Bay of Blood last night, not sure what I'm gonna watch today. It's snowing again so I might watch 2.

AUSTIN316426808 03-11-2005 04:44 AM

Elizabeth for the first time since I bought it lord knows how long ago.

great movie and Kate Blanchett is F'n beautiful.

Amalthea 03-11-2005 05:52 AM

The Gathering:Religious thriller with a lot of scares, but nothing new.

The_Return 03-11-2005 06:04 AM

Ive said it before, and I know Ill say it again : Tim Burton is a genius. I just watched what many consider one of his worst [Though Ive never heared a bad review]...and I hope to buy it today.

Big Fish. Wow, what a movie. The acting was much better than Id expected, as Id only seen Ewan McGregor in the new Star Wrs, lol. He was really good in this, but Albert Finney much outshined him. The guy who played the son [His name escapes me] was pretty good too...If you were supposed to want to strangle him at some points, he was VERY good.

urgeok 03-11-2005 06:06 AM

wasnt it billy cruddup (sp?)

I'm not one of the many. I also thought it was a very good film.

Why not? I found it very Burton-esque, especially most everything to do with the town of Spectre

Vodstok 03-11-2005 09:08 AM

It wasnt very burtonesque to me either, but i loved it.

And forget the Star Wars movies. Although Ewan is the best thing they have going fo rthem, you want to see Trainspotting. He is incredible in that, plus, it is just a great movie.

newb 03-11-2005 09:14 AM

Oh..this has been a great week of viewing for me...3 episodes of American Idol and The Apprentice last night....my wife is turning me into a fucking pussy:mad:

I'll try to make up for it this weekend....my son is bringing home a copy of "Dead Birds", a civil war ghost story thats getting great reviews.

"Ong-Bak"

This martial art flick from Thailand totally blew me away.

It had amazing stunts, good fight scenes, good humor, VERY good camera work (Loved the replays of all the cool stunts) and especially an outstanding Lead actor/fighter in Tony Jaa.
Iīve never seen a martial art movie based on the Muay Thai style, but Ong-bak certainly shows that it can be done, and it wouldnīt surprise me if we get to see a lot more of it in the future. Jaa is like a blend of Jakie Chan, Steven Segal and Mark Dacascos, but just faster, tougher and as supple as a rubber doll.
The last fights in the cave had some of the wildest stunts iīve ever seen.

Iīm definitely gonna buy the sequal as soon as it comes out on DVD.:)

The_Return 03-12-2005 06:52 AM

I watched a fairly...odd assortment of films lat night/this morning

I watched Casablanca yesterday afternoon. Very good movie, but majorly overrated. Bogart was damn good though

That night, I rented The Who's "Tommy". Hmm, what can I say about this...briefly, it was the absolute strangest movie Ive ever seen, but not in a bad way. I loved it, plus the music was awesome!

This is where my movie watching hit a sour note. Fear of the Dark. So may words I could use to describe this...steaming pile of flaming dog shit sprinkled with a single grain of sugar works well. I say that because the story was awful, the actors couldnt act their way out of a paper bag, and there was so many cfontinuity mistakes I couldnt keep track. But the one grain of sugar is that damn good masks/makeup on the bad guy. Wow, he looked great! Too bad the rest was so terrible...

Then this morning I watched Big Fish again:D

orangestar 03-12-2005 06:57 AM

Saw

-It was scary, and it made me sleep with my lights on, but it was so horribly acted and directed... and so many plot holes....5/10

the acting was pathetic, the only person I think that did a good job was that girl from Becker. I thought the editing was pretty good though.

The_Return 03-12-2005 10:10 AM

Just watched an episode from Season 1 of Mork and Mindy...Mork Runs Away, I believe it was called. Damn I love that show...Nanu Nanu!

Now Im off to watch Needful Things...

BH14 03-12-2005 10:38 AM

The Boondock Saints.

I just saw this movie last night for the first time and it was great. The plot is so original and the characters are great. There is plenty of gun fight action and it also one of the funniest action movies around. I laughed more in this movie than some comedies. Willen Dafou is so funny in it. Not your typical detective. "The Funny Man" is so funny as well. I just cant think of anything wrong with this movie. I tried. It gets a 10/10. Its right up there with any action movie. I highly advise you to see this movie if you havent. If you like gang movies mixed with Death Wish vigilante justice and comedy, check it out.

SOV horror anthology "Scary Tales"

"Spiders"

Needful Things

Wow...Unless you count The Shining [Which I dont] this was by far the best SK movie Ive ever seen. Von Sydow was great as Old Nick, actually the whole cast was really good. I loved it!

Amalthea 03-12-2005 04:23 PM

Blueberry:Another comic based movie about the western hero Blueberry.
Beautiful locations, art direction, visual effects and music, but some scenes drags too long, and some becomes disturbing.

Why don't you count The Shining as a Kubrick film? even though it's adapted it's still his movie. You sure as hell can't say it's a King movie because you saw what happened when he had something to do with it.

AUSTIN316426808 03-12-2005 10:50 PM

TBS had a Jim Carrey night

The Mask
Ace Ventura-When nature calls
Cable Guy

now I'm watching Jay and Silent Bob, it's uncut on comedy central.
