Darkman 3
Starring that guy who plays Imhotep in The Mummy and the one that plays the bad guy in Men At Work. Overal not bad. Better than expected. |

But I love the movie. Very freaky and plays on paranoia. 247°F - I thought this was going to be a horror movie. I saw the trailer a while back. The premise seemed stupid but girls stuck in a sauna! Those are old or European things. I've only been in them a few times and that was a long time ago. Most people talk about hot tubs these days. But that Friday the 13th Part 8 sauna scene was good. Just maybe a movie based on a sauna could be good. And the trailer really played on the girls and horror elements. The movie was probably sold on it unless something shady was going on. I figured at 87 minutes it couldn't be that bad. Thankfully I didn't pay to see this mess. This is one of those movies where you want your 87 minutes back. I should have known it was going to be bad from a few things early on. 1. Casting. Scout Taylor-Compton and Tyler Mane were both in that horrible Halloween remake. Scout Taylor-Compton was also in the equally bad April Fool's Day remake. Add in the annoying guy from the Friday the 13th remake, I know all of the guys in that were annoying, and the throwaway guy from the Night of the Demons remake and alarm bells should have been ringing in my head. 2. "Based on a true story." This never works well in the opening of a horror movie. 3. Overly sentimental opening with a couple. You know something bad will happen to them. What this movie is, is one of those Ladies Movie Network shows. Where the jealous ex-boyfriend comes after the girl or where the girl has to overcome some mental trauma because of a guy. It pretends to be a horror movie from the advertisements. I did think for a second that maybe they were going to go The Descent route. But that's too good for this movie. In the end the movie is just a don't do drugs in a country house with idiots movie. The only good things in this movie are a funny electrocution sequence, that is really common sense and an Ashley Greene look a like that can't act. And there is no nudity at all in this mess but the worse kind of dull sex scene with the girl's shirt on. |
My Soul to Take (2010).
This as been on my watch list for some time, I kept pushing back with all the bad comments and reviews I saw. So finally gave it go last night! I thought the start of the movie was really good, I really enjoyed that part of the movie, it was bit confusing at the start, but that what made it more fun to me. For me that was the best part of the movie, I didn't think the rest of the movie was as good as that but I didn't find the movie boring at all. I thought it flowed really well at times, I don't think it drag on at all. and found the death to bit boring at times, some blood moment but nothing gory. I didn't find anything scary or creepy in this movie, , I wasn't fan of the ending at all As I expected to be a really bad movie, that may have help, not being so let down by it, I didn't think was as bad some comments made out to be. It was one of weakest movie from Wes Craven. who brought you Elm street and Scream movies. 4 out of 10 |

I was off yesterday with a bad knee - had to keep my leg up so i watched movies:
On the Nose i think this was a movie made by Canadians - shot in Ireland Dan Aykroyd and Robbie Coltrane in a comedy about a medical specimen head in a jar that can predict horse race winners Here's to Life Another Canadian flick about a senior (James Whitmore) who blackmails the young, seemingly uncaring head of a seniors home into taking him and a couple of others (including Ozzie Davis) on a road trip. I actually teared up a couple of times at this one RUSH - Beyond the Lighted Stage Documentary about the Canadian band RUSH. Really enjoyed this - Was very surprised at the number of extremely well known and diverse american musicians who were influenced by these guys. Year of the Dog Molly Shannon plays a lonely woman and her relationships with dogs vs people. Also very sad in parts. The 300 Spartans Older telling about the 300 men who held off (for a time) the Persian army from invading Greece and inspired the rest of a divided Greece to do the rest. |

Bad Milo (2013)
The plot may put some people off this movie, this movie is about Duncan you got creature in his A** and who ever cause Duncan stress, it will come out and kill them then go back into his A** ! This movie was perfect for me , as these are my kind of movies, this movie had me laughing so much, I can not remember last time laughed some much at a movie. Milo was not that bad looking, it did look scary enough and in someway it looked kind cute as the same time. There were decent bloodly moment in this movie, which I thought were really fun not too gory. Soon as the Dad was on screen, I kind of knew were they were they going go with that, the fight scene was awesome, I was almost on floor laughing my head off. I saw the ending coming, I loved there be a sequel and the acting was pefect! Move over Gizmo, Milo here! For me this a Classic! . Going to give a 9 out 10 (Still not as good gremlins but better the Critters) |
I, Frankenstein in IMAX 3D
Enjoyable. I wasn't blown away by it, but it was worth the money. I'll probably buy the DVD when it comes out. Birth of the Living Dead Do documentaries count as movies? Enjoyed hearing all the tidbits that I'd never heard before regarding the making of Night of the Living Dead. |

