_Hodder 11-29-2007 08:44 PM

The Exorcist - Director's Cut.
The subtle indications of the demon + the spider walk scene was noteworthy, but the theatrical version was better.

yesterday was a fearnet kind of day, watched catacombs...not bad for a free movie really liked the ending...also watched high tension, seen this before pretty fucked up movie, and finally ring around the rosie which i stooped 20 minutes in

Poseidon

Even tho I love the original from 1972, I really liked this. I thought the effects were good, and the acting was decent. But then, I'm a big Kurt Russell fan.

joshaube 11-30-2007 07:04 AM

Finished the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. It was the first time I had seen any of the installments in full. Here's how I'd rate them. 1, 7, 3, 4, 5, 2, and 6.

Well this was released at cinemas as well. I went and saw it... Maybe it was better that way.

Hostel 2 ~ more of the same, and that was what I was expecting, so I couldn't be disappointed this time. A couple of effective death scenes.

Pieces ~ I found this movie really, REALLY funny....:p WTF was up with the ending? Hilarious....and there were a few moments like that one. Glad we finally got to see it, been hunting around for it for awhile.

Oh and we watched Death Proof the other night. I prefer Planet Terror, it was just more fun, but really liked this one as well. Kurt Russell was great.

I like For A Few Dollars More better, but I figured 'Fistful' was better to start off on. How about you?

Yellow Jacket 11-30-2007 02:39 PM

Skinwalkers
Had some fun moments, but the direction of Jim Isaac was lacking. Many recurring slow shots occured, and they never worked t begin with. Being rated PG-13 hurt this film quite a bit as well. Given an R-rating and some blood, this might've been passable.

2.5/5

Rise of the Footsoilders
http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/1...ilders2na3.png

A low budget British gangster movie that follows the rise of Carlton Leach from one of the most feared generals of the football terraces to becoming a member of a notorious gang of criminals who rampaged their way through London and Essex in the late eighties and early nineties. The story concludes with three members of his firm being brutally murdered in the infamous shot-gun slaying at Rettenden.

A pretty violent & gory gangster flick that you shouldn't like to miss.

The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928)

Powerful, shocking, harrowing, and historic.

The Mist (2007)

Wow! The King/Darabont team have done it again. I had huge expectations, being such a huge fan of the original King novella, and these exceeded those. Easily one of the best horror films of the last ten years.

It's getting to be one of my favorite horror movies. I love the confusion aspect, and how it flows with the greatest ease. The ending is phenomenal as well. Highly recommended.

After I saw Yojimbo, a little of the magic got sucked from A Fistful of Dollars for me. Still an excellent, excellent picture, but I feel that For a Few Dollars More is a little more original.
