This here is some very hip swing! Not schmaltzy! If you know Basie then ya know he's a pretty hep cat, this might be some of his best work, great vocals too! Recorded in the 1930's and on Decca!
The Best of Early Basie |
Legacy of Brutality by the Misfits.

These two smash hits back to back!
Jimi Hendrix: Axis Bold as Love Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland |
ROOT BOY SLIM AND THE SEX CHANGE BAND -Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band (1978). Root's voice was an acquired taste (more raspy Dr. John), but band plays great, lots of humor and a whole lotta late 70's pop culture thrown in.
|
wolfmother...wolfmother, a nice fat slab of retro sounding rock, steeped in 70`s vibe for a new generation.
|
Very good death rock Mephisto Walz's The Eternal Deep

ROTTEN APPLES-Smashing Pumpkins. A retro by them...some excellent tracks, but Corgan seemed to lose it after MELLON COLLIE AND THE INFINITE SADNESS.

|
Solo album from Boston guitarist Barry Goodreau (1980). While not as goods as the first two B platters, certainly not bad and certainly better than THIRD STAGE and followups.

THEN PLAY ON-Fleetwood Mac (1970). Very early version of FM with the great Peter Green, Danny Kirwan and Jeremy Spencer playing the guitars..and all three left the band to join religious cults. Some really good material, but don't expect anything like RUMOURS.
|
HOW THE WEST WAS WON-Led Zeppelin (2003). Did a long road trip yesterday for work and meeting friends tonight, so a three disc set will help the time go by. So far, very impressed by how tight they were then, but the long jamming gets tiresome, especially on "Whole Lotta Love"...23:08 minutes::shocked::::confused::

KILLER LIVE IN ST LOUIS-Bootleg disc from Alice Cooper OLD SCHOOL 1964-1974 Box set. Fantastic concert from my favorite band and my favorite album.

Just listened to Manson's newest. Pale Emperor. Its pretty good. I have learned with him that you have to kind of not expect to hear anything in particular. If you take away the fact that he is Manson and just listen for the music, its really good. Its got more of a slow almost jazzy feel to it.