Bad Grandpa
a few lol moments |

i thought certain points were funny as hell, my problem was - why did they bother trying to have the 'touching bonding moment' at the end - why bother tell any kind of a story at all? you were just there to see peoples reactions to the crazy shit he did - at no point were you 'in the story' so that angle was a complete waste .. still, a hell of a lot of funny moments |

i still struggle with Statham ...i'm not a fan of his acting. he can kick ass - but i think he does his best work as a villain where being one dimensional is a little more forgiving if played as camp glad you dug the RUSH doc. I have one or 2 of Neil Peart's books (haven't read them yet) was surprised they never talked about that. The guy had a couple of rough years there. |

i think i liked Crank as his best work - it's a smart action film.
i know there's a lot of nostalgia for the 80's action films but they were pretty formulaic and simple. When i see attempts to recreate them now, i cringe.. (i'd rather go back and watch the old arnold or van damme film) there is a new breed of action film now - smart, complex, well edited, wildly paced ...but fluid I prefer them a hell of a lot more to the films i grew up with. |

----- Back In The Day http://www.moviestomb.com/wp-content.../426335_lg.jpg Pretty bad really but there were a couple of funny moments and I liked how the ending strayed away from the usual cliches. |
Escape Plan (2013)
Pretty much what I expected but I still enjoyed it. It wasn't great, but it was worth watching. Commenting on Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage I'm a huge Rush fan. I saw Beyond when it first came out and it is an excellent documentary. And while Alex Lifeson didn't make me pick up a guitar (that was Randy Rhoads) Fly By Night, Working Man & The Trees were some of the first songs I learned and he has definitely been an influence on me over the years. I saw them this last year on the Clockwork Angels Tour and even though Geddy has been gradually losing some of his ability to hit those high notes over the past few years, they really do still have "it" and still put on a great show. |
Thin Ice:
Greg Kinnear as a scummy insurance salesman who becomes caught up in a little bit of mischief that gets darker and darker as the movie progresses. Also starring Alan Arkin, and Billy Crudup who plays a wonderfully restrained psycho. I don't want to say too much about it because although some parts are predictable there is still an interesting story here that I don't want to give away. Basically a movie about tension, and how you just can't trust anyone these days. Spider-man 2 Been watching the trilogy on Blu-Ray. Although Tobey Maguire is a weird looking little shit - I still love the films. I love Spider-man, always have since I was a kid. To get to see him flying around on those webs - and believing it - is a pure joy for me. and yes that includes spider-man 3 AND the reboot.. |
I watched Grabbers yesterday, not bad, reminds me a lot of Tremors with a mixture of humor and horror. A fun and breezy movie which is pretty enjoyable.

I finally saw Ex Drummer. Wow. Just, wow.

Spider-Man 3
I like it as much as the others ... never understood why it took so much flack The Amazing Spider-Man Love this film... I watched the CGI closely this time - and it's flawless. brilliant work. I miss the Elfman score but otherwise it's a great reboot. I really wish they could find a way to get through the legalese and include Spider-Man in the Avengers. The Punisher (Thomas Jane) enjoyable. A little tame but i believe they fixed that in the sequel |
I still haven't seen Spider-Man 3 or the reboot but I thought the first two were great IMO. The first two X-Men flicks were killer too. I thought they got the vibe of the classic comics down.
I like the Thomas Jane Punisher but (most people would disagree) the Lundgren flick is the best adaption so far. |

Red, White and Blue-great gritty film that has a unique delivery in the way it splices it's scenes but also great as a layered revenge thriller. The unlikeable characters strangely heightened my enjoyment of it.

