Ghost Rider, 6.5/10

I wish this movie had been made when I was a kid!

Ghost Rider. 05/10

"Disappointed" would be the word I d say. After all the excitement generated from the trailers, the movie falls down.
Cage is a brilliant actor, but he has nothing to act in this one.
The CGI completely takes over and leaves nothing else to dominate.
Eva Mendes looks miscast too in her role, and she tries her best not to copy Lois Lane's character into her own.
Forget any power performances if you wanna see this one. Watch it for the CGI alone.

Poltergeist

It had been years since I first saw this and I must say it was a good deal better than I remmeber it being. Tobe Hooper did a good job on this one. The acting is good, the FX were probably excellent for their time but seem a bit dated nowadays, there's not really any gore, but the plot is interesting. The climax got a little confusing but all in all it's an entertaining film, especially for a PG rated horror movie.

School for Scoundrels seen it at the cinema last night. Fairly enjoyable watch.
Feel good film where geek/loser becomes the winner.

VampiricClown 02-28-2007 09:49 AM

Land Of The Dead

Alright, I must say that this one is NOT on top with the rest of the Dead series, but I will say this, it was a rather enjoyable watch. It didn't fit in with the rest of the series for the fact that it was done on a much larger scale, and the zombies got too intelligent. Not horrible, nor great, but more than worth the watch.

7/10

Class of Nuke Em High.
It's Troma. What else can you say? It's like a bizarre after school special about the dangers of smoking radioactive marijuana.:p

The Hitcher [OG version]
Didn't really care for it. The remake seems better.

Mark of the Vampire (1935)

Not on par with Dracula, but solid all the same. Great twist and good acting...I liked it.

'Mark' needs to be seen twice within a short period of time. The first time you see it, you're totally knocked off guard, and the experience is tainted.

Watch it again and you'll appreciate it much more...even if you did like it the first time.

Marginally... it's still shit though. The music is much better this time around though. Just my opinion. :)

11:14, pretty good flick, I liked the way it was executed. I couldn't really empathize with any of the characters except for maybe the mother but it was top notch story-telling.

Nekromantic 2? Let me know what you think. Like I said, the story and music are better the second time around but then you lose the shock from the first. Both really underwhelmed me. I don't know about you but with the first film I was expecting a shocking flick filled with gore and terror but when I finally watched it I felt ripped off. It wasn't as shocking as I though, wasn't well shot or packed with atmosphere, and the story might as well have been nonexistent.

It was like some pervert got a hold of a cheap 16mm camera and fulfilled all his sickest fantasies in his own neighborhood, and had his best friends act.

Yeah, I felt ripped off.

I'd be kind of curious to see how the second compares.

Thats an awesome movie, I really liked it.

The Mask of Fu Manchu

Cheesy to the max, but alot of fun. Far from Karloff's best, but it kept me entertained if nothing else.

Yeppers. That seems to be an HDC favorite.

Joan Crawford and Bette Davis were golden together; check out Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte next.

I had seen that one somewhere and passed over it, I'll probably give a go sometime now. I REALLY loved reading about Bette and Joan going at each other on the set... they were nothing short of evil.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. 06/10

Nice entertainer. Cinematography and costumes are excellent. DeNiro looks a tad out of place, otherwise delivers a sound performance. Good direction, nice script. Could have been better, but nevertheless a decent watch IMO.

Oh yeah, it's interesting stuff. For as elegant and kind-hearted as Joan Crawford always looked on screen, she was a cold-hearted bitch off of it. Her daughter came out after she died and said she was the most abusive, horrible person you could imagine, and that Joan used to beat the shit out of her.

If you want an awesome, awesome Joan Crawford flick, check out Mildred Pierce.

Mommie Dearest was an interesting tale but you really have to wonder how much of the stuff said by these children of the stars is true. Like Bing's kids Christine waited to come out until her mom was gone and couldn't defend herself against the accusations. I think Mildred Pierce is Joan's most acclaimed piece, a real high point in her career.

Stranger than Fiction

Well, I once said that I didn't think Will Ferrell was funny enough to carry a movie to great heights all on his own (Bewitched, Talladega Nights) and that he was best used in smaller-mid sized roles (Austin Powers, Old School), but I now stand corrected. All he ever needed was a decent writer and he can carry a film on his own just fine. Stranger than Fiction was much less "in your face funny" and it seemed to work out better all around. Refreshingly original and clever plot, great acting and directing. It's funny when it should be, but also gets serious when neccesary. All around a really, really solid, enjoyable film. Probably Will Ferrell's best work. Not neccesarily his funniest, but almost definately his best.

About once a month, I gather with a group of friends and watch really bad horror and sci-fi movies. think "Mystery Science Theater 3000" live in your living room.
Here's Feb's movies:

"Night Of The Lepus" (giant killer bunnies!)
"Star Crash" (bad "Star Wars" rip off, but Caroline Munro was soo hot)
"Dracula's Dog" (the title say's it all)
