Perfume The Story of a Murderer
>>: B-

It's a story of a "lady-killer(!)" obsessive French perfumer set in 18th-century. Though the movie 'smell' quite a different but there is NO gore & creepy killing scene:( and the ending disappoints as well. Overall, it's watchable & funny(!?!).;)

Forgot to mention...
Ghost Dog - Way of the Samurai.
First time viewing, I liked it quite a lot...the gangsters made me laugh, the dialogue was incredible, I thought the friendship between GD and the french icecream guy was a kinda nice touch too, near total lack of communication, but perfect understanding. GREAT soundtrack, a few cool (can you really call them) action scenes, overall, a quality film.
Glad to have caught up and got around to seeing this one.

Labyrinth
If I could go back in time, I would have watched this as a child. I really liked it. It's something I'd urge everyone to show to their children, just so they can benefit from the nostalgia in the future. It fits in nicely with everything I grew up with - a couple of friends were just talking about that today... how television in our time was much better then what's on tv now. We sounded like a bunch of ol' folks. :)

It doesnt get much better than this one folks.

The first time I watched it was Valentine's Day last year...been meaning to watch it again anyway, figured this would be the perfect night for a near perfect film.

Hannibal Rising

Alright, I'm going to say first, I have not yet seen any of the other Hannibal films, so I can't score this one properly. It was less of a horror film and more of an action film though. But at the moment, I'm going to give it....

Marie Antionette

Beautifully lensed with a near-Kubrikian aesthetic, sumptuous costumes and locations and really odd use of new-romantic 80s tunes create a tale of total insulation from the world. It all rings a little hollow to me. There's no story, but I can see that's the point - to illustrate how vacuous her existance was and how she truly is an example of a wasted life.

Still, not terribly entertaining. 6.5/10

I'd really like to see Sophia direct something she didn't write.

Phalanx 02-15-2007 08:16 AM

Miami Vice...well...I guess most of it.
I really liked the soundtrack, but that's about all.
The dialogue was dry and boring, as was the plot...It was "ok", but I just found myself unable to be drawn into this film in any way, it was just unworthy of attention. I did notice they seemed to try and use about 50 different types/ways to shoot the damn thing, it was like random scenes from different movies stitched together.
At the point towards the end (I think....) where there's just lots of shooting and gunfire, I just looked at it, thought "I have no idea what the fuck is going on here, who's shooting who, anything", it was just chaotic and stupid...at that point I turned it off, just didn't seem worth the investment in time.
I remember once seeing an interview with Colin Farrell a few years back where he was asked what it was like to be the "IT thing" in films...and he replied with something along the lines of "It's alright but a bit tiring...I mean, it's ridiculous, I've been the f'n IT thing for about 8 years now"
Well, don't worry Colin...I think this film might've fixed that...but then, who knows...SWAT wasn't any kind've great either.

HAHAHAHA I went to see that film in the cinema. Loved it. What more could you really ask for. lol The title cracks me up also. However I was upset about the dog but then everything was ok haha. Really want to watch it again its well up there with eight legged freaks for me lol.

Ok went to the cinema, only thing that was about to start was Epic Movie.
*WARNING* Do not go and see this film avoid it completly. I was very close to getting up and leaving but I didnt pay in. Some of the films they took the piss out of were just too good for that to be done and it was done badly. A smile just about came across my face with the appearance of one ummm actress lol but otherwise I was really rather bored.
I dont know maybe it just wasnt for me but I would not recommend this film to anyone.

Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Need I say more?
I didn't think so.;)

"The Shadow Riders"

Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott are brothers who have fought on opposite sides in the Civil War, now that the war is over they go home only to discover that all their woman have been kidnapped by a renagade Confederate soldier who wants to trade the women for guns so he can start the war all over again.

Based on a novel by Louis L'amour, this is a fun movie, with lots of action and great chemistry between it's stars.

Alright, I can't speak for every movie on this disc, but as a whole, they're good. If you have an hour to spare, give this a watch. The short running time of each film helps in a lot of ways.
