There's plenty of her dirty bits in there. :p I think she has a whole, what... four masturbation scenes?

Sick_As_Fuck 01-30-2007 04:23 PM

I saw two Happy Madison productions yesterday. Grandma's Boy, which was actually pretty funny, and The Benchwarmers, which is easily one of the dumbest movies I've ever see.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

Well the basic idea of the plot was OK, but it wasnt executed that well...characters were decent too, but overall this one was just pretty bland. Not flat out awful, but easily the weakest so far.

Elvis_Christ 01-30-2007 05:48 PM

4,5 and Freddy's Dead are all pretty weak. New Nightmare picked things up however.

Really looking forward to New Nightmare; What an awesome concept.

Elvis_Christ 01-30-2007 06:24 PM

Its a flick people either love or hate. Its my favorite of the series after the original followed by 3 and 2.

crabapple 01-30-2007 06:45 PM

Yeah...New Nightmare is really a very very clever film. It's got a lot of great ideas in it.

Elvis_Christ 01-30-2007 06:54 PM

... and Freddy became menacing again instead of a comedian.

joshaube 01-30-2007 06:56 PM

I finally figured out my TV tuner, and it now records the actual sound (before I could only get video) :p That means I will be able to archive those late night horror movies on SCREAM :D (rare OOP movies, and those which never made the jump to DVD). I thought I'd post this, since it means I'll finally get a chance to watch many of the movies I coulodn't before. :):):)

Elvis_Christ 01-30-2007 07:12 PM

Whats SCREAM?

joshaube 01-30-2007 07:19 PM

Canadian 24/7 Horror/Thriller channel. Pretty cool if you can get past the fact it has commercials (they're only about 5-10 minutes per hour of programming... pretty short and infrequent breaks and are mostly just telling you what's coming up next.)

They air some good stuff, usually... and I find the little intros they do before the movies to be quite enjoyable (they use character persona's such as... dominatrix; girl with ape friend; etc... to give a brief over-view and shed some light on the film before it starts.)

That sounds really cool. Wish we had something like that over here.

Cadaver 01-30-2007 09:40 PM

I watch SCREAM alot! It's pretty good but damn I hate commercials...
Just watched Trick or Treat (a DVD though :) )

Trauma

Quote:

Awaking from a coma to discover his wife has been killed in a car accident, Ben's (Colin Firth) world may as well have come to an end. A few weeks later, Ben's out of hospital and, attempting to start a new life, he moves home and is befriended by a beautiful young neighbour Charlotte (Mena Suvari). His life may be turning around but all is not what it seems and, haunted by visions of his dead wife, Ben starts to lose his grip on reality...
My favorite kind of movies are the ones involving a descent into madness, so I loved the idea behind the movie. There was a point near about 3/4 of the way through where I decided I actually liked it. At first I thought that it was just a bad version of Jacob's Ladder but they seemed to get away from that after the first half hour. I thought the acting was pretty convincing, the story is really confusing at first but you can figure it out without too much trouble later on. I would have liked it more if it were scarier, he had a lot of hallucinations that kind of ended just before they could be scary.

Anyway, I liked it. :)

i dont know if anyone is familiar with this - but its based on a 1904 comic strip.
I have a huge anthology of these comics and they were brilliant. Each pane painstakenly drawn in great detail .. back when people put time and care into their craft.

anyway - it was interesting to see how it was translated to a modern cartoon - and bless them - they actually tried to recreate the look and feel of the origional strip - and included a lot of things that happened in those old comics.

it wasnt perfect - but it was cool to see.

Watched it a bunch of times when I was a kid, haven't seen it since though.

TCM--The Beginning 6.5/10

*****************spoilers********************

If you liked the 2003 remake you may like this. Its pretty much the same movie. Why call this "The Beginning" when that whole part consisted of a deformed baby being born in a meat packing plant...thrown in the dumpster...found by crazy family....flash forward to maybe a week before the 2003 remake......thats the beginning?....no explanations of where these people came from or why they are all fucking nuts. For a TCM movie it was ok...but its been done to death. It is always fun to see R. Lee Emery do his Sgt. Hartman character on acid shtick though.

DP McCoy 01-31-2007 09:54 AM

Beneath still waters-I liked the concept, hated the film 5/10

Warlock: The Armageddon.
I don't know why I like this movie so much, but I do. It entertains me.

