I finally saw Feast last night. I hadn't been in a hurry to see it after hearing that it was a horror-comedy. It wasn't bad, but the comedy managed to ruin the horror (as is so often the case), making the film far from scary. Oh well. It was still mildly entertaining.

The Devil Wears Prada

Meryl Streep is amazing, but the rest of the film falls flat.

The Omen 3...

A Christmas Story -- Christmas just isn't Christmas until I've watched this one.

Charlotte's Web (animated) -- Why they felt the need to remake this gem is beyond me. Nobody can be Charlotte other than Debbie Reynolds, and Paul Lynde as Templeton is perfect casting. I hadn't seen this one in quite some time, but it has certainly held up well over the years. It still had me bawling like a baby by the end, but it was well worth it.

Lady in the Water -- I was willing to give M. Night a chance, but this one just lost me. I think I was expecting the twist ending that's become his trademark, but all this movie did was make me scratch my head and bemoan the fact I wasted $3.50 renting it. Oh well...nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I also rented The Wicker Man at the same time as LITW. I've only watched about 15 minutes, but I can already tell I'm going to throw something at the TV.

Mindnumbingly awful, but in a so-bad-it's-funny way. I enjoyed it for all the wrong reasons.:p

Rocky 3...

Phalanx 12-22-2006 12:46 PM

Wolf - IMO, a really good take on the classic "wolfman" thing, some really crappy early days cgi on the actual wolves, but, other than that, it was a great film. Good music, decent storyline, good atmosphere and dialogue...and you can't much go wrong with ol' Jack.
The makeup towards his last few transformations was really cool too. Definately worth a watch if you've not yet seen it.

I thought that wa the absolute worst of the schizo-twist movies. You could see it coming a mile away and the performances by two otherwise solid actors were soooo ham-fisted and sloppy. Absolutely hated that film.

Night at the Museum (2006)

Wow. Fun, fun, and more fun. Impeccable cast, great family flick, supreme special effects.

Urge, take the kid to this one pronto.

Phalanx 12-22-2006 06:38 PM

Good to hear that one's watchable...been wanting to see it.

Just watched "Foon"...this french film, which kind've has elements of "grease",
"she's all that" and "revenge of the nerds". Made in 2005, but feels very 80's.
It's a weird, funny musical comedy with this totally bent, chaotic ending.
Interesting.

Ive only seen the American version myself and I really enjoyed it, but supposedly it's really badly butchered. Yet to see it myself, but all signs point to the Italian version being superior.

The American version, like Return said, is horribly butchered. And I mean horribly.

Deep Red is one of my favorite films, but The Hatchet Murders (American) isn't good at all.

There is an Anchr Bay release of the uncut version...you can get it for about $12 on DeepDiscountDVD.com.

Oh man dude. You owe it to yourself to watch the Italian version. It's a great movie, and a lot of people who haven't seen it will appreciate where Saw stole one of its main ideas.

Ah yes.

When I saw that scene, which is my favorite Deep Red scene, for the first time, I almost shat myself. Brilliant.
