Smokin Aces. Well written, good action scenes and mooooore bad acting from Affleck.

Brazil (1985) (Final Cut)

A nuthouse of a movie, but shines through pretty well.

It's funny- I thought Affleck looked like a regular Robert DeNiro compared to some of the other wretched performances.

Blades of Glory 4/10 This was not Will and Jon's best performance but it wasn't there worse either.

The Ace of Hearts (1921)

Very solid Lon Chaney flick, with a superb supporting cast. A well told tale.

Raise the Red Lantern. One of my favorite foreign flicks.....it really is a fine movie.

The Reaping 7/10

Zodiac

This was an alright film, but it was too long. I did like the ending. The acting was good, but could have used more gore to spice things up. If you are really in to dramas or serial killer films based on reality, you'll like this. If you are looking for a horror film, you wont.

C+

I watched Death Proof again. A majority of people dislike it because 98% of it consists of dialogue that doesn't really pertain to the 'plot.' I actually dug these segments. I found myself really drawn into the conversations, as if I was there - I have a soft spot for Quentin dialogue. In honesty, I prefered the dialogue segments to those with Stuntman Mike. I was sad when it ended, not because the ending was horrendous, but simply because it was over. It's one of the few films I wish ran far past the 2hr mark. 3hrs even.

Following that, I watched Go. I really liked that also. Again, intertwining characters and multi-angled storylines are one of my favourites, IF done correctly. Otherwise, it gets real repetitive, real quick. Luckily that didn't apply here. Sarah Polley is one of my favourite actresses, after seeing her in My Life Without Me (watch it, if you haven't already) and she worked wonders with the rest of the 'bubblegum crew' (I swear, most of these actors appear in 90% of teen-oriented films made around this time...) It was, like many critics suggest, a child of Pulp Fiction. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Saw snakes on a plane yesterday...pretty much dreading it...now, while I can safely say that pretty much nobody could remotely act (Samuel just did his over the top bit...nothing compared to what he CAN do), this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
If you could sit though turbulence, this won't really be a problem.
Some funny kills and gross "kinda" gore.

Still probably about a 4/10

Started watching through the Police Academy collection with #1 last night.
I think this was probably my favourite of them - a lot of the sequels relying too much on winslow, and walking stereotype characters. Not that they're bad, but this one always had a quality to it that the large part of the sequels didn't.
I'll continue watching through.

Death Sentence. 08/10

Excellent movie. Its very Death Wish-esque but yet its very unique too. Kevin Bacon excels like never before...and the atmosphere of the movie is awesome. The action sequences pack a real mean punch...overall its one of the best action movies of recent times.

I recommend it.

watched Halloween (2007), the movie was sold out for the primetime showings
had to watch the midnight showing. The first third of the movie was good, last third was a letdown. Devils Rejects with Michael Myers. Overall the movie kept my attention and entertained troughout and would watch again

This was actually very good. I thought there was some very good acting on the parts of Joseph Gordon Levitt and Jeff Daniels.

Miss Olivia 09-02-2007 08:39 AM

Night of the Demons 2.......pretty dumb, but still a lot of fun to watch. Never going to win any awards, that's for sure lol.

If you like goofy movies with lots of naked boobs, this is right up your alley;)

For Your Consideration; I didn't think it was very comical. I laughed once, but that's only because I adore Parker Posey. I was more interested in the campy Home For Purim then I was in the actual film itself. I hadn't seen any other Guest films, are they all similiar to this? I don't think it's my brand of comedy.

The Game, Punch-Drunk Love, Adaptation., American Splendor and Dreamland sometime in the next night or so.

To some it up in a few words, they are pretty much.

Between this, and his role in Eragon, I reckon' he should play more scary bastard roles, it's like he's made for them.

definitely, he was amazing as begbie in trainspotting as well, :)

I just saw Sideshow. Great stuff! It is reminiscent of the stage show I perform.

Saw 1408, which was kind of boring. Had a couple of decent moments, but overall was just not that good.

An American Werewolf in London (1981)

Still one of my very favorite horror movies, and, in my opinion, the greatest werewolf tale ever brought to the screen. The absolute perfect blend of comedy and horror- perfect.

Hellraiser IV: Bloodline

Nowhere near as good as the first three. It made me kind of think of Aliens for some reason. Maybe the space theme. I also hated that they changed the theme music!

alkytrio666 09-03-2007 04:38 PM

Laugh, Clown, Laugh (1928)

Genuinely touching and painfully heartbreaking, I consider this to be one of Lon Chaney's finest dramatic performances. Loretta Young, too, is simply stunning at fourteen years of age. Fantastic.

Oh wow...What have they done. This is the worst of the 5 I've seen. Good premise, but it strayed too far from the path the original had set. The first three were great. The fourth was OK. This one just sucked.