The Amityville Horror (original). For some reason I had never seen it. It was ok. Not sure if I liked it. Needs more thought lol.

ju-on: the grudge
ju-on: the grudge 2

korean dvd

i then picked up in the sales

ju-on: the grudge
ju-on: the grudge 2

uk 2 disc SE (mainly for the audio commentaries by bey logan)

and now i have
the grudge
the grudge - extended

the audio commentary (in japanese) by the director and cast is interesting.

there seems to be more shots of dead people (they talk on the commentary about what was removed to get the rating)

Angra 01-31-2007 01:19 PM

"Click" 7/10

I found it occasionally very funny. Especially the the scenes including David Hasselhof was hillarious.

That being said, "Click" felt more like a drama than a comedy to me. Even had me in tears once.

All in all an okay Adam Sandler movie.

A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child

Better than Part 4, but still pretty weak. Alice wasnt a great character in the first place, and she's even worse here.

Angra 01-31-2007 03:30 PM

"The benchwarmers" 4/10

Puke, shit, farts and buggers.

Iīm sure a lot of film critics have called this movie the dumping ground of humor.

But itīs actually............. kinda................. fffffffffff............. No, i canīt say it!!

"The benchwarmers" is lame and pointless.

The Libertine,

Probablly the best movie I have seen in the last 3 years, 9/10

The_Return 01-31-2007 07:16 PM

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare

Had some good ideas behind it and was mildly entertaining in parts, but overall the complete lack of series continuity and Freddy's worst attempt at humor yet drove the nail in his casket.

New Nightmare is up tomorrow night...Have heared good things, hopefully it lives up.

Spooky Encounters

A crazy mix of horror, comedy, and some great kung fu. GREAT film, I'll be adding this one to my colleciton. The hopping vampires never cease to amuse me.

Gospel of Deceit...
Made for TV movie, aired on Lifetime... I got what I expected. :p
Loads of over-the-top drama and ridiculous twists that counter one another.

SPOILERS
She found out this guy was her son she had when she was 14, and somehow they ended up having an affair (she's married to a minister), getting pregnant... she thought the minister might be the father. Turns out he had a vasectomy two years prior; now it's her son's son. Then it's not really her son... it's just some guy her husband hired to kill her because he's banging some church junkie. >_>

bwind22 01-31-2007 10:41 PM

The Libertine

This has to be one of the most boring wastes of time I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through. I saw it had Johnny Depp & John Malkovich, both whom I consider to be excellent actors, and I vaguely remembered the previews looking interesting, so I rented it not really knowing what it was about. Whoops. This sucked! If I had known I was entering into a film about a classical era poet, I probably would have skipped it. There was literally no action, humor or anything remotely interesting. Just a slow paced, boring movie with no real point other than illustrating the life of some unknown, drunk and horny poet from a couple hundred years ago. Yawn...

I thought it sucked BIG TIME and I wouldn't even recommend it to someone I considered an enemy.

D- Only because I can't bare to flunk a Johnny Depp film.

Trick or Treat

Ah, the power of deceptive advertising.... I checked this out because I was led to believe that Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne were main characters. In reality, they share probably a grand total of 5 minutes screen time. Anyways, this was a decent 80s flick about a heavy metal rock star that comes back from the dead via an unreleased album getting played backwards to wreak havoc on the town's unsuspecting teenagers.

It was decent, but not great by any means. Tolerable though.

The Wicker Man (Remake)

Is it just me? Or does labeling something "With shocking alternate ending" lead one to believe that more than 1 ending would actually be included on the DVD. Anyways, here's the deal... I didn't see this in theatres. It came from Netflix the other day and I watched it yesterday morning. I reached the end of the film and then went to extras to see the alt. ending and there wasn't one. WTF? So I am assuming the "Shocking alternate ending" was the one that I saw on the film, but in that case I think they should have put an option to view the original theatrical ending as well, because I hadn't seen it. In any event, I only saw 1 ending and now I doubt it was even the one that everyone else saw when they checked it out in theatres.

All in all, I actually liked this better than the original for a few reasons. My gripes with the original were that there was too much weird singing and hippy dancing going on and this remake seemed to eliminate the majority of that. I also liked how the remake basically had the island belong to a cult of women. What I did not like was the addition of the "twist" (if you can call it that) about how the cult orchestrated everything. That was just a little too far-fetched and unbelievable. I had feared a happy Hollywood ending, so I was glad to see that the (shocking alternate) ending remained fairly loyal to the original.

Overall, I was entertained by this more than I am by most remakes, but this is also a remake I don't have any beef with them making in the first place because I always felt like the original left a lot of room for improvement.

C+
