RocknRolla (2008). Guy Ritchie has yet to let me down, though his last offering was a little over the top. This flick was just a perfect guy flick. Simple, solid story, solid acting, wonderful camera-work, and no lack of smart humor. All in all, a great watch. Ashe.

The Knowing

Almost surprised myself by enjoying this one. Always had time for Nick Cage and he carried this one along quite nicely. The one problem is the way the story ends for the kids involved (those who have seen this know what I mean) which I really didnt like. Still, worth a view.

Parasomnia

Since the only review on the box came from HDCs very own stacilayne gave me the impression that this could be an acquired taste. Fortunately I dont think it is.
This is not an out and out horror, but a quite clever and different story about a well intentioned man trying to help a girl suffering from an ailment which means she spends most of her time asleep. Unfortunately she has also caught the eye of a sociopath who is incarcerated in the room next to hers in the towns psych ward. The film looks good, acting is acceptable and is well paced so check it out.

Dead Snow

Horror comedy involving nazi zombies and a log cabin full Norwegian medical students. Not quite as good as I hoped, some of the comedic set pieces seemed a little forced to me but Im sure most people here will not regret investing 90 minutes to see it.

Severed Ties.

Not worth the time. Even Garrett Morris is wasted. I mean his talent. Well, he probably was wasted too....

Le Cercle Rouge (1970). Another great Melville gangster flick. i loved how he spent so much time on the "job." His use of silence and human gesture to express human emotion is wonderful. The characters, ranging from cool cats to the patiently intelligent to being pushed to the brink by demons, are sublime. The cinematography is a splendid treat. All around a wondeful movie. Ashe.
