Having a few friends over for some old-school sleepover marathoning. Just finished our first film, and while everyone's running to get more snacks or taking bathroom breaks, I thought I'd fill you guys in.
There are 4 people, including myself... so the ratings out of 4 just are like... our of the 4 people, so and so liked it. Slumber Party Massacre Boy, this was fun! It sort of mimics our situation, considering the whole sleepover aspect. Sadly, no one was murdered during - or before - the viewing of this film. Very slick. It has a modest runtime of 70 minutes and it works perfectly (I hate drawn-out movies that simply bulk up to fill 90 minutes.) The murders begin right away, and continue up until the conclusion. Visually stunning. Loved the witty camera tricks (the peep hole drilling, the drill between the legs, the real life / film cutaways, etc) and the overall look of the film. The quality was stunning on the transfer, but I was *so* glad it still had the film dirt, dust, scratches and cigarette burns. It gives the film such a great feeling. Everyone was laughing throughout this film. The real-life dialogue and conversations were great; and like all good slashers, gratuitous nudity and horny teenagers (Playgirl makes an appearance!) I'm surprised this one isn't mentioned more often. So much fun! Everyone loved it, so 4 out of 4. The Burning is up next. If someone doesn't loose a hand trying to work the blender... |

Did a little theater hopping this evening- and what a theater hop it was!
Gone Baby Gone (2007) Incredible. Seriously- the best film of 2007 so far, and an incredible landmark in the careers of Ben Affleck as a director and Casey Affleck as an actor. A perfect movie. Four stars. Michael Clayton (2007) An absolute thrill to watch, and I'll be damned if Clooney doesn't have an enormous shot at Best Actor this year for this impeccable performance. Suspenseful from beginning to end, and the finale will send shivers down your spine. Two of the best films of the year, without a doubt. |

The first FEARnet original film was actually a lot better than I was expecting, but still not a great film. The atmosphere was good and what was looking like a pretty lame cliche film actually turned everything around in the last ten minutes with a surprisingly cool ending. It's worth a watch if you're bored. It was entertaining enough that I would check out the next film FEARnet makes based on this one. C Live Free or Die Hard This was entertaining. Bruce Willis was great in his reprisal of John McClane and Justin Long did a good job in his first big starring role. The only thing I wasn't real crazy about was the cyber-terrorists unexplained ninja capablities. That didn't quite sit rightr, but all in all this is a fun ride and a good addition to a strong franchise. B Chris Rock: Bigger and Blacker This is a prime example of why Chris Rock is in my top 3 favorite comedians. Hilarious. A- |
I think I might pop in a movie tonight.

Exactly. I was sooooo disappointed. "From the creators of narnia..". Pfffffffth!!!! It was like the people behind the story had absolutely NO idea where they wanted to go with this movie. So they added a little bit of everything in a desperate attempt to catch the entire family watching this mess. They failed... IMHO And the sweet girl.... For the love of God, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY??!!!!! :( |
Grandma's Boy.
|
The Reaping. Good plot, bad execution.
|
The Bridge to Teribithia was originally written by a woman who was trying to help her child get over the death of one of their best friends. I thought the film was excellent. You completely did not expect it to happen.

The Gore Gore Girls ~ now THIS is what I was expecting from a HG Lewis film. Completely ridiculous, cheap and over the top. Gory, and fairly entertaining as long as you aren't easily offended or easily grossed out. |
The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit
..............fun for all! |
Planet Terror-Bruce Willis and zombies, where can one go wrong? Seriously, I want to know. 9/10

Bridge To Terabithia is a wonderful movie.
Sorry to hear that some of you didnt like it...and I am guessing that came from looking at the trailers and posters, which gave all the wrong impressions about it. It dwelt on one of the most fragile emotions of a child, the imagination...and how parents should cope with it. I thought the makers did a great job in conveying that message. A true gem of modern movie-making. |
