I've been kinda out of the loop for a while...What IS that?...Is it an animated thing?

Last night we watched Black Christmas (the original 1974 version) and Black Christmas (the remake), back to back...A very enjoyable experience...I love to watch the originals and their remakes one after the other, especially when they're both really good movies :)

The Simpsons Movie (Third viewing)

Still fucking awesome.

Die Hard With a Vengeance. 08/10

Wife hadnt seen it, so we popped the DVD in. Still rank it 2nd in the franchise behind the original. Sam Jackson is one badass from Harlem, and John McClane kicks butt as usual. Jeremy Irons is a surprise package, and does awfully great. Yippie Ki Yay, motherfucker!!

The Grudge 2. 04/10

The scares were there, and bigger...but the story was a let down. Some really corny characterization, and a very sloppy climax ruined what could have been an improvement on the original. It had its fun moments in the first half, so I feel a bit gracious...

The Crow. 07/10

I love the atmosphere in the Crow. The dark, brooding and intense "raining" stuff gets to me every time. And Brandon Lee as Eric Draven absolutely kicks ass...if only he didnt get so much dialogue (I always thought silence could have been a real asset to the Crow). Ernie Hudson is ok, and the rest of the supporting cast round up rather nicely. All in all, a fun and entertaining flick.

If you liked SOTD.... Rent or BUY this immediately. ;)

barbatos66 08-01-2007 03:55 PM

so bad!!!

I saw "I know Who Killed Me" and it was soooo bad! So bad it was funny. Lindsay Lohan wasn't really the one who ruined it... it was ruined long before they even started filming.

I watched this years version of The Hills Have eyes 2 last night and I was pleasently surprised, it was actually really good. I was expecting it to suck donkey balls but is was pretty enjoyable. It was definately a hell of a lot better than a sequel to a remake should ever have the right to be.

Excellent movie. The gags are so funny in that one, and Monica Bellucci looks breathtakingly beautiful.

Skinwalkers. 07/10

Dont ask me how I have seen this WAY before its Aug 10th release (that is a secret and will always be ;) ), but the movie surprised me. It has a fresh approach to the werewolf lore, and some of the scenes kick serious ass!!

The actors performed decently to some neat scripting and direction, and there are some twists after the mid-part which keep you riveted to attention.

A must watch, when it releases next week. Recommended by me.:D

Oooh, how is that? I always see it at the library, and I even rented it once, but never had time to watch it before I had to return it.

The Host

I didn't know much about this going in to and after seeing it, all I can really say is... Wow. Original, fast paced, funny, simple plot. There's not a ton of gore, but there are a lot of deaths and an ending I didn't see coming. The creature FX were great with the exception of some obvious CGI at the very end. This is now the fourth Asian horror film that I give my official stamp of approval (The other 3 are Battle Royale, Ichi The Killer & The Eye.) This was entertaining from start to finish.

Hmm...I thought it was a lame attempt to copy Hollywood's Jurassic Park histrionics, with a very awkward script which made it look repetitive. It wasnt anything originally Asian either, hence my not-too-impressed feelings for it.

The effects were more than decent, so I gave it a 05/10 rating.

Halloween 2.

novakru 08-03-2007 05:40 AM

What I've watched lately.

Dangerous Beauty: Good stuff, better than I thought it would be.
Back in the day women were able to do two things, marry well or become a whore (hmm, not much has changed)
Very good scene where the cortisan is about to be burned as a witch.

We had a Harry Potter party....
Sorcerer's Stone
Chamber of Secrets
Prisoner of Azkaban
Goblet of Fire: VERY GOOD-EXCELLENT, 5 STARS
We will be seeing the 5th one at the theater tomorrow.

Numb: OMG, stay away from this one.
Children of Men: very emotional, excellent movie, highly recommend.

American Psycho

Haven't seen this one in a while. It's a real treat to take a long break from this one and then watch it with semi-fresh eyes again. Really fun film and something of a black comedy classic. Sure the ending is a little disconcerting, but it works for me and Christian Bale's performance is (as usual) simply brilliant.

8.5/10

Troll - Good shlocky fun.

Eight Legged Freaks - I always avoided this one because I had heard bad things about it. Lucky for me it ended up being a silly, fun, creature feature.

I dug it, great effects and an alright storyline. The pacing was a bit wonky but once you got used to it things seemed ok.
