Wow. I can't say enough good things about this movie. I have no idea how this movie can be so obscure. Great atmosphere, great acting and chilling to the bone. I can't recommend this movie enough. I don't score movies very often here, but this gets a big fat A.

one of my all time favorites ..

trivia you may or may not know :

its based on a book by one time actor Thomas Tryon .
he played the martian in the 50's B classic "I married a monster from outer space"

Blood on Satan's Claw (1970)

Great movie from Tigon studios. Far more sinister and dark than contemporary Hammer productions.

bwind22 12-11-2006 11:13 PM

Oldboy

I don't know what it is but I really have trouble getting in to most of these Asian films. This one was okay. I liked it better than Audition, but I just really wasn't all that entertained by it. I didn't hate it, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it either.

Clerks 2

This was a pretty good sequel to a movie that really did not need one to begin with. I thought Randall & Jay stole this film away from Dante & Silent Bob (Who I thought stole the first one). I am not one to be offended easily, but this was pretty raunchy. Like they weren't able to think of anything that would be funny except really lurid sex acts, but like I said... It didn't really offend me. It was more just disappointing because I tend to expect higher slightly better writing from Kevin Smith. All in all, this was better than I expected, but pale in comparison to the original.

I watched "Pirates Of The Carribean Dead Man's Chest", "Pulse" and "Hard Luck" last weekend. "Hard Luck" is pretty twisted, I liked it!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (OriginaL, 1974)

Last night (2:30am to 4am) it was a great time for me as I saw it for the first time!

Though it's not a good thing to make a comparison with its remake but I have to say Micharl Bay did a superb job too in 2003.
More or less in all segments & departments (begining, ending, script & others), I actually enjoyed TCM'2003 more than the TCM'1974!
But all credits obviously goes to Tobe Hooper who created this legendary flicks at that time.

[Btw, can anyone tell me..what happened to Jerry?:o]

in otherwords ... for kiddies .. could have been directed by any no name bum.

i fell asleep before the very end so i have to finish it tonight.

then i have The LAdy in the Water to watch next .. a stellar week for film :p

Brothers of the Head - cool

Conjoined twins become punk icons in the late 70s. The phony documentary feel has been done before, but never this well. An odd film that steps beyond simple expliotation and delves into the psychology of the conjoined.

The style and the story are a little sloppy and unfocused, but the Treadaway brothers (who are twins, but not attached) are inspired and authentic - and the music is surprisingly good. 7.5/10

EarthSlayer 12-12-2006 10:03 AM

Watched

SCOOBY ~DOO 2 last night with my soon to be 5 year old daughter.
10/10 just for how much she loves it ! And I actually enjoyed it too.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Original)

As far as the annual Christmas shows go, it really doesnt get any better than this.

joshaube 12-12-2006 06:27 PM

Clerks 2 - Holy vulgar. Don't make the same mistake as I did; don't watch it while your parents are in the same room; or even house. It was so-so for me; average. But I was impressed with how far it went.

American Pie V: Naked Mile - This is 5x more direct-to-dvd then the fourth. The fourth at least LOOKED like it had some budget backing it, but the fifth... looks like it was filmed on hand-helds, with poor lighting, and even worse directing. It's a throwaway. Boring plot, and by the end of it, I decided to skip to the end (which is predictable.) Below Average.

I still need to check out the original.... fuck I'm far behind with my movie watching.

Disease 12-13-2006 04:12 AM

I watched Madagascar this morning, I bought it for my niece for christmas, but I had to check it out before I wrapped it, 6/10.

Then I went and sore The Descent berfor work, it was pretty good, although the first half was a bit slow. Why do I always get wierd middle aged men talking to themselfs sitting behind me when I go to see a horror film at the cinema?

8/10

Cry Wolf
My buddy has a passion for loaning me shitty movies that he's bought and pleading with me to watch them so we can discuss how bad they were over beers. If I've seen a budgeted movie that tried way to hard over the past year or so, this is it. Not so terrible I wanted to claw my eyes out, but boring enough that coffee could barely keep me awake. The ending was so groan enducing that I rolled my eyes far enough in the back of my head to see my frontal lobe.

The Bone Snatcher
Where the hell did this come from? One of the nicest blind buys I've had in a long time! I enjoyed it a lot. The monster kicks ass, it's a neat premise and the acting is pretty decent. Worth a rental if nothing else.

It was alright, kind of slow and lots of clips from the first one. Music was good though.
