DeadHeads (2011) I went into this low budget with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. 2 intelliegent non-violent undead must go on a road trip thru zombie ridden American to propose to one of their (still living) girlfriends. One of the characters reminded me of a young, not on crack Trevor Philips. Oh - it's also on netflicks. |

EPISODE 50
2 opposing teams of paranormal investigators are given free run of a previously off limits insane asylum. One team tries to prove there is an explanation for everything and the other tries to prove that ghosts really do exist. I very seldom find any movie bad...but this movie was horrible. |
The Man of Steel
meh......WHIZ BANG SHODDY CGI |

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 [3D] (2014)
http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps5a484ae9.jpg The overall plot line seems like underdeveloped or needed more reviews or re-writes before even they should started the shooting. I think I've already seen all the major & cool CGI treated action sequences in the trailers, so there were nothing actually more left in that area while I was watching it in the theater yesterday. The "death scene" was cool but expected a lot more moving reactions from Garfield. Overall, not great but not too bad or horrible either. >>: B Autumn Blood (2013) http://i346.photobucket.com/albums/p...psd71bd3bb.jpg Great cinematography and almost zero-dialog treatment in the script wasn't a problem but couldn't find the story as a whole much intriguing. But on the halfway through, thought it might going to be another I Spit on Your Grave sort of flick set in high in the mountains but it didn't turn out like that. >>: C+ |
The new Robocop.
What a bland, boring movie. Honestly, I have nothing good to say about it, at all - just that it eventually ended. Makes the total recall remake look great in comparison. |

And lastly...no catchy lines from the Robocop!...only one they used from the original and that was also poorly placed or untimely, didn't match fit with the scene. |
Byzantium
I probably should have watched it during the day. I was asleep about 30 minutes in. I'll give it another try later. |

V for Vendetta (2005) http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/...---200-007.jpg Got a pile of DVDs for a euro each - this was among them. Hadn't seen it since It came out. It still stands up as a pretty decent adaption of Moore's excellent comic. Worth the euro :-) |

... It's been a while since I've posted here, so here are the last few movies I've seen... The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps56926ce6.jpg Loved it. One of Wes Anderson's absolute best. The cast was amazing and the direction, as usual, was whimsical and wonderful. If you're a Wes Anderson fan, then it's absolutely a must-see for you. 4.5/5 ... The Raid: Redemption (2011) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps49d1b2c8.jpg I was absolutely blown away by this incredibly tight, well-directed, well-acted, and well-choreographed action flick. Gripping, tense, and some really incredible action sequences. I'm glad that I finally saw this; The director directed my favorite short out of both VHS movies, "Sanctuary;" it was really cool to see his first film. Really psyched to see the second movie (wish I had caught it in theaters!) I highly recommend this one, guys. Seek it out. 5/5. ... The Battery (2012) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps5dc9030a.jpg I had a friend recommend this to me as being "one of the best recent horror movies that they have seen in a LONG time"... and... eh... I mean, it wasn't bad, it just didn't knock my socks off like I expected it to with that praise. I think that if you enjoy The Walking Dead, you'd enjoy this as it has more to do with the humdrum of surviving the zombie apocalypse. Honestly, though, I couldn't stand one of the characters (though Jeremy Gardner was fantastic and totally steals the show)... The soundtrack was also killer and I constantly have the song overplaying the trailer stuck in my head... I think that a lot of people on here will dig it, so please seek it out if you haven't already... I was just a little bored by it and found it so/so. The good news is that it's not just your average run-of-the-mill zombie flick... At least they're trying to do something different... 3/5 ... Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father (2008) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ps43ca351c.jpg Incredibly moving documentary. Bring your box of tissues. I don't want to say much more because I think the less you know, the greater impact it has. 4/5. |
"Mindhunters" (2004) 8-9/10
I don't think i've ever heard of his horror movie before, which is very weird. It has a great cast, a great horror story and the same kind of dialogue as in "Deep Blue Sea. It's easy to tell Mindhunters is made by the same guy who made Deep Blue Sea. You have no idea who will surviver. Or who the killer is for that matter. My only complaint is that the last 10 minutes could've been better. So if you liked Deep Blue Sea and The Collector see this one. It's on Netflix. |
"Entity" (2012) 2/10
A interesting story horribly executed. It's obvious there was only room in the budget for scary sounds. Everytime something visually scary happened the unfocused shaky hand-held camera came into play. Of course. I give this garbage 2 out of 10 only because the acting was surprisingly good. Note to filmmakers: If you don't have the budget to make a decent horror movie don't make a bad one instead. Just don't make it. |

THE LOST (2006). Based on the violent Jack Ketchum novel of a small town sociopath losing his grip on reality and the inevitable rampage. ***
SUPER 8 (2011). Kind of a hybrid of ET/CLOVERFIELD/IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE and a group of kids making a horror film in 1979 (good attention to detail here with authentic songs/props). Really liked this, although I wish there had been more focus on the kids and the movie. ***1/2 |
Stiches (2012)
8/10 I liked it for what it was. Some parts were funny, the character development was excellent for a film like this. The violence was very creative. The story unique. Definitely an enjoyable B-flick. |

THE LAST WINTER 2006
An oil company base camp in the north is being terrorized mentally and physically but by what? Ron Perlman does a great job in it, the big lug. Has sort of a slow methodical buildup that reminded me a bit of "The Shining". I really, really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. |

1. Darjeeling Limited 2. Tennenbaums 3. Rushmore 4. Grand Budapest Hotel 5. Life Aquatic 6. Bottle Rocket 7. Fantastic Mr. Fox 8. Moonrise Kingdom If you liked Rushmore, you'd probably like Bottle Rocket; those movies are not as stylized as his later work (some people object to his later style but I really love it). ... Forgot to mention that I watched Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014). It was actually pretty good; an extension of the lore created in the first three movies. The odd-number movies in the series are definitely the best; 1 & 3 being strong installments and 5 was pretty damn good too. Not as good as 1 & 3 but I was surprised that it actually made me jump a couple of times. I think that this is the only horror franchise that I've actually kept up with. |

A film to put one in the pensive mood. It's meandering structure of "a-week-in-the-life" is no thrill ride, but the way it finds humour in bleakness and shows the functioning disfunction of a small town is certainly interesting to watch. 3/4 |

Paul W.S. Anderson's attempt at creating Titanic by fusing the beginning of Conan the Barbarian, the middle of Gladiator and the ending of 2012. Avoid, unless you have a sweet tooth for mindless CGI and Anderson's antics. * * |