The Punisher - War Zone
A crap load of gore in this one - lots of fun. Technically the second reboot as it referenced the true origin .. Looked high and low for my copy of the Dolph Lundgren version and couldn't find it - i'd like to check it out next. |

Nebraska (2013)
http://images.redbox.com/Images/EPC/Detail370/6984.jpg Nice character driven piece with great acting all round. Some pretty funny moments which I didn't expect. Bruce Dern is as good as always. |
Thor 2: The Dark World
+ Good cast, good acting. +Great special effects +Kat Dennings :) - First half is a bit slow. -Some bits are plain stupid (a society with lasers for air defence yet its soldiers fight with swords). -Ending was a bit weird. -Like most Marval movies there's a scene after the credits. Just put the thing at the end of the movie. |
Grrr, I was in the hospital half the week, which almost made me go through horror movie-withdrawal. Thankfully, I had a nice pile of red Netflix envelopes waiting for me when I got home. ::cool::
So, my week in movies... Hell Baby (2013)--I did see the original Scary Movie, but that's as far as my experience with parody/spoof movies goes. I thought this movie was cute, particularly the "kick-ass" Vatican exorcists, but that might just be because I'm R.C. Bad Milo (2013)--I really wanted to see this film after I read the summary and I'm glad I did. But again, I think I'm bound to be prejudiced when it comes to a movie dealing with stomach stuff. This film resonates with me for only one reason; I'm currently living with a GI-related chronic illness that is extremely severe, virtually untreatable and incurable and involves frequent hospitalizations (see above), feeding tubes, multiple surgeries, etc. So yeah, I thought it was awesome for a movie like Bad Milo to come along. It was so silly and corny. I think I'm going to make all my doctors watch it, haha. And last, but certainly not least, I finally got to see Livide (2011)!!! God, this movie was my white whale for a long time. I couldn't find it anywhere, but luckily my computer geek uncle has a regions free DVD/blu-ray player, so I was able to get the DVD from England and watch it. I was actually a bit surprised by Miss Jessel and her daughter's "secret", but the plot was a far-cry from most of the tired cliches one usually associates with these kinds of films. Overall, an enjoyable movie. Now let's just hope they don't move forward with the American remake. |
Welcome To The Jungle (2013)
Comedy starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and a bunch of other familiar faces. Funny but not haha funny. I just wished they went completely over the top. Still better than I expected. Van Damme showed some real comedy potential. I hope he'll do more comedies. A lot of those actors can be funny if they take themselves to seriously. And he certainly doesn't in this movie. |
The Wannabes (aka Criminal Ways)
A goofy Australian film from 2003. It's supposed to be making fun of The Wiggles but i'd rather watch The Wiggles any day. It was too inappropriate for children and too juvenile for adults - and it looks like most of the critics felt the same way. The lead is supposed to be a terrible actor in the movie - they found the right guy for the job. I guess they also wanted a terrible director (same guy) That said i laughed a couple times at things that were so stupid they were funny. The Open Door. A forgettable film with an interesting premise. Every full moon a mysterious pirate radio appears (on channel 999) and when you call in you can make a wish - which always ends badly - aka The Monkey's Paw. Given a different cast, instead of the usual 1 dimensional cannon fodder, and this could have been more interesting. |

The Hungover Games.
Stupid. Though probably funnier than the last Hangover film...the guy doing the Ed Helms impression nails it. I'd reco a hire if you want a cheap laugh. I'd really like to find out the name of the camo/tree chick, would like to check her out without the makeup. It's one of the least annoying films of this type in a while. Hm...maybe 5/10. Bad, but not boringly or terribly bad. |
The Art Of The Steal
http://i33.fastpic.ru/big/2014/0209/...687f702cb8.jpg The cast really had a great chemistry going on in this one. Terrance Stamp stole the show. Solid script too with some great dialogue and some genuine laughs. Sure it's familiar territory and not exactly groundbreaking but this was a really likeable and entertaining film. |
Runner Runner
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...ps82ed9313.jpg Mediocre. Typical plot, typical ending and lazy acting. The Pact http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/...pscf32ad42.jpg This couldve been a lot better. There were some creepy moments but the story wasn't fleshed out enough and it felt too small. |
