Casino Royale (2006)
Fun Bond flick, nothing more, nothing less. I like Daniel Craig better than Pierce Brosnan, methinks.

Donnie Darko (Director's Cut) (2001)
I had to show my friend this, who'd never seen it. He liked it. I think this movie's a fucking blast.

City of Blood. 02/10

80s flick which started off so promisingly, with 2 intriguing deaths of prostitutes, and went downhill from there. After the first 15-odd minutes, everything became a cryptex which would take years of absolute boredom to decipher. Highly UN-recommended.

Rentals can be a pain in the ass sometimes...

Wilderness 7/10

A few gory deaths...Sean Pertwee [ Dog Soldiers ] is always a treat. Not a lot of surprises with stock characters who were all [except Sean] unlikable. So you really don't care who dies.

Brick,

It was a fine movie, a little lynch inspired, nice musical score, and very well written.

7.5/10

Why are you even here? All you ever watch are subpar kid flicks.

I thought all he/she watched were amazing kid flicks. Haven't seen one under an 8 yet! ;)
Seriously though, haven't see them rate a horror film yet.

Last one I watched was Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

Do they even post anywhere else? As far as I'm seeing, they only post about non-horror related films, and rate them rather high too. A website called horror.com should be fairly obvious... it's about horror, and what's the complete opposite of that? Kids flicks. Yet they feel the need to spam our boards.

Geddy 01-16-2007 01:15 AM

I'm watching Friday The 13th right now.

been looking for it for ages - heard it was pretty good and my kid liked the 1st 2 (#2 was terrible)

well, #3 is right down there with #2 - what a horrible piece of garbage.

but - my kid liked it.

i've asked this before of the same person..
(in a more good natured way - i was just curious)

It's perplexing to be sure - but this member causes no trouble .. so i cant see raising a fuss about it.
we have more than our share of problematic 'real horror fan' assholes on the board - so i say we let this one alone.

i liked them when i was younger but i cant stand them now

Ive seen it under the title The Terror (checked IMDB to make sure they're the same movie, haha). IMO its really not great...decent, but everyone involved is capable of much better. Corman, Nicholson, Karloff....not nearly as good as it should have been.

I might as well check it out if it's only 3 bucks.

Braveheart.

$3..yeah, Id say its easily worth that much. Heck, I might even go so far as to pay $6.

But if you really want my advice...get it for 64 cents:

http://www.amazon.ca/Horror-Classics...?ie=UTF8&s=dvd

Awesome, awesome set...worth every penny (you can get it cheaper, that was just the first site I found)

Anyway.

Bruiser and Spider Baby came in the mail yesterday from Zip. Hopefully will get to watch one or the other tonight:)

im watching last house on the left now

Despare 01-16-2007 02:54 PM

Watched the end of Beyond the Valley of the Dolls again. This movie jumps off the deep so quickly that it's easy to miss some of the end if you're lulled into indifference during the first 3/4 of the film.

Angra 01-16-2007 02:59 PM

"Casino royale"

Thought it was kinda boring actually.

Found both Daniel Craig and Mads Mikkelsen to be very dull and colorless in their acting.

Still would have prefered to see Clive Owen as Bond.

Die Hard with a vengeance

Evil Dead Trap

Can't believe I've waited this long to see it, it was a blast. Gore filled, crazy, and a lot of fun. It was like a Japenese slasher with Italian sensibilities.

Fiend Without a Face

A pioneer of the genre, couldn't be more pleased.

The Island of Dr. Moreau. 08/10

John Frankenheimer has made a fantastic adaptation of the H.G.Wells' timeless classic. The effects by Stan Winston are superb and amazing to watch. Marlon Brando is magnificient, and Val Kilmer is flawless. A pacy and smooth movie. Recommended.

Popping in TCM: The Beginning later tonite.

bwind22 01-16-2007 11:04 PM

Species

I hadn't seen this for years so I figured I'd give it a watch. It was a little better than I had remembered it. The storyline is pretty cool & the gore is decent. The acting is good. I wasn't crazy about the ending, but it wasn't terrible or anything, it just could have been done better. There were also a few flashes of some pretty rough looking CGI, but not so much that it stands out as a glaring flaw.

C+

Species 2

I was surprised to find out that this was actually a pretty decent sequel. The plot flowed pretty well, alot of the same actors returned and the gore was, again, pretty decent. This series has an interesting take on alien lifeforms and how they might end up on Earth and/or go about destroying it.

C+

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

It was cool to get a little bit of the backstory & see some more of the family but overall, this was a fairly run of the mill hillbilly horror film. The acting's fine, the gore is pretty good, R. Lee Ermey is great, but the film is pretty predictable because we know which family members make it to the next one. I was entertained, but not blown away or anything.
