I agree that he certainly has his own style, but
doesn't every actor?
Well, a little more range is nice...especially when the person in question is
clearly capable of it. But then, I don't know...his roles and how he plays them
may not be entirely up to him. All the same, it feels slightly dissapointing when I see these carbon copy roles he plays one after the other with little intermission, it's though talent that he DOES have is not being put to good use, or could certainly be used more effectively.

synthetic and unnatural.

The states seem to come out with a lot of stuff along those lines...can you suggest a more tasteful equivalent?

A Good Year. 05/10

Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe...sounds great? Before you lean forward with interest, I d suggest leaning back and reading something else. For all money, this is nowhere near Gladiator. Its a drama with hints of emotion, romance and comedy thrown in. And its baaad. One of those movies which both Scott and Crowe would like to forget in a hurry.

Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest

I thought this was an alright sequel, but it paled in comparison to the original. The acting & FX were good, but they spent altogether too much time on the 2 least interesting characters (Will Turner & the female lead. I forgot her name.) and not enough on Capt. Jack Sparrow or Davey Jones. It was decent and I was entertained, it just couldn't live up to the high marks set by it's predecessor.

B-

Lady in the Water

Holy shit did this movie suck! There were so many things wrong here that I don't even know where to begin, but I'll try... First off, Shyamalan needs to stick to brief cameos a la Hitchcock and definately not give himself a main character role because he can't act. Secondly, there is no such thing as a 'thriller-comedy', but it seemed like that was what this was trying to be. The film kept building suspense only to undo it by some off-beat, out of place lame attempt at humor. Thirdly, the story pretty much sucked. I give Shyamalan credit for thinking up original ideas, but that's about where the credit ends because this original idea flat out sucked. And finally, I was disappointed that I watched this whole movie expecting some sort of big twist at the end like all of his other films, but it never came. (The slight twist that was there was nothing major and was relatively unsubstantial.)

All in all, I just thought this movie sucked. I'd give it an F, but I have to give the slightest credit for originality.

Just watched "Psycho Beach Party"

A spoof of beach party, Gidget movies with some schizophrenia, slasher, and cross dressing thrown in for good measure.

Devils Backbone

ALthough not technically a horror movie, definetly had a great feel of dread and suspense to it. Really enjoyed it. Prolly about an 8.5 out of ten or so in my books. The kid actors were really great in it too.

i'll be damned - there's something we can agree on.

i think it was nothing more than a gross exercise in self-indulgence.

boo hoo Shyamalan doesnt like critics ,,,
well maybe he should make better movies.

Interesting in parts...slow in the beginning. Predictable plot. Decent acting. Watchable flick. Not exactly another Poltergeist, but umm yeah...you get the point.

Airplane! (1980)

Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

Frankenfish. 07/10

Enjoyable little entertainer. Some good effects and nice atmosphere keep this one going. Similar to many others before and after, but still eminently watchable. One of the movies for which you grab your popcorn in the evening and love to spend 90 minutes on. Recommended.

Haha, yeah, this is one of those movies that's so bad it's good...and honestly works. Had a lot of fun watching this with a buddy.

Mildred Pierce (1945)

A brilliant masterpiece. Perfect in every way.

Michael Curtiz really knew how to make 'em.
