Told ya' so.

Seriously, it can't be taken as "just a good Christmas movie", because it's so so so so so much more than that.

Frank Capra's the man.

It's the first of his movies that Ive seen, but I'll definatly be checking out more. I knew I'd enjoy it, but I really didnt expect it to be so...moving? Powerful?

How is "It Happened One Night"?

newb 12-23-2006 09:21 PM

Watched "A Christmas Carol" ...the George C. Scott version. Its kind of a tradition I have....every Christmas as I wrap gifts....I watch it.

The Snow Queen

This is the version from the 50's, it is based on the Hans Christian Andersen tale. Never saw it before--didn't even know they made one. And it's pretty damn good!

It's a Wonderful Life

What can I say? Every time I watch it it brings more chills to my spine and tears to my eyes than the last.

It will always sit comfortably in it's own spot in my top 10 of all time.

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians

Crabapple, consider this a heartfelt "Thank You". I was aware of this movie before you made your thread on it but never really had any intention of watching it. Based on your recomendation, I went to the site that someone posted and watched it while wrapping presents...Man oh man, what an awesome movie!:D. Cheesy and cheap, but just so damn much fun!

Hooray for Santy Claus!

Katrina 12-24-2006 05:38 PM

I caught Patrick Stewart in "A Christmas Carol" yesterday, and that was quite a pleasure to watch. I also re-watched "Vamp" for the oomph-iest time.

This one was given the MST3K treatment a while back. Don't know when, but I have it on DVD and watch it for a good laugh from time to time. Although the movie is funny enough without the commentary.

Last movie I watched was Cars. My brother kept bugging me to watch it, and I'm glad I did. Luigi and Guido are the greatest!!!!!:D

@Katrina -- If you get the chance, watch "A Christmas Carol" with George C. Scott. That's a real gem. He's perfect as Scrooge.

The man in the Iron Mask.
Initially when it first came out, I dismissed this as yet another attempt to lure the masses of females that seem(ed) obsessed at the time with the "14 y.o lesbian" looks of Leo...so never quite got to see it.
Since then, I've seen the guy in a few decent films, and where he's far from one of my favourite actors personally, he's taken on a few good roles in a few good films. So, when I saw this one on the tv guide, decided to watch it.
Didn't have a clue really what it was about, but essentially what it turned out to be was a pretty damn good musketeers story, with a sideline.
I enjoyed it, by far exceeded my expectations.

urgeok 12-25-2006 06:49 PM

Aragon, or whatever its called (the Dragon movie)

- initially went to see Night in the Museum, but after sitting there for 30 min. there was no picture. i went and told someone and 10 min later they came in and said the bulb was gone so we could go see another movie AND they gave us free passes.

so we went to the dragon flick and we'll see the other one for free tomorrow.

as far as the movie goes - i was suprised. a bit corny here and there but actually not a bad production .. my kid loved it.

this is one of the best uses of CGI i've seen .. very convincing... the dragon looked great.

Double Feature:

Cat People / Curse of the Cat People

Cat People was fantastic...a little slow paced, but still very effective. Curse...eh, not so much. It just seemed so pointless...the plot goes nowhere, and half the characters are either total idiots or completly useless.

At least the first one was good:)

alkytrio666 12-25-2006 09:37 PM

White Christmas (1954)- Still the second greatest Christmas flick of all time in my books...Bing Crosby? Check. Danny Kaye? Check. Rosemary Clooney? Check.

Elf- Loved this one since the day it came out in theatres. Bought it the day it came out on DVD. I've watched it a thousand times since then, and it never gets old. Great holiday fun. Favreau is really great.

Two great holiday flicks today!

Watch it again (Cat People, that is) and pay strict attention to the sound effects and how they're used. Best damn use of sound in any horror movie, ever. Period.

The bus scene is superb!

Cat People is a fine wine. It only improves with age.

Christmas Vacation: Fell asleep on the couch (late night the night before)
Ice Age 2: Entertaining, but cant hold a candle to the first one.
The Ref: I LOVE this movie.... Dennis Leary is a god....

I hear Charlotte's Web is very good. I remember the animated version from the 70's was amazing.
