Under wraps remake

Halloween

This reboot/sequel makes a fine addition to the series, with a good build up and a few good kills to boot. Fitting both the times and the overall canon.

Laurie Strode is written as a badass and Jamie Lee Curtis pulls it off very well. We get a "final confrontation" like in H20, though this one does not leave (obvious) sequel bait. Which is a nice change. In fact, the abrupt-ish ending kind of reminded me of the original Texas Chainsaw.

Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing Halloween Kills.

Ps: And they STILL did not revive Ben Tramer. Disappointed. ::sad::

Tommy Jarvis 10-15-2021 11:44 PM

1-900

If it's meant to show the sadness behind the sex lines, it achieved its goal.

Sadly, there does not seem to be a build up towards anything. It's mostly just monotonous variations on the same theme.

Halloween Kills, 2021

Michael was violent as fuck. The kills were great but the people around him were annoying.
I didn't care for the 'story' at all. The very last part of the ending redeemed the film a bit. 6.5/10

Really wanted it to go differently.

I don't think a Purge movie can be boring, to be fair. Liked this one also.
Funny, but this might actually happen in the case, well, you know ... the Purge actually happens. ::EEK!::

A chilling horror anthology comprising five short stories, penned by an unlikely group of aspiring writers, in Sugarton - a small town plagued by the apparent return of an infamous serial killer, dubbed "Cutthroat." They've come to share their scary stories

Liked this, smart anthology.

Halloween Kills.

I was very disappointed. I agree with Deadbeat, i also did not like the story. Michael's kills were fun, it's got that going for it. Anthony Michael Hall running around screaming 'Evil dies tonight!!' was SO cringe. Ugh.

I agree with you both. The gore in Halloween Kills is pretty fun but aside from that the movie falls flat. Characters make incredibly dumb decisions and Michael at several points in the movie fights crowds of people which seems out of character.

Not bad, close to the original one.
But the Candyman was poor, not even close to Tony Todd.

ROOM FOR RENT 2019

Very cringy story of a newly widowed woman who is obsessed with a young man renting a room in her home. And when I say cringy, it's in a good way.

Intense at times.

Almost, lol. She would do things that we all have utter distaste for but also things that would just come out of nowhere. She was excellent in the part. Lin Shaye. If you look her up, I'm sure you will recognize her.

The Djinn (2021) - I disagree with most of the IMDb reviewers. The movie was excellent. 9.5/10

As many of you said, love the kills, but the movie was meh. Felt too much at times.
However, I liked the premise and what they were after with the present and the past. If they will end Michael at some point, that will a good way to do it.

Halloween Kills -

I might post a full review later but this movie was a disappointment. This might be what happens when the previous movie gets way too much hype. I thought that one was ok but no where near the original. And in many ways comparable to H20. I still think H20 is a fun Halloween movie and good end to the series. Right now, I don't think Halloween Kills is even better than Halloween 2.

Tommy Jarvis 10-23-2021 03:05 AM

Session 9 may not have entirely lived up to its hype as super scary stuff, but it did have a lot of going fot itself. A good build up, well written characters and a nice climax. A fun watch and worth your time.

Simmered along with disturbing undertones. Good movie.

CLAW 2021

A young couple on their way to L.A. get stranded in a "ghost town".

Not really great but kind of cute and watchable.

An Iranian couple living in the US become trapped inside a hotel when insidious events force them to face the secrets that have come between them, in a night that never ends.

I am a sucker for hotel horrors and liked this a lot. Curious if it is based on Hotel Cecil.

ELLOS VOLVIERON ( THEY RETURNED) 2014

Unfortunately I couldn't find a version that had subtitles so my guess is as good as yours as to what the movie was about. It was very good though and I think I got the main gist of it.

Three children go missing in a small town and return three days later unable to say what happened.
