The Hitcher (remake).......and it was a pile of shit.
I have no numeric rating. It was that BAD.

"Dark Ride" 5/10

No likable characters whatsoever. Maybe that was a good thing.

I'm not a huge fan of the slasher genre, but found Dark Ride to be a decent effort newertheless, despite it's lack of good actors and obviously low budget.

Fear 6/10 .

I went to a Sci-Fi marathon this weekend at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago, where I was lucky enough to meet Academy Award winner Patricia Neal (The Day the Earth Stood Still, Hud). She's a real doll.

Anyway, I got to see, on the silver screen, the following films:

*Metropolis (1927)

*Forbidden Planet (1956)

*Serenity (2005)

*The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) (Followed by Patricia Neal Q+A)

*Mad Max (1979)

...they played The Terminator and Starship Troopers too, but when Mad Max finished it was past midnight, and we had to walk back through a bad part of town.

Some really cool flicks...

Now you know why the robot of Forbidden Planet was a huge hit back then.
(I still have the action figure of it somewhere)

I didn't find the atmosphere to be more intense than many other slasher movies i've seen. The only thing that was going for this movie was the "amusement park" ride theme. THAT was a little original.

Dark Days

Documentary dealing with a group of New York City homeless that set up a small community in an abandoned subway station far below the streets of New York to keep safe from police, misfits and weather. Their home made community comes complete with shacks built from scrap, electricity stolen right off the 3rd rail, and broken pipes that act as showers. It's an interesting look into the lives of homeless people, but it was as impactful as I had been hoping it would be.

Maniac

Interesting take on the slasher genre. It almost takes a sympathetic view of the serial killer at the center of the story. The story was decent, the gore FX were OUTSTANDING, especially the shotgun decapitation and the ripped apart scene. This is probably some of Savini's best work. The acting was okay, the directing was decent. I recommend this to slasher fans. It's straightforward, gory and twisted.

Haha, hell yeah. I'd seen Forbidden Planet before, but never like this...it was a blast. And yeah, Robbie rocks.

"White noise 2" 7/10

Posher778 05-08-2007 02:23 PM

Hmm, a lot of movies... Assuming I remember any of them.

28 Days Later- It was scary, I really thought parts were scary. Just a few, but the infected looked very scary in the dark. Acting-good Story- overdone but good, Gore- eh... there wasn't that much really, Scares- good because the one part in the kitchen, Climax- lame. The last 15 or so minutes were NOT entertaining. And I always hear about a zombie hitting a mine and bouncing onto another one, but I totally missed it.

6.5/10

Phantoms- 6/10 It was good, but really weird. Great acting.

Secondhand Lions- 10/10

Right.... If you say so.

Damn, Osment has aged since Sixth sense. He's starting to get weird looking. And chubby. Bye-bye career. :D

LOL, right then. I didn't watch it for the people. I watched it for the lion and the snarling giraffe. hahahah

Last Night:

Slither - I liked it...I had to check IMDB to make sure that Stuart Gordon had nothing to do with this movie...It was VERY much like his stuff, and I LOVE Stuart Gordon

The Descent - I enjoyed this one, too...But, it seemed like it was 'missing' something...I'm just not sure what

Feast - I was honestly expecting to dislike this one..I had even considered not getting it at one point...I'm glad I didn't make that mistake...It was funny and had a decent amount of blood and gore...I just wish there was some definitive explanation of where the creatures came from...It seems to me that there will most likely be a sequel, in which the origins of the creatures would (hopefully) be explained

Night Of The Hunter

Robert Mitchum is great.

The Hitcher 2- WHOA That was so awesome! One of the best sequels i've ever seen, ever. Highly recommended. It is very suspenseful, almost equally as much as the original. It's crazy, go see it now.

9/10

joshaube 05-08-2007 06:40 PM

^ Are you saying I should actually watch the copy I have sitting on the shelf above me? It seems to me it's a rehash of the original, and after seeing the remake recently... I don't have the urge to watch yet another version of the same story.

It is a lot like the original, but it's VERY good. There are a bunch of twists and changes, but true, it is very similar. It's extremely good though, just watch it. If you liked the original, you'll like this one too.

Friday the 13th Part 3

Well, this picks up right after F13 Pt. 2 ends so the continuity is pretty good, however one thing I don't like is how the main girl was allegedly a survivor from a previous Jason attack, yet her character was never present in either of the 1st two movies. There are some good kills, the plot is pretty thin and straightforward, the acting is okay. Overall, it's entertaining, but not great. Then again, who expects a cheesy slasher film to be great anyways?

Still my favorite of the series. When you really look at all of them, watch them one after another, it's the most fun, the easiest to silp into and just let go.
