AU Mordum

Phalanx 06-02-2007 05:33 AM

Children of Men.
Interesting. I like it. Nothing bad about it comes to mind.
Visually gloomy yet nice to look at, nice camera work, actually that was great...Owen as solid as always too.
Not sure quite where it sits with me, but right now it's all good.

VampiricClown 06-02-2007 07:26 AM

Bram Stoker's: Dracula (1992)

I must say, this is one of the best Dracula films I've seen in awhile. I'd highly suggest anyone who has yet to see this to go and purchase it now.

8/10

POTC- At World's End

WHOA, this was a great sequel, although it doesn't compare to the 1st 2. But it's a valid sequel IMO. Great story, great mutiny/ treachery, awesome whirlpool!!! I love jack's insanity stuff, and I loved the fight scenes in this one. Amazing ending to me! I dunno if there should be a fourth, this one basically ended it in my book...

This is, without a doubt, the greatest family movie of all time. Family adventure I mean. It's just amazing.... in every way.

If you've ever seen their little HBO shorts and laughed at them, you'd probably dig the movie. Personally, I liked it, but I can see a lot of people either not getting it or liking it.

I didn't really...just me. Although I liked one part "I'm in you're house now, call me"...reply - That's fuckin' crazy man...made me laugh.

I liked eraserhead a lot if only for the visual style and weirdness...which may have just been for weirdness sake as some have pointed out, but it still stands up and takes your mind on a funny journey regardless.
If you've seen and enjoyed eraserhead, I'd suggest having a look at the asian film "tetsuo: the iron man" which I mentioned over in the other thread. It's more towards horror, and goes to different kind've extremes, but I found both films slightly reminiscant of the other. Although if you found eraserhead fucked with you a little, this one does, a LOT.

Havent seen mulholland dr...I should probably check it out.

If Tetsou has anyting to do with Eraserhead, i need to get my hands on it ASAP.

Phalanx 06-02-2007 09:22 PM

Nothing to do with it really, but a similar style of film that will definately evoke some similar reactions. It's as I said, a little more towards "horror", it's about a man who encounters a being and after a certain incident finds himself transforming into a mechanical creature. The whole film feels and sounds like a nightmare...but yeah, if you are a fan of the things eraserhead does, then you will like this one.

Drive Thru 5/10

DP McCoy 06-03-2007 04:22 AM

Had a touch of insomnia last night so ended up watching the movie channel while the early hours, watched this trio.

Turbulence-
Ray Liotta goes OTT in this daft thriller, some of the set pieces really are stupid and not the least bit believable, but as late night brainless entertainment goes it fitted the bill quite well.6/10

Turbulence 2:Fear of Flying-
Even dumber than the first one with yet more ridiculous set pieces, plenty of hammy acting and best of all a freeze frame smiley faced happy ending.A cheesy time filler.5.5/10

The Warriors-
An old favourite of mine.Lightning paced action, funky clothing and a great soundtrack, even now the movie still drips of "Cool".The cartoonish gangs are great,The Baseball furies being my favourites,in fact the the chase and subsequent rumble between The Warriors and the Baseball Furies is just about my favourite sequence in the movie. The acting is pretty solid throughout, although there are some wooden performances along the way(The Leader of the Orphans for example),the action is superb and the settings are wonderfully realised. Can you dig ittttttt!!!!!!!9/10

VampiricClown 06-03-2007 05:31 AM

April Fool's Day

My first time viewing this film, and it wasn't bad at all. Not my favorite movie, but still up there. Better than a few of the crap movies I've seen recently.
